Look on the bright side, Mets fans - you don't seem to be heading to a third straight September collapse.

Sox made some moves. LaRoche from Pittsburgh and Duncan from St Louis. Shoring up the bench I guess, neither strikes me as much of an impact player.

The Red Sox getting rid of Lugo was a great move.

No doubt. But neither move makes much sense to me. LaRoche isn't all that great a hitter and can only play first base. Which Kotsay was doing just fine when he needed to. And Duncan they just sent down to the minors

The LaRoche move seems to be a just in case move which cost them nothing and the Lugo for Duncan move was just to get rid of Lugo who they have been shopping all year.

I am pleased, but not shocked. Aside from that blip in Anaheim they have been playing great ball for a month now. As for the Sox, I am shocked they've lost 5 of 6, but it's way too early to be pleased. It is late July, not September.

Yes, ATL has been playing top notch against us (SF). We won today, but sucked ass the rest of the series.

Congrats to Mark Buehrle on his perfect game. Wise made an incredible catch in the 9th to keep it intact.

He better be getting 2 or 3 for that catch. That was also the 1st time someone has hit a grand slam during a perfect game.

What are the Mets going to do? They need something to give them a reason to show up to the ballpark.

To be fair to kelmac, the Mets are doing about what you'd expect with all the injuries they've had. Hang in there, Michael. :tu

Yeah...with Reyes, Delgado, Beltran, Putz, and Maine all the DL we have been getting hammered. Reyes, Delgado & Beltran were supposed to be back afte the All Star game...that was 18 games ago??? Being 10.5 games down does not look good right now...especially with these guys all eeding rehabd assignments before coming back. My fear is that we are too far down to crawl back up. And the minor league system doesn't have enough to keep us afloat. Being a die hard Mets and with the current payroll...I DON"T WANT TO HEAR EXCUSES from Minaya. I want some butts!!

Yankees just won their 8th straight game. Red Sox also won so the lead on them remains at 2.5 games.

They looked good tonight. Robertson wasn't so hot in the ninth, but a solid effort overall.

He does not get much work out there with Hughes, Aceves & Rivera doing most of the work. That was a good 8th inning for the Yankees also.

What do you know...the Mets won!! We beat the red-hot Astros..but still 10.5 games out (because the Phillies keep winning). Might be too little, too late.

Gigantes played well last night, we still have a good shot at the wild card.

Tim pitched his ass off last night, let's hope Zito does not blow it.

Brian Anderson has never lived up to his potential. What the hell are the Sox gonna do with him? At least with Kotsay, you had a reliable bat and the veteran presence....with Anderson, you get a unproven, .240 hitter with some speed.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Chicago White Sox ace Mark Buehrle has set a major league record by retiring 45 straight batters.

Coming off a perfect game in his last start against Tampa Bay, Buehrle retired the first 17 Minnesota Twins batters to surpass the record of 41 straight set by and San Francisco's Jim Barr in 1972 and tied by teammate Bobby Jenks, a reliever, in 2007.
