BECK ftw

I don't know about FTW but maybe FAI (For an improvement:r)
He did drive down and rush for a touchdown, something they couldn't seem to do the whole game.
I would have loved to see him get a chance to make a final 2 minute drive!

Yeah, FTW might not have been the best choice...but at least Rex is gone. That game was painful to watch.

Being a Redskins fan has its downs and it downs.

What do you guys think we need besides a quarterback?
Our O-line seemed to be doing well, before injuries sidelined a starter or two.
We don't have any solid #1 receivers, Moss is just to small.
I really like Fred Davis as a TE, he is a beast.
Orakpo and Kerrigan are a great pair going forward.
Torain and Helu are gonna make a good pair of backs to IMO.

Any other thoughts?

Yah I have bills, should prolly start paying them.
What a peculiar question to ask in this thread Mac.

My thoughts

Being a Redskins fan has its downs and it downs.

What do you guys think we need besides a quarterback? A new owner
Our O-line seemed to be doing well, before injuries sidelined a starter or two. I agree, the problem has been depth on the O-line but I suppose ya gotta start somewhere
We don't have any solid #1 receivers, Moss is just to small. Yep
I really like Fred Davis as a TE, he is a beast. Agreed, wish Cooley was healthy for a 2 TE set
Orakpo and Kerrigan are a great pair going forward. Agreed
Torain and Helu are gonna make a good pair of backs to IMO. I'm horribly disappointed that we only had Hightower for a few games--I've liked him since college, I think his running style suits what Shenanigans is trying to do with the offense. I'm not sold on Torain--he's a big, physical back, but that requires a stronger line which is a problem for us at the moment. I think Helu has promise.

Any other thoughts?

Man what a dissapointing season this is turning into, come on draft pick!
Is it possible that Grossman was wrong about his prediction?:r
I couldn't watch the game yesterday but from what I gathered it sounds we where doing a good job running the ball in the first half and almost abandoned that in the second?
I see Grossman had like 49 pass attempts????!!!!
And out D gave up 21 points in the 4th?!?!
Grossman fumbled inside the 10 and threw another Grosspick?!

Redskins have thrown 19 interceptions and our apponents average 8 this season! We are negative 13 in turnovers.

Roy Helu has impressed me greatly this season.

What are we gonna do when London FLetcher retires? He is always solid and our leading tackle!
I am thinking the Kerrigan/Orakpo combo is one to really build upon, this could develop into something truly great!

And what is going on with DHall, clearly not playing with the passion of last year!

So, what QB's are out there for the 5th-10th pick you think the Skins might snag?

I am hoping they can some how trade up, but who knows.
I don't follow college to know what looks good other than luck.
I would love to get Luck somehow and try to build around him, but that is a pipe dream. We will prolly trade our first three draft picks for a 45 year old QB who was pretty sharp 15 years ago. Oh maybe they will bring Brunell back for another try?!:td:r

Honestly I just hope we can somehow get a decent young QB, somebody that can stay with us for a few years. Alot of people don't like Shannihan either, I think Kyle has some learning to do, and made some game losing calls, but his dad is pretty knoweldgeable. I do not want to see anymore choaching changes for a while.

Redskins trade their first and second round pick this year and their first round picks for the next two years to St. Louis for the number 2 pick this year to get RGIII. Rumors are they will still try to get Peyton too.

Thats nuts!! No offense, but all those picks for one guy...hope he can turn your franchise around!! Its a long shot but I guess the Redskins have always been about the long shots...always investing a ton of money in one guy that never pans out.

Good luck Redskins....hope it works out for you!! (not to much though...being that I am an E..A..G..L..E..S!!! fan)

I think it's a great move on Dan Snyder's part. The first sensible one he's made yet.
This leaves $$$ intact, and if he LISTENS to someone who knows football, the Redskins have a shot.
Those odds are real slim, considering he's possibly the biggest asshole on the planet. Maybe he can put together a couple extra bucks by suing Redskins fans again? :lr

Not really a fair statement, seeing as how Luck at the very least is the best quarterback prospect since Carson Palmer. RGIII in any other draft goes #1. As a prospect, he's Michael Vick with a good head on his shoulders.:2

Well, when you consider that the Raiders gave up a first and second round pick (which could turn into a first) for a busted up guy that was sitting at home doing nothing, it sounds about right.:D

Rumor has it that Cleveland was offering three first round picks, but refused to pitch in their second rounder from this year. At the end of the day, if RGIII turns into Football Jesus, that'll just be another kick in the family jewels for the Cleveland fanbase.

