They can't win every game. The goal is to win the series.

You have to give them something to hang on so they don't give up completly.

Yeah, that's true. That's OK, we lost to them at the battle of the bay and to this day have no idea why.

Even bad teams win a few here and there. The Giants lost a game to the Nats last month and they are the worst team in the League :r

They have him for 1B, C & DH. It is definately a good pick for them. A nice bat and now relief for their older players that are breaking down.

He's 30, soon to be 31. Not exactly young. And he can't be an every-game catcher because of knee problems, so he's sitting basically in the same spot that Laroche was yesterday. He's there to sub for Youkilis, Lowell Ortiz or Varitek. I suppose that gives them a bit more versatility in resting people, but still. What they really needed was a SS with a bat and at least a little bit of fielding prowess. You know, the kind of guy who won't make the closer blow a three-run lead in the 9th by making two absurd errors...

My head is spinning from all these last minute moves!!! LaRoche back to the Braves...what did they trade him to Pittsburgh to begin with??? Martinez to the Red Sox...like others, where is he gonna play, especially with them just picking up Kotchman. Peavy to the White Sox for four un-proven minor leaugers? Sounds like a GREAT deal for the White Sox, terrible for the Padres. And there are still a few hours until midnight!!

A little late because I was away this weekend, but I have to say that Cliff Lee is an animal. If that first start was a sign of things to come, I think I might be in love. Shame the rest of the team isn't swinging the bat very well all of the sudden.

Well, the Yankees stop their slide, with Melky hitting for the cycle. If he can just do that every night, we might stay inna race.

Telling games coming up for both the Yankees and the Sox this weekend, 4 game series at that park in the Bronx that was not built by Ruth.

It will be a good series I think. Boston is playing better and the Yankees win in streaks so who knows. If they get swept again i think i'll just throw in the towel for the year :r

The Giants have been looking pretty good as of the past few games. They certainly didn't make the Phillies look too good, well aside from the game that Lee pitched. It will be interesting to see what happens if we meet you guys in a playoff series.

Yeah, we managed to lose last night 4-3. I don't know what went wrong.

Anyway, game 2 of the series tonight.

You guys have CO starting tonight, they are on fire with a 4 game winning streak.

The 10 games back would not bother me as much as the fact that there are 3 teams ahead of them in the NL East, and 6 in the wild card. Now, that hurts.

That was a perfect hit batter for Mota. Fastball below the waist. He did not go up and in around the head. He earned respect from his teammates after they got hit twice the inning before. It is all part of the game.

Eli Whiteside never hit a MLB home run.

Today the bases were loaded and his first MLB HR, just happens to be a GRAND SLAM!!!!

Just sayin'. With 70+ games left, one can make up 10 games (well, 9.5 for the moment). You can ask the '51 Giants if you don't believe me. But passing all those teams means they all have to slide, or your Mets need get solar hot.

BTW, how the hell do you manage to get on the DL by entering the dugout? :r

Tell me about it...paid millions of dollars, but can't walk into the damn dugout. Maybe he misses the other half of the team and wanted to join them on the DL. As for making some ground up? I don't see it happening...we can't seem to piece a series together to save our a$$es. David Wright and Johan Santana can't do it all by themselves. Besides those two and Angel Pagan, the rest of the team is asleep.

Real nice win for the Yankees last night, despite the bad pitching from Mitre. If they keep playing the way they are now and manage to win a few games against Boston there gonna start running away with the division.
