Re: Gin Thread!
Just found this thread. Not too much action here lately.
My go to favorites are Plymouth Gin and No. 3 London Dry Gin. I enjoy both of these neat or with Fever Tree or Q. Tonic. My once and awhile gin is Leopold's American Small Batch Gin, made in Denver. The batch number on the bottle I now have is 1325. It is a monster with respect to botanical flavors, almost overwhelming for me. I cannot drink this neat, must have some tonic. The Juniper hit is huge! My special occasion gin is the Monkey 47 Gin. I have a .375ml of which I am about 1/3 through. I was given it as a gift from my nephew, who works at a lounge in Denver, not sure where he got it. Anyway, It is an out of control monster, with monster hits of Juniper, Lemon and Pine Nut flavors. Juniper is the main botanical that coats the pallet on every sip. Overall, it offers a ton of flavors, far too many for my pallet to ID, but I do pick up a peppery spice, Sage and ginger now and again. It is a huge Gin!!! |
Re: Gin Thread!
Huge Gin with a Huge price tag, almost $60 for 375 ml is out of my price range, but would be an awesome gift, you have an exceptional Nephew. Had a couple of Saphire and Canned Giant store brand tonics w/ a slice of blood orange in it the other night.

Re: Gin Thread!
Schwarzwald Monkey 47 is a recent discovery of mine from Germany. The bottle is very well designed and would make an attractive / unusual gift:

Time to revive this thread. Again. ;)
My most recent gin finds that I enjoy are 3 Howls gin from Seattle, Esmé gin from France, and my first foray into Navy Strength gin - Royal Dock. For those unfamiliar with Navy Strength gins, they weigh in at a hefty 114 proof. :al (Danger, Will Robinson!) |
Re: Gin Thread!
Three new (to me) selections:
Benham's, Dorothy Parker, and Wheelhouse. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...psi6kk2b01.jpg One to 5 :) 1 being drain cleaner 5 being heaven All three ratings were in a martini with very little or no vermouth/sake Benham's :):):) Dorothy Parker :):):):) Wheelhouse :):) (I have to give this one another shot. My first taste I was already a bit impaired.) |
