Article from today's New York Times on the fight:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/23/sp...y/23brawl.html Best quote: The actor Denis Leary, who is from Massachusetts, may reflect the feelings of many Bruins fans. In an e-mail message, he said that anyone who believed “that two tickets and four plastic cups” of beer entitled you to “antagonize men who beat the living headlights out of each other for a living deserves to have his keister kicked.” |

The Wings definitely are decimated with injuries, I think they wll be much stronger when Zetterberg, Fippula, Franzen and Kronwall get back. Goaltending, which was supposed to be the Hawk's Achilles Heel, looks like it might be the Wings biggest problem when they get healthy. Right now after the line with Datsyuk, Holmstrom and Berschmoozie, they don't have much up front...they really miss Henrik and Franzen. :2 |
Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
Manny Kaptain holds no grudge against the Bruins, although he has not been back to a game since the night his son John had to walk home with only one shoe. :r

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
Wings need some players back. Plain and simple. Other then the Datsuyk line there is no other option. When you have Kris Draper leading a PP unit that doesn't give me a warm cuddly feeling. In fact it's like taking a pin and putting it in my eye. Chicago came in got great goaltending from their backup and took care of business.
Series is at 2-1 for the season. I believe the next matchup is 1/17 @ the Joe. Hopefully we'll at least have Zetterburg back. Then 2 more after that both in Chicago. |

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
Great start for Budaj tonight.... Though he struggled as a number #1....he is having a Hell of a run this year backing up Anderson. 5 games in December, 6 goals against.....
What a crazy year for the Avs... Nothing like I expected..... |

No shiet man. If you would have told me the Yotes would have 50 points at this point of the season I would have taken that bet. The system implemented is working. Best of all you can tell the players are buying in cause they see the results and are keeping it going.
WTF happened to the FLyers? Talk about a bust. Quote:

And a road record of 9-5-2 ain't that great? 25 of the other teams in the NHL would kill for it. And the Hawks are 7-3 in their last 10 on the road, Sharks are 6-4. ;) |
Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
anyone intrested in watching the USA IIHF WJ game
http://www.ndsportstalk.com/sopcast.html Watching this I am going to spend so much time working with my kids that play on passing. Man the USA Jr. team is making continued bad passes. If not for Campbells goaltending this could be bad. Short passes over passing, passing to no one. I know I could not hang with any of these guys, but man some bad passing. All this pond hockey hype makes me sad. My son will never get to know pond hockey.:( One of these days ifhe sticks with it I may end up buying him some synthetic ice. Close thing we can get to it in Cali. |

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
Tom, congrats on the strongest record in the league. I have tickets for Fenway Park and only wish that the game was with an original six team like the Hawks, the Rangers and my personal choice, the Canadiens. Have a great New Years all and for God's sake stay safe and think before driving.:tu

You know what is funny Tom, I will probably donate the tickets to the Fisher House to let a couple of injured vets go and will watch on tv. That will buy me at least 4 more study hours and will get the tickets to those who really deserve them. :D

Winter Classic Might be played in snow insted of rain for the new Year
Let's go Bruins Clap, Clap, Clap Clap Clap:tu |

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
Big win for the Hawks over the Devils, 5-1.
Coolest part was seeing John Madden score of his former goaltender and best friend, Martin Brodeur. John asked Marty to bring four signed sticks for him to Chicago. Marty joked in a pregame interview that he was waiting until after the game to give them to Madden, and that he would not give them to him if he scored a goal. http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/a...og3/madden.jpg |
Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
Lookng at the records for the division leaders from the West against opponents from the East.
San Jose 9-2-0 Colorado 8-2-1 Chicago 8-1-1 Just thought this was kinda interesting. |
Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
Should be a lot of hard hitting today, always is when the Bruins and Flyers match up :tu

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
I'm hoping the weather holds today, which it looks like will happen.
I wish I had the $300+ per ticket to go, but it was just too expensive. |

Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
Glad to see a home team finally win the Winter Classic, how cool for the fans at Fenway.
The first period was a delight for amateur, beer league and pick-up players to watch. There were more missed passes, overskated pucks, etc, in the first period alone than usually happen in the whole NHL in a month. As close to pond hockey as the NHL can get. :tu |
Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
Minnesota Wild. The State of Hockey... love the battles between the Minnesota North Stars & Chicago Blackhawks back in the day. Icehog... knows what I'm talking about!