I find the new Nike jerseys super boring.
I wish they had gone with these. I love the helmet and the rest is just so different I think it would be a nice change of pace but I would change the main color to more of a burgundy.

I agree, they each have a completely different style and are from different conferences. You can't really say one is better than the other because there is no real good way to compare them.

In the 2011 season

Luck had 3,500 passing yards for 37 Td's and 10 Int's.
150 rushing yards and 2 Td's.

RG3 had 4,300 passing yards for 37 Td's and 6 Int's.
700 rushing yards and 10 Td's

Depends all on how you look at it. I personally would want RG3 over Luck myself because he's a pretty decent passer and he has that ability to scramble and make a big play out of it.:2

I think it will be a great addition to the skins.

The thing is, that was in College. In the NFL the linebackers are faster than the QB 99.9% of the time. Plus RGIII is a pretty small dude.

My prediction : RGIII is going to get destroyed pretty quick.

Luck is going to get into an offense, maybe take a year to get used to it and dominate within the next 3 years.

If RGIII was big and buff like Cam Newton, he would be good...

Blak Smyth

I am pretty excited to see RGIII come on board and show us what he can do. Win or Fail it is exciting for us Skins fans to have a little hope. It is the right move, I believe we will never have a chance to be a serious contender if we do not have a good young franchise QB. We will have to wait and see if RGIII is that guy!

dave
04-25-2012, 12:56 PM
RG III, IMHO, has a much higher ceiling than Luck. I'd pick him first.

However......his coming to DC makes me sad for him. Won't be until his fourth season or so, once he gets out of here, that he becomes huge. Nothing about the system, OL, WR's, or running game here would make me the least bit excited, if I were him. I love the guy, but that great attitude is going to be tested, that's for certain.

I don't agree. Faster defense or not, to at least have some ability to scramble is better than none.

Since we compared RG3 to Vick earlier, lets do it again.

Michael Vick- Height: 6' Weight: 210 Lb's 40 time: 4.33
Robert Griffin- Height: 6' 2" Weight: 223 Lb's 40 time: 4.41

Like the man or hate him, Vick has done pretty damn good in the NFL. Vick has shredded many defenses with his ability to run the ball. Seems to me RG3 is bigger than Vick and he has good speed too.

Also want to throw in there that RG3 had a faster 40 time than all but one running back at the combine this year. In fact, He had the 13th best 40 time amongst all the guys at the combine this year.

I don't think his size or athletic ability (speed) are an issue.:2

Good game by RG3 yesterday, man we really can't hold a lead well though.
Defense kept them out of the end zone well the first few quarters but then started giving up a lot of yards and points towards the end.
Thankfully we had some big D plays & turnovers.
I don't think anybody expected RG3 and Morris to do this well but man we have some serious issues elswhere.

Especially since we play Baltimore next week ;)
Was a late night but it was nice to beat the Giants.
We have had their number lately though, hopefully we can keep on winning.
It is kind of scary to think about that forward fumble for a TD and the Giants missing a FG made all the difference.

Well, it was a hell of a ride. They went a lot farther than anyone thought they would a the beginning of the year. Hope RGIII get the knee taken care and comes back with thr explosive speed he had in the beginning. I look forward to next year.

Great year for the 'Skins. Was it just me or did RGIII seem kind of "chippy" during his post-game interview? Kind of out of character for the kid...but it is his first playoff loss.

What is up with that field? Worst surface I have seen since I was forced to play on sand in collage.

That field has always had drainage issues so when it rains, it turns to muck. Strange since Fed Ex field is basically the highest point in PG county.

Aweful end to a great season. This loss goes squarely on Shanny's shoulders. Not one person in that stadium belived that RGIII should have been out there that long.

Though you can't fault the coaching staff for not taking RGIII out, I really felt they needed to at halftime. Yeah hindsight is 20/20 but it was pretty clear he wasn't the RGIII we have gushed over all year. Cousins proved he can play well enough to come into a situation like that. It was just awful watching RGIII battle on one leg. Too bad the season had to end like that.

