Nice review, JD. :tu

I had a Don Pepin Blue lancero last night at the local B&M, and I forgot to get a picture.

Thanks! I didn't know Don Pepin had a lancero. Was it good? I enjoyed the My Father lancero, though not nearly as much as the comparably priced or cheaper Fabrica 005 lancero.

My wife and I smoked two Fabrica 5 lanceros last night and we really liked them.

Do the Tatuaje "Skinny Monster" cigars count as lanceros? If so I've had a few of each off and on since one of the shops got them in mid September. Frank, Hyde, and the Wolf, I think?

I'm not much for doing reviews, so I'll just say I like all varieties enough to buy more. But they're not so delicious that I'd chew 'em up and eat 'em instead of smoking them.

It was very good, JD. I tend to lean towards the smaller ring gauge NW cigars, so right in my wheelhouse in that way as well.

My Father #4 lancero (7.5" x 38)

Nice looking wrapper with a faint floral aroma similar to the RP Sun Grown. Heavy in the hand, good construction and perfect draw.

Honestly, this one was a bit disappointing. I like most DPG cigars, but this one has an "off" flavor on the finish that I just don't care for. I thought it might be a fluke, so I unwrapped one from the cello and let it sit for a few weeks. Same thing. A weird, unpleasant flavor on the finish.

Interesting! I smoked two of them and enjoyed both. I found them smooth and pleasant throughout, with no off flavors. Not as complex as some others in this vitiola, but a good smoke with clean consistent burn and draw and no flaws I could detect. I wonder what happened to yours? Both of mine were in cello at 65/65 for a month or two before smoking.

Smoked a Triniadad Espiritu #3 tonight. Technically they call it a Fundadores but it's more of a box pressed lancero. Very nice dark oily wrapper with a good feel. Predominant notes were dark sweet raisin with a touch of cocoa and chili. It was not particularly complex and remained consistent down to the last third, where it got a bit ashy and vegetal. Not bad, but not sure I'd buy another.

This comment grabbed my attention! I recently bought several 5 packs of different sizes of these lines to check out, since it has become next to impossible to buy CCs anymore (busted 4 times in the past 2 years, none of the old school vendors shipping to the US).

I smoked a lancero ROTT and found it to be very good but not great, and certainly not a replacement for CCs. I'll let the remaining 4 sticks sleep in the humi for a while and then do another review.

I've smoked quite a few of the Espiritu #2 Fundadores and found them to be a solid smoke, but not a mind-blower. I didn't know that the $3 came in a Fundadores. Thanks for the review!
