Re: NHL 2013 Thread
I thought the Avs outplayed them, but that's not the first team to do it, E.J.....somehow, they find a way. Half the abbreviated season done without a regulation loss. Just wow.

Re: NHL 2013 Thread
Sure hope they save some of this momentum for the playoffs
Bring "The Cup" back to Chicago Don |

NHLPA approves NHL realignment plan Mike Brehm, USA TODAY Sports6:03p.m. EST March 7, 2013 Executive director Donald Fehr said the NHL Players' Association has given its blessing to the league's realignment plan for next season. The league, which has needed to make changes to its setup since the Atlanta Thrashers moved to Winnipeg in 2011, will go from the current six-division alignment to four. The Detroit Red Wings and the Columbus Blue Jackets would move to the Eastern Conference and the Winnipeg Jets would move west. In the Eastern Conference, Detroit would join the Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres, Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Ottawa Senators in the Central Division. Columbus would join the Carolina Hurricanes, Washington Capitals, Pittsburgh Penguins, New Jersey Devils, Philadelphia Flyers, New York Rangers and New York Islanders in the Atlantic. Winnipeg would join the Chicago Blackhawks, Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators and St. Louis Blues in the Midwest. That leaves the Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, Phoenix Coyotes, San Jose Sharks, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks in the Pacific. Fehr said that the new setup would be re-evaluated after the 2014-15 season. "Our next step will be to bring the proposed plan for realignment to the NHL board of governors for its consideration," deputy commissioner Bill Daly said. "We will update the status of the process as future developments warrant." |
Re: NHL 2013 Thread
I'm bummed the Wings will only be in town once a season, but I understand what the league is trying to do.

Re: NHL 2013 Thread
Four original six in the East :tu

Have to assume Sharp is out, any word on Hossa or Shaw. I'm guessing Hossa is playing....

Yeah I think there is a chance tonight.
Wondering if Sharks can right the ship before playoffs. Not looking good as they just cant score. Betting some big names finally get moved this summer if they dont get it together. |
Re: NHL 2013 Thread
Pens finally played some inspired hockey for half a game last night, coming back from a 4-1 deficit to beat the Flyer Scum 5-4.
In my thinking, this probably didn't save Dan Bylsma. I think he's gone this year and the only thing keeping him behind the bench is the short season. If he can't engineer his way past the built-to-beat-the-Pens Flyer Scum on a regular basis, it shows a huge weakness in his ability to coach our club. It's much the same as the Ravens building their club to get through the Steelers. They know they have to go through them to take home the hardware. They've done that successfully. The Pens haven't done that vs. the Flyer Scum. Last night they got lucky. That ain't gonna get it. We need a couple mentally deranged mucking defensemen, one of which can handle a puck. Ulf Murphy. |
Re: NHL 2013 Thread
I'm in, Scott! Lucky or not, good comeback last night for the Pens.
E.J., Sharp is out for 2-4 weeks. Hossa lookis like he will go, it was rumored to be the flu. Shaw is the unknown, I was hoping he would be in and get a chance to return the cheap elbow. ;) |

Should be a good game tonight...wouldn't be suprised if there were a couple dust ups early on.:sl
On another note Dierks Bentley who has a concert tonight in OKC skated after our pregame skate and chatted with some of the guys. Definitely a big hockey fan, even plays in an adult league in Nashville, seems like a pretty nice guy. https://twitter.com/goicehogs/status/310107303405830144 |
Re: NHL 2013 Thread
6 games in 9 nights, playing a mile high...Hawks are outta gas. Congrats, E.J., looks like your Boys did what no one else has been able to do in a half a season. Quite a run though, second best in NHL history. Just hoping to win the last game in late May.
|
Re: NHL 2013 Thread
^^^^ Not over.... The magic the 'Hawks have had the past bit....when there is 4-5 minutes with this lead, I'll feel good...
|
Re: NHL 2013 Thread
Oh damn.
and hell the game isn't over yet I was at the old garden and saw the bruins score three in the last few minutes to come from behind and win. |

Re: NHL 2013 Thread
MD is having a year so far... Wonder if it's just natural progression or just the fear of Landeskog/ROR is pushing him to another level.
|
Re: NHL 2013 Thread
MD is just a helluva hockey player...if (or when) the Avs can shore up their D, they will be a factor in the West. :2

Re: NHL 2013 Thread
Maybe we need a goalie change for the 3rd.....

