Reserva MiraFlor Robusto
Appearance: 8
Construction: 8.5
Draw: 8
Burn: 7.5
Overall 8 out of 10
I was asked by my local (and bestest) B&M Azon Cigars to review this cigar. Mike (the owner of Azon) was IMing with Andy Madera (the owner of Reserva MiraFlor) while I was smoking it and giving him my puff-by-puff commentary. Its not everyday that you smoke a cigar with the factory owner "watching".
Attractive looking cigar, smooth with no cracks or splits. The only thing in the appearance I didn't care for was the band. I am a big fan of cigar bands and this one did nothing for me.
Excuse the cell phone photos please. I wasn't expecting to review a cigar, so I was a bit ill prepared.
Cut cleanly, draw was very good. Lit up easily via the Da Klugs method.
First half-inch smacked me in the mouth with black-pepper, which I really dont care for. After that half inch the cigar mellowed out and the black pepper really faded. Andy was expecting the pepper flavor for the first bit.

I knocked the ash off shortly after this point to prevent ashing on the table, shortly after which Mike relayed a message from Andy telling me not to tap off the ash. So I waited to let the next portion fall.

You can see from the ash that the stick is constructed very well. Nice pancake stack or biscuit layer ash. Shortly after this I did end up ashing all over the table.

Burn wasnt what I would call razor sharp... it did have some un-evenness, which tended to work its way out by rotating it... I dont remember touching this stick up once.

Didnt smoke much past this point because the final third made a nasty turn. I really didnt like the flavor I was getting out of it, so I put it down shortly after this last pic.
Over all impressions of this cigar, decent. Would I buy this cigar, No... only because I dont care for the pepper flavor.
Would I recommend this cigar to somebody who like Pepin sticks, Yes, as long as it was priced right. I would say if this was priced at around $5 then it might be worth a try for the Pepin lover.
