Alec Bradley Tempus Centuria

http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/picture.php?albumid=64&pictureid=1210

The wrapper and binder are Honduran and the filler is a Honduran and Nicaraquan blend.

I have really been looking forward to tonights review. My friend over at Tex Cigars, Mike, sent me a few cigars to review and included an Alec Bradley Tempus. I've never smoked one before but I sure have heard alot about it. Cigar Insider named it the 2nd best cigar of 2008 only be nudged out by Rocky Patel's Decade Torpedo. The Alec Bradley Tempus received a 94 from the Cigar Insider. 94...are you kidding me!! This by far is the highest rated cigar I have ever had the pleasure of smoking.

The Centuria is a Churchill measuring 7 x 49. The cigar seemed a little dry on the cut. It lit with no problems. The draw from the start was perfect. Not too tight and not too loose. The first part of the cigar has a very smooth slightly earthy flavor with just a touch of sweetness. The burn needed to be evened out once or twice at the beginning but finished fine. The ash dropped off of the cigar at about half an inch.

About half way through and the wrapper started coming apart. This did not affect the draw or the burn. The cigar has started to develop a much more complex flavor. The stick has become much more full bodied than at the start.

Almost done now and I'm really enjoying this cigar. For lack of a better term it is what I would describe as "pure". The sweet and the woodsy flavors were blended perfectly. This is definately one of the best cigars that I personally have ever smoked. Remember I mentioned the dryness earlier, the unraveling wrapper and the uneven burn. Turns out none of those affected the cigar's truely great flavor. I don't think you can go wrong with this bad boy. Total smoke time was about an hour and a half.

Thanks for reading.

I gave the only one I had away to a good buddy...ah well, there's plenty of time left in my life to add it back to the never-ending list!

Great review, thanks.

I mention Mike with Tex Cigars in the review above, but that is actually Matt.

Cut me some slack, both start with "M" and both have 4 letters...Close, right?

I've smoked both the Robusto and the Lancero. The Robusto was far from interesting, the Lancero however was a nice stick offering tons of dark rich flavors like chocolate, coffee, and cedar. A wonderful stick, no. A good stick for something different once in a while, yeah!

I always liked the Tempus series. I would go for the Magestri. It's more of a perfecto shape, but I think it smokes better than the rest. Just my opinion.

I had one of these the other day for the first time, great smoke.
I found it started a little rough but after about a 1/4 1/2 inch in it was excellent.
I will Surely have another

These are good. I was surprised at how well they draw. The draw is about perfect, even intoxicating, which is noteworthy for a 7 inch cigar.

Nice smoke, but was expecting a more dynamic flavor profile for such a large and highly-touted stick. It had a very good, one-dimensional flavor throughout.

(The robusto unraveled on me and had NO flavor.)

The Centuria however -I really enjoyed it, but probably won't revist again for such a price.

My experience as well, plenty of body with not much in flavor profile.
