Re: NHL '08- '09 Thread
Well, if the Sharks play like they did tonight, they won't last too long, even if they make it out of this round. They didn't play horrible, just uninspiring. They got a lot of shots on net, but very very few were quality shots.
icehog3, You must not have seen Erhoff on the Sharks the past couple seasons! He finally shortened up his backswing, and has been much improved this year. |
Re: NHL '08- '09 Thread
Go Wings!!! Nice start with a 4-1 thumping of the Blue Jackets.

Re: NHL '08- '09 Thread
My Hurricanes evened up the series with the Devils tonight...
WTG Tim Gleason! Puts in the winning OT goal on Brodeur. :wo |
Re: NHL '08- '09 Thread
Congrats fellas on your wins. Unfortunately, I can't say the same to my Blues. 0-2 in the series so far. Maybe they'll have better luck at home. On a positive note, my Pool team (Penguins) are doing excellent so far 2-0 in the series.
I guess you win some you lose some. |

Some amazing goal tending in both the Flyers- Pens game and the Nucks - Blues. The one save fleury made was one of the best I've seen in a long time.

First playoff game for me since 1997....Hawks only made the playoffs once since then, and I didn't catch any games. Before that, I didn't miss a single home playoff game between 1988 and 1996, when they used to make the playoffs every year. |

I would grow one but I have a feeling it will come of soon anyway. Looks like business as usual for the Sharks this post season.
I hope they find their heart for game 2. I have never wanted to see the team torn apart, but if they pull another Epic post season failure I think its time. They almost seem to expect to loose in the post season now. |

I don't know what management will do if they get bounced in the first round. Who do you keep, and who do you trade off? It isn't the coaches fault, as I never liked Wilson, but McLellan has a much different attitude, and I don't see that as the problem. At the same time, I don't think of the Ducks as a number 8 seed; they didn't win early, and that cost them big time. Next year, I need to get center ice, as I wasn't able to watch the Hawks-Flames game, and I think that is going to be the best series the first round. |
Re: NHL '08- '09 Thread
San Jose caught the one team nobody in the West wanted to play in Anahiem. Should be a grinding series but I see the Sharks pulling it out. That said, I still think the Red Wings are the team to beat. But I may be baised!;)

If San Jose wins, the second round would be: Sharks V. Blackhawks Red Wings V. Canucks If Anaheim wins: Red Wings V. Ducks Canucks V. Blackhawks Looks like either way, the Red Wings and the Blackhawks can only meet in the Conference Finals unless one of the 0-2 teams comes back. |

Re: NHL '08- '09 Thread
woo-hoo, Ducks up on San Jose 1-0
|
Re: NHL '08- '09 Thread
The Blues just went down 3-0 in the series today.
The way they played the last few weeks was just amazing. I just don't know what has happened. They just seem flat. I'm got so frustrated tonight, watching them take their sweet time retrieving the puck for an iceing call (with 5 min. left in the 3rd). I just thought they would give Vancouver a run for their money. Anyway, congrats to all that had a better night then me. :tu |

Sharks are just depressing in the playoffs. They haven't played well since the all star break, and they can't put the damn puck in the net. They did better tonight than game 1, but they have a ways to go. Playoff hockey comes down to special teams. Sharks were 3rd in the league on the power play, and are a combined 0 for 12 this series. Pronger isn't going to stop cross checking if it doesn't cost his team. Not at all surprised by what is happening, just disappointed. |

I was picking them to take the Cup at the beginning of March. I can't believe how they are playing right into Hiller's hand (and chest protector). I think they need to take both games at the Pond to have any chance to advance. |

Re: NHL '08- '09 Thread
It's pretty pathetic to me, and I don't get it. They went down 0-2 against Dallas, and just couldn't muster it up to beat them. I don't get how they can't see that there 40+ shots are useless if they are right at him. I think he has made around 10 saves that are actually good, the rest have hit him. Test him, and aim high, make him MAKE a save, instead of a stop.
