We already had Traber, glad to see he's doing just as well with the Sox as he did with us :r

And what is up with Mike Lowell? I remember him as a decent 3-rd baseman when he was with my Yankees, but he has the range of a statue now. Did that surgery lame him that much, or does he just not care anymore?

Yankees got lucky last night. Joba had nothing last night. Luckily Smoltz had even less.

None of the Yankees pitchers were good. We gave up twelve walks!

Melky had a great HR though. That was a huge HR.

Smoltz needs to go, that 8 ERA is doing nobody good.

Giants and Reds start a 3 game series tonight, Bailey and Timmy are starting out. This will hopefully be 3 easy wins, I'll be at the game Sunday when Matt Cain starts. :tu

When the batter swings through his knee, that's NOT a ball.

and Mike Winters is an asshole. He might have made some better calls if he pulled his head out of his ass.

The joint damage that led to the surgery did slow him up that much. He still cares as much as any player in baseball. How much of an impression of him could you get in 8 games, 3 started when he was with the Yankees in 1998?

Heard about that. Heard Alex Rios got picked up on waivers too, though I don't who claimed him or if it went through.

And Ortiz is pulling a Clemens and denying steroid use. Cause the tests lie :r

This one doesn't make any sense to me. Rios is a young stud who just signed a multi-year deal. And they put him on waivers??? Why???

My guess is that they don't want to pay that 65 million dollar contract.

Kinda early to say this, but this August is starting to remind me of the Augusts of my youth; Red Sox pack it in and the Yankees pull away.

Yankees are playing really good ball...and some great pitching the past few games. If they keep this pace up (much as I hate to say it), they are gonna be tough to beat. As for my Mets...there's always next year!!!

Re: *2009 MLB Thread*

I am glad that they are getting some wins against the Red Sox right now. It takes the Sox down a few pegs from their recent domination over the Yankees.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Red Sox NOT score today until the 3rd inning.

That way it will be 20 consecutive scoreless innings.;s

Yankees just activated Chad Gaudin and now have an extra pitcher I read this morning.

I like their chances this year.

I think they sent down Mark Melancon to make room for Gaudin. He is a nice pick up since he can do short or long relief and he can start.

It ended up at 31 innings before that 2-run homer put them on top last night - for about 15 minutes. :r

That was a huge series for the Yankees. They will be even more confident for the rest of the season.
We have done nothing until we do damage in the post season.
Still, it feels good to be in Boston with the Yankees doing so well.
I am hoping I can wear my jersey and cap proudly in a few months, keep it rolling Bombers.

30 mins until the Yankees/Blue Jays game. Tonight is the Yankees week link in the rotation with Mitre going.

Icing on the cake is when the Rays take over second place in the AL East, the Red Sox miss the playoffs, and things go back to the way the have always been before this brief period of Red Sox non-suckiness.
