You mean the P238?

My wife has the HD model that has more weight to it.
Very 1911 like.
Incredibly accurate with minimal recoil compared to my Ruger LCP.
Great night sights standard.

Ya, 238, a buddy brought one into work the other day...slick!!

Yup, thanks Carlos...his was a dark earth color :tu

Blueface 10-31-2013 04:36 PM

Re: First Firearm Thread.

While it costs about twice as much as an LCP, it's 10 times better.
My wife who is still skidish handles it like a pro.
The non HD does have a slight more recoil, but minimal.
Only issue with it, a non issue if you are use to 1911's, is that you need to carry it with the hammer cocked, and as result, I think the safety on is a must

A semi-tale of autos

http://i1210.photobucket.com/albums/...psfcb9106b.jpg

Added the third from top today. S&W Bodyguard 380. Top of frame is my oldest, my Baby Browning .25. Retiring it today to the gun safe, just too hard to find parts if it should break. Next down is the Bodyguard .380, which will replace the Baby Browning as a daily carry. Really nice action on the S&W, much easier for my wife to rack than the Ruger LCP we also looked at.

Next is the Ruger LC9 9mm she carries in the car. The biggest is the S&W 9mm I picked up several months ago, to rotate with my Browning BDA .380 as a daily carry. Browning is the gun safe, or it would be in photo too.

I love my S&W Shield (9mm)! I have fairly large hands, I always shoot using the extended mag and I picked up a pachmayr grip glove which helped a lot.

Going to sign up for my ccw class today. Met a retired ISP trooper who's hosting a class with another trooper for a decent price. Hopefully I can get my permit by Feb or March 2014. ISP apparently hired 80 guys to implement this whole thing so hopefully it's fairly streamlined.

Are you required to test, then assign only one handgun to your CCW, or does your CCW allow you to carry any handgun under the permit? If you don't already have a favorite handgun in your collection. I suggest you find a store that will allow you to handle and shoot as many makes and models as possible to find the right fit. I personally enjoy the XD9, Glock 17 or 19, and the 1911 is awesome for home defense (just a fun model IMO). But each gun feels different to each person. However, I am interested to hear Remo's response has this is in his wheelhouse... Regardless, good luck bud and let us know your selection.

per the trooper I talked with at the gun shop, I can test with whatever pistol I want and carry whatever pistol I want. I don't have to test with the gun I will be carrying. I haven't read the entire law yet so it's possible he's wrong about that.

That's good. Some states (even) Nevada before 2013 only allowed one handgun to a permit. Now we can carry what ever we want.

Do suppressors work on pistol length barrels?

I'm sure they CAN. Might have to fiddle with the over gassing caused by the back pressure from the can though for reliable operation

This build is almost finished, some minor adjustments ahead, heat stippling, and the optic selection is still TBD.

Word of advice, it those are MBUS sights, they're not heat resistant enough to be on the gas block from what Magpul says. Just an FYI.

Appreciate the advice. My local shop suggested them, as he runs them on one of his peices. (Temps until we can narrow down the optics of choice). Anyway, several 100 rounds down under some intense heat and all is well so far. But will closely watch/monitor.
