Re: First Firearm Thread.
Hit the range this morning before work. First time firing my SCAR and shot a box through my 25-06. Still deciding on optics for the FN.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Ya know, I have CNC files for 1911 grips. I can make them out of pretty much anything.
If I ever get my badself a 1911 frame, I'm going to make a bunch. See what I like best, ya know? |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
This is my little back pocket deal. Ruger LCP, Crimson Trace laser, lightweight civil defense rounds.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
That's a nice little pocket rocket Scott. Im on the hunt for a good conceal carry piece and have a hard time deciding caliber and make.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Halitosis, I'm gonna get a Kimber CDP or Ultra 2 or something in that wheelhouse, it makes a good sidearm/ccw.
This little .380 I have is more for your boot or back pocket. Kimber incorporates a Crimson Trace laser in their rosewood grips, and they're super sexy guns. Expensive, but it'll last a lot of lifetimes. Plus I don't ever figure I'll get tired of looking at it. All the black on black stuff, I do get tried with. If the LCP weren't just so damned cool, I'd have already gotten something else. That Ruger comes in an LC9, which is a 9mm. I don't know if it comes packaged with a laser, never looked. But it's an easy add. Not that you'd want one, most don't. It's just that it's a lot cheaper when it comes on the gun. I'd have left you a link to the Kimber handguns I mentioned, but their site is broke. |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
Scott, I have a Kimber but I won't carry it. I will post a picture of it tomorrow. I've been told it looks feminine but I still love her anyway. ;)
I've looked at the Rugers but have never had the chance to fire one, yet. |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
Scott. Check this out. Adds another round to your mag without using an extension.

Sorry it took so long Mike. Haven't been on an actual computer in a while.

The 6 round mag has never hung up, and I've dumped a lot of cheap russian ammo through that gun. That's not to say magguts wouldn't work perfectly, but I figure if I can't hit my target in 6 shots, it's not my day. Plus, I can always throw the gun at my target if I missed with the first 6, that's just like 7 rounds. :lr |

I wouldn't buy into the "feminine" thing, but I'm old. I could care less. I'm guessing that when someone is looking at that thing pointed at their face, the last thing that might cross their mind is "Oh, brother. I'm about to get shot in the face with a pink gun with sparkly rhinestone grips that say "Baby Phat"." |

Re: First Firearm Thread.
1911 magazines can be fickle things. (Maybe that's the "feminine" part of these guns. ;s )
The compact variants, seemingly more so than full sized counterparts and their magazines. One classic example I had was a Colt Defender that ran just fine with every six or seven flush-fit mag, EXCEPT for the one that came with the gun. It also did fine with the longer, Government model magazines, regardless of brand. Never did figure that out. |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
Just picked up a pocket holster for my P938 today.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Anyone partake in the BMG? Looked at a wide range of manufacturers over the years and keep leaning towards EDM. Never shot any of them so it makes it difficult to decide based off internet forums and appearance. Sure a M107A would do but I ain't trying to spend $13k and still have to buy optics.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Way back when, I had an opportunity to buy one of the first (a single shot bolt) models. I'm kinda kicking myself for not doing it. It would be fun to have one sometimes.

They have some camo-ish stuff that doesn't look bad. I'm all about the stainless and rosewood, myself. I'd carry that blue thing up until I could trade it in on a gun that doesn't have a vagina. But that's just me. |

Then I'd get it out and wear it out, too. I lived in the sticks and the first thing the guys sold to pay their fines were their guns. Always a good deal, and I was always there to snap them up. I've never kept anything, really. A .35 Reminton for deer hunting, a really old single shot rimfire, and a few handguns. Actually only one of those is mine, I bought one for Weeze to learn on and I bought one for my daughter a long time ago. I want a Kimber 9mm for under my jacket and the LCP for my boot. Then I'll probably get some throwing stars and nunchucks and go full ninja. Change my name to Arimimochichi Aririkitakataka or something sweet like that. |

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Gang I was looking in the safe this week and found three handguns wearing night sights with "born on" dates of 2002. And yeah they are getting dim. There goes some more $$$. But if possible I'm only replacing the tritium up front, that works faster and near as accurate in low light as a full set. This will save some $$$.

Re: First Firearm Thread.
Anybody here use gunbot.net to find ammo?
I've been using this site for a while and I usually end up going with freedom munitions for all of my range ammo. They have a daily sale on their site and I just picked up 500 rounds of .40 FMJ for $100. Can't beat $.20/round. It is reloaded ammo, but I've probably put somewhere between 500-750 rounds of this stuff through my guns and i've never had an issue with it. |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
I've used GunBot in the past to find a few decent deals on ammo. It actually led me inadvertently to a shop here in Vegas that has some of the best deals on range ammo I've found anywhere.
Now if I could just find that mythical .22 that's rumored to still exist.... |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
I have been happy with gunbot. There are a few sites on there that I dont trust. Now I have a handful that I just check when I need ammo.
Places they have led me for good deals. Midway Palmetto Armory Cabelas Freedom Munitions <reloads and new. Both are great product for the range |
Re: First Firearm Thread.
Gunbot is pretty handy. I've found some decent scores on rimfire ammo in the past. I wish they had better sorting when looking at their reloading stuff....
