Mike hooked me up with one of his buddies that makes Kydex holsters. Got it yesterday, and it is sweet!

It's definitely well made. Pretty comfortable too, even with my spare tire.

I can guess what a lot of people got for Christmas. I was just looking at PSA for kits to build out some lowers and they are cleaned out. I guess I'll wait a bit.

Re: First Firearm Thread.

When Steve posted his kydex holster it made me think about how much I like mine. I have had it now for over six months and carry a full size 1911 in it all day with no discomfort at all and usually only cover with a t-shirt. It's from a company called Panther Concealment (Jacksonville, FL) and if I didn't have one I wouldn't believe how good it is. www.pantherconcealment.com I think. I have nothing to do with them other than I have bought a holster from them and like it a lot.

Good looking holsters Greg. One thing I really like about the one I got is the sweat guard between me and the slide though.

Yep, I wish mine had one, but they will make it with one if you request it. they are some of the best at making sure you get what you want that I have ever seen.

Quick Question: Anyone ever heard of a gun referred to as a "R2 R2"?

8zeros 12-26-2013 06:00 PM

Re: First Firearm Thread.

Searching for "r2 gun" got some interesting results. I like the 50 BMG one.

You know, it's not often that I have to admit I was totally wrong about something. Slightly mistaken maybe, confused possibly, but usually not completely wrong. But tonight I must admit I was way off on spending ~$30 on a "gun" belt. A friend gave me a 511 belt tonight that was a little large for him and I cannot believe the difference in comfort and feel!

Wow, I wish I had tried one a lot sooner!

I owe a lot of people an apology for thinking they were nuts for spending that kind of money for a belt!

It took me a few months to decide to get the 511 Casual belt. Once it came in and i wore it for a few days with the holster.. I regret not getting it sooner.

Now all I need is a red dot on her to be complete. Maybe change out the muzzle break for something better.

Psh that'll be a while. Gotta wait for my new tattoo to heal and then finish the shading and continue on my sleeve. :r

Talk about a slippery slope!

Anyone recommend a decent, budget spotting scope? I am not into hunting, more for range and rec use. 100 bucks is a bit high for me.

Always have deals

I have prime free for a month.. Maybe even here.

You can usually find some pretty good deals on auctionarms or gunbroker you may have to look a little but that is half the fun.

Re: First Firearm Thread.

Anyone have thoughts on Crimson Trace grips? A LGS has a M&P Shield .40 with the CT, 3 extra mags for $639. Gun is used, but looks to be in perfect shape.

Steve 01-04-2014 05:30 PM

Re: First Firearm Thread.

A buddy just picked up a G29 10mm, so I ordered a RDR Kydex holster from Remo's buddy as a late Christmas present.

http://oldchurchbbq.com/sharedpictur...0IWB%20001.jpg

http://oldchurchbbq.com/sharedpictur...0IWB%20002.jpg

Beautiful work! My buddy is pretty picky about things and also never thought he could carry a IWB because of his body shape, but he loves this holster. With just a pull over you couldn't tell he was wearing it, definitely impressed him.

Thanks again Mike for the hook-up!

bonjing 01-04-2014 05:32 PM

Re: First Firearm Thread.

Not a bad price. I can't remember the going rate for the shield (plus I'm basing off Cali prices) is but I've seen the ct grip is about $170 ish and the mags can be about $40 a piece (I'm basing off all full M&P fill sized pricing). So if it looks barely used and it's something you want I'd go for it.

Chainsaw13 01-04-2014 05:39 PM

Re: First Firearm Thread.

Thanks Greg. I'll have to go back and look. That may have been a Smith Compact instead of the Shield.

bonjing 01-04-2014 05:58 PM

Re: First Firearm Thread.

Just make sure it's with 3 extra mags not just total. Shield or compact I'd do if I had the extra scratch. Is it 639 out the door?

Re: First Firearm Thread.

As far as Crimson Trace, I love them.

Chainsaw13 01-04-2014 06:06 PM

Re: First Firearm Thread.

Will do. Also see a M&Pc on Armslist with 4 total mags (2 ext), 50rnds ammo and a IWB holster for $500.

As long as it's in good shape, I might pull the trigger. The holster is nothing special, but I know where I can get a better one. :D

No laser grips for me. Just the sights. Not sure work is too fond of not being able to testify that I used the gun how I was trained.

Re: First Firearm Thread.

I've been looking on the intewebz. I've got two unbuilt lowers set aside already but I like the 80% idea. I have a cheap Harbor Freight Mill/Drill That I think could do a good job on one of these. Prob'ly a good idea to get a few and the tooling while it's still legal.

I think I want one, the pistol is nice too ;)

I'm not a glock fan boy but they make a heck of a pistol an this new one seems really nice with an extended tail, just wish it was in 9mm though.

Don't mind a .380 for wife.

Just saw that. Wish it was a 9mm, I've been wanting them to come out with a single stack for so long.

In other news I got an awesome little S&W model 36. Was made in 1969. My old man had it entirely refurbished for me for christmas. Its like a brand new gun

Nope. No way in hell am I buying a .380 that big when there are MANY 9mm pistols smaller or the same size.

$5 says my 1911 is thinner than that G42.
