really want a new macbook.... can't justify it though. Just put a 320GB HDD in my macbook and have 2 gigs of ram.... does everything I need it to do.

Considering i just got a macbook in July, I don't think it would be wise to have macbook envy just yet. They do look purrrrrty.

I'd love one, but don't really need one. My MacBook is keeping it real as we speak, so no need to get rid of a good thing just yet. :2

I got the emails & deleted them before I could look (drool)... My girlfriend & I both have Macbooks that have yet to skip a beat. Upgrading would be nice, but a little frivolous at this point.

I've got the most recent MBP at home, but I'm trying like heck to get a new one for work.

That 733mhz Quicksilver G4 tower is not cutting it!

A lot of people are up in arms about the new macbooks and the lack of firewire support. I know that I use FW to get video off of my camcorder. That's not a good sign because I'd have to go up to the MBP to get FW.

That's a lot of money that I could donate to the devil.

Seems like Apple has just about cut out FW from everything. I went to buy a new iPod the other day and noticed that they no longer support FW either. My last iPod I bought 4 years ago came with everything, a charger, FW, USB, dock. Pfft. Now all they give me is the iPod and USB cable. WTF is up with that?

When Apple changed the iPod lineup to USB 2.0; Firewire's days were numbered. It is still there for the MacBook Pro but reality is fewer devices are coming with Firewire 400. They left the FW800 port for the rest of the line for those that want to do faster transfer. Reality is that eSata is the next big thing. The express slot cards that support eSata are going to start moving. I know we have a few people at my job with those.

All that being said; I totally want the new MacBook Pro. I had a 1st gen MBP but I had to give it back to work when I changed positions. Now I'm using a Dell 14" laptop. Just not as nice. Yet, the laptop is only 8 months old so I'll have to buy my own MBP if I want it. :(

Just got back from "looking" at them. Played with the macbook for almost an hour. The so called all glass trackpad took a couple minutes to get used too, but its pretty damn cool. I really want the $1600 model with the backlit keyboard (love this feature on my MBP), but might settle for the $1300 model.

They are neat, but unless you game a bit I can't see them being much better than the last generation spec wise.

I asked Anita if I could get a new Macbook and she said sure, when yours breaks. I see an accident in my future. Nah mine is 2 years old and works fine. It does suck about the FW since I have a new OWC Neptune. It is sweeeeeeeet though.

Have a 2.1 GB dual processor Mac tower (last one before the switch to intel chips) and a MBP I bought last Apple. I'm good to go for now. Don't use firewire so won't miss it. When I need to do fast transfers between the MBP and the desktop I just plug in an ethernet cable.

I love my Macbook, though sometimes I miss having a dedicated GPU. Still, the size is perfect for school and doing research in the stacks.

I still don't really know how I feel about the lack of firewire on the Macbook. I use it for my external hard drive, but I could just as easily use USB. Still, I really like target disk mode. There are other ways to do essentially the same thing, but that way is just simpler.

Went and checked them out at the Apple Store while in CLE. They do look nice but I'm going to stick with my current MBP for now. Maybe in another year or so...

looked at them yesterday, and they are nice, I like the aluminum case very much. that being said, the mac air is still sexy as hell to me too.

They did drop the prices on the different models by $100. But they also increased the size of the hard drives so that makes them even less expensive.

I got a newer MB in August, the black one...My one-upper of a roomate just got his new one in today. So far I am very happy with mine. I will give some thoughts about the new one when after I play with it later today.

I have the previous gen MBP aluminum unibody with the backlit keyboard, firewire, 13inch screen with a 2.26 processor and 250gb HD. This thing runs beautifully. The newer model that was just released goes from a "7hr battery" in mine to a "10hr battery". It also goes up to a 2.4ghz processor and a new NVIDEA 320M graphics card. For me, I just do basic photo and video editing and basic laptop functions. For me, the slight upgrade in processor and graphics card isn't worth it. The extended battery life would be nice, but I'll pass. Where the new MBP's shine is in the 15inch and 17inch category where they introduce the new processors and have better graphics power.
