View Full Version : Any sympathy for South Florida?

Blueface

Wednesday morning low expected to be around 40 degrees.
They say we may even see freezing temps inland.
Now you cold places folks are wondering why we are complaining about such heatwaves but that is darn, darn cold for us.
I have to pull out my down coat for this one.

Sympathy hell. I was in Orlando last week and froze my butt off, while back home in Cali they were having a heat wave in the 80's.

Thought I'd be able to soak up some Florida rays. Just no truth in advertising! :r

I love it.
If you see a teeny-tiny little silver sports car blow by you with the top off and a guy that looks like this: :D That's me enjoying this cool weather.
I know the 'fry an egg on the sidwalk' and 100% humidity days are all too close.
Oh, and savings on A/C bills don't hurt either!

Ill give ya some sympathy Carlos, since the frost is a bear for the citrus industry down South.

But thats it - last week, my thermometer read -20. Thats still a pretty good spread in favor of South Florida. The 10 minute walk from the train to the office downtown caused my nostril passages to freeze and nasal drippings to solidify over the upper lip... The first minute of exposure is OK, then it is survival mode...

I got sympathy for ya! Dropped into the 60s here the other night, had to close the windows and break out the flannels and extra blankets. Highs are only in the 70's. All the snowbirds laugh at me cause I sit outside at work with a jacket on when it is 78* at 3 in the afternoon!:D

We are at 43.
I assure you, for us very, very warm blooded South Floridans, that hurts all the way to the bone.
Just checked the Boca Raton Beach cam and it seems folks are there at the beach.
Must be tourists from up in the cold parts.:D

It was weird last week. I drove right up to a parking spot on freezing South Beach, got a table out front at News Cafe, and the only one I tripped over on the beach was a homeless person.

I wish I could report that a suprmodel gave me a lingering look, but that would be a lie.

Dang...28 on the thermo when I got up this morning to meet some friends for breakfast. Either I get a lot colder a lot quicker these days, or someone moved the south up several degress latitude!

To quote Jimmy ..."I gotta go where it's warm!"
