All 3 of the Rangers that were added today scored, Clowe, Brassard and Johnny Moore....wow.

Re: NHL 2013 Thread

Wow Minni called for 2 penalties in the 3rd so far should have been atleast 5 penalties. Some really questionable crosschecks and interference have been ignored. Glad Sharks up 4-2. Guess they are largely letting them play.

Re: NHL 2013 Thread

That was a violent crazy end to that game. Anyone with GCL just watch the 3rd. Both teams got away with a lot at the end.

Jagr gets the game winner..already an impact player.
I can hardly wait until he uses his stick to score:tu:D

The tally, unsurprisingly, brought the Garden faithful to a roar. Moments later, a “Jagr” chant rained down from the balcony. “I appreciate it,” he said of the response. “I didn’t know the fans love hockey so much here in Boston, and it’s a little bit different than playing in Dallas, that’s for sure. I don’t want to say anything about Dallas. They were great, but this is the front level.”

Funny, new Red Sox players say the same thing, guys who come from teams like the Padres or most National League teams are always surprised about the "playoff atmosphere" around the Red Sox, usually regular season games against the MFYs.

For some reason they don't realize just the level of excitement around Boston teams.

Rangers really have amped up their game with their recent acquisitions. Fluery made some great saves last nite. After giving up 5 goals on Wednesday, he brought his "A" game last nite. I'm glad I found this banter thread.

That's pretty sweet. Oh and nice use of "pop". My wife gives me grief every time I say pop despite the fact she lives in Buffalo now. Damn southerners.

I know, alll my Milwaukee MoB Brothers call it "soda", and think I am goofy for calling it "pop". We even have a big store here called "The Pop Shoppe". So it's those damn "Far Northerners" too. :r

Then what do you call tonic ?

Appears the Sharks are peeking too early yet again. Expecting the let down in the first round again.

Re: NHL 2013 Thread

Bruins sign swedish elite star forward Carl Soderberg to a multi-year deal, he was part of a trade in 2007 but resisted coming to play in the NHL.

According to the source, the only thing left to be done as of Tuesday afternoon was for the Swedish Ice Hockey Association to approve Soderberg's transfer to the Bruins and the NHL. Once that happens, according to the source, as long as Soderberg plays in a regular-season game he will be eligible to play in the Stanley Cup playoffs because the Bruins -- who acquired him in exchange for goalie Hannu Toivonen in the summer of 2007 -- already owned his rights and had him on their reserve list.

The punch line is ... Soderberg has had his best season yet in the Swedish Elite League -- 31 goals and 60 points in 54 games. Well not too funny to the rest of the league :D

Sharks stunk it up tonight, Mike.

Hawks up 1-0 after 2 on an unassisted Hossa slapper. Tight game so far, both goalies looking good.

Thanks Tom, I have a friend who turned me onto the Hawks back in the 80's. Although I am a die hard Avs Fan, there is still a soft spot in my heart for the Hawks :D By the way one of my all time favorite players was Steve Smith :tu

He and Chelios made one helluva tandem in Chicago for a few years, should have won the Cup in '92. My favorite Hawk was a Steve too......Larmer #28.

Sharks play by play guy Randy Hahn (who I really enjoy listening to) cracked me up today when discussing the starting goalies at the start of the SJ-Detroit game tonight.

He said "Reports are that Jimmy Howard is about to sign a contract extension, 6 years at a gazillion bucks". :r

After watching the Wings play tonight, and the Stars last night, I am hoping Detroit hangs onto 8th in the West and get the Hawks in round one. The Stars are firing on all cylinders, even after trading Jagr, Ryder and others, while the Wings just aren't playing well from top to bottom...I think the Hawks sweep them if they get the Wings.

Mikita was my favorite as a kid, he ost a little luster when I met him (again) as an adult.

My favorite D-man back in the day was Dave Manson, that's where I took my jersey number (#3) from when I started playing.

Hard to pick a current favorite with players like Toews, Hossa, Seabrook, etc.

I rooted for them in the 2011 SCFs, John! :D

Cornelison is great, though at the game you can hardly hear him over the crowd.

Some people think the way Hawks fans cheer throughout the National Anthem is disrepsectful. What many don't realize is that is started in 1991, when the US was involved in Desert Storm. The All Star game was held in Chicago that year, and broadcasted live in the Middle East to our Troops. And thus a tradition was born. I was lucky enough to be at the game.