Classy comments from a couple of the Avs' stars last night:

Re: NHL 2013 Thread
Avs have been flying around the ice the last 10 days. Wins/losses, whatever...playing great hockey. Again tonight(1st against the Sharks)... Not a great record, but the kids are skating...if they can keep playing well, they're dangerous.
|
Re: NHL 2013 Thread
Note....not SC dangerous,(though meh, who knows) but I wouldn't want to be the 1-2 hooking up with them... Go Avs!!!
|
Re: NHL 2013 Thread
.....& the Chicago comeback so far is the reason I wasn't super comfortable with the Avs lead.... Man they have some firepower!
Watching the Rupper fight, man those punches into a helmet have to hurt....OUCH! |
Re: NHL 2013 Thread
Great finish! Hate to give up 1.... But will take the 2
|
Re: NHL 2013 Thread
Yup, the Hawks showed a lot of character in the 3rd and almost pulled off another miracle finish. 3 days off, time to get back on track.
|
Re: NHL 2013 Thread
The Wild are finally starting to gel. Playing really well right now. Scoring from all lines, defensemen too. Power play finally working again. Fun to watch.
|
Re: NHL 2013 Thread
Wish I could make tge same statement about the sharks. Disaster. Similar to Rangers situation.
Atleast there is plenty of good hockey to watch. |
Re: NHL 2013 Thread
Got a feeling the powers that be are going to do something. The Sharks are underachieving like never before. Cant see firing the coach.

But...I don't think Disco Dan is going anywhere. The Pens D sucked hard for a while, and they are still not where they should be but the Pens have always been great at developing talent and when they can't get what they need that way, they make big trades. I heard they were interested in Jack Johnson, and several CBJ personel were in Pittsburgh last week. I just wonder who would be involved in that trade! |
Re: NHL 2013 Thread
Nice win by the Wild tonight! Suter and Parise with two assists each. We are really seeing why they are getting paid like they are. Cullen has been playing like a man possessed lately as well.
For a shortened season, this is really shaping up to be a lot of fun! |
Re: NHL 2013 Thread
Great goaltending duel by Crawford and Bobrovsky tonight in Ohio....Toews and Kane get the Hawks a shootout win, hopefully the start of another streak of Ws.
|
Re: NHL 2013 Thread
That OT was one of the best in recent memory Tom. Crazy end to end action. Favorite goal of the shootout was Anisimovs. That backhand roof shot was dirty. Got to teach the little man that one.

Re: NHL 2013 Thread
Knew they would implode a little at the end. Glad they hung on.
Murray has got to be one of the slowest defensemen in the league. I think my kid could hang with him And hes making a lot of bad mistakes. Didnt like the fact that in the 3rd the Kings got away with multiple penalties with no call. I know they let them play, but hauling someone down has to he called. Saturday is going to ba a nasty game as this one almost got away from the refs. |

Clutterbuck does in fact hit everything, but on the hit that prompted that fight, I actually thought he could have been called for boarding. He came off the bench and went straight for the hit by the penalty box. But your point is well made. His hits are almost always clean. |
Re: NHL 2013 Thread
Uuuuuuuggh brutal game for Sharks. I keep wondering when they are going to make a change.

How can you fire Mclellan. http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2...beating-kings/ What do you do? I would like to see a major D over haul. I think Murray, Boyle, and possibly V Pickles could be moved. Its just ugly to watch the D these days. |
Re: NHL 2013 Thread
Ducks have the misfortune of having an awesome season the same time as the Hawks... they have been breathing right down the Hawks' necks from the beginning, but only the hard-core fans realize how great they are playing.