Great regular season (Other than injuries).
That game yesterday was a perfect example of bad coaching IMO.
RG3 was clearly unable to function after hurting his knee further.
RG3 isn't going to pull himself out of the game, thats the coaches descision.
I honestly believe if they put Cousins in when RG3 started limping to the line we would have been able to win that game. Very hard to watch that game.
They got away from MOrris running and had RG3 make a couple outside runs injured and he had to limp, terrible descisions.

Guys are getting hurt because of that field. Hell turf costs only about a million if you can't fix the grass they should put that in. I would be ashamed if that were my home field and the future got hurt due to it...

Funny thing is that field is pretty nice when it is in good shape. I have been down on the field, in fact I have a few blades of grass in my wallet. But when it gets wet and beaten down, man it gets ugly.

That is really strange... We get a lot of rain here in Seattle and many of our grass fiends can be kept pretty nice... Seems a lack of commitment from management to keep the field in proper shape. Drainage issues can be fixed. Seems that a lot of people are getting pretty down on it though so hopefully it will be fixed...

Amen, maybe that would help give us a home field advantage.

Not sure why every one is blaming Shanahan.
Your team got further than anyone expected, and that had a lot to do with Shanahan!
There are 2 things Skins fans need to accept
1) Kirk cousins was not going to win you a playoff game, coming off the bench, regardless of whether it was the first quarter or with 2 min left in the game.
Did he beat the Browns? Yes, but this isn't Steve Young backing up Joe Montana!
Guys are backups in this league for a reason.
2) RGIII will always be hurt, he will always have to play hurt.
The style of game that he plays, what makes him so exciting, is what is always going to lead to him being hurt.
It's the nature of the beast!
Also, he's not built like Luck or Big Ben, the hits will always take a toll on him!

In the end, I thought Seattle was the better team, even with a healthy RGIII.
Not saying the Skins couldn't have won, but I thought Seattle was better.

I think the blame comes not from the starting of the player, but keeping him so long even after seeing that he was unable to performed eleven at half speed. There was at least two points where everyone clearly saw the Guy struggeling and frankly playing shitty. He should have been pulled at half. Would have gave his team a better chance to win as well as him a better chance at a quick recovery in the off season.

Exactly my thoughts, and I wasn't bashing Shanahan in regards to the season. I was saying he made a bad call by leaving an extremely injured and unproductive RG3 in the game so long.

This is an example of Monday morning quarterback.
Shanahan was going to be criticized no matter what.
If he pulled RGIII and they lost, the criticism would be just as bad.
While RGIII was not the same player that day, his coach likely relied on him to let him know if he could play.
We don't know what those discussions entailed.
In the end, the field helped to be his demise as no one expected his foot to get stuck like that and twist that knee in that manner.
Tough call either way.
Kudos to Shanahan for what he did with that team this year.
Hopefully RGIII will be back at some point next year, or if not, the following and resume a great career.
As a Giants fan, I want him around to watch a competitive rivalry.

Monday morning QB? No. I was saying they need to pull him as the game was going on. It was absolutly clear RG3 was unable to function, Kyle dialed up a couple Qb runs and Griffin limped all the way. Did you watch the game? I find it hard to believe somebody that watched RG3 deteriorate like that would not think he should be replaced. It was painful to watch. It was blatently obvious Griffin should not have been in there, no matter who won or lost. Griffin started out the first quarter doing very well for an injured player but you saw a rapid decline in his health as the game went on. I don't know fellas, maybe we watched different games... or maybe this cold medicine is making me lose my mind.

We watched the same game.
I am just saying that we don't know what RGIII told Shanahan. May have been RGIII's decision to wish to continue to play as often happens with true stars.
Shanahan may have considered a reduced % RGIII was better than not.
Who knows?
I guess a non Redskins fan, I don't have skin (pun intended) in it and can see other views.
I personally would not get down on Shanahan's decision or lack thereof not knowing what went on the field/sideline.
Just my opinion, nothing to make you second guess your sanity as result of cold Meds.

Haha, I just feel that regardless of what RG3 told Shanahan, actions speak louder than words, and RG3s actions were screaming take me out. Griffin is always gonna tell his coach to keep him in, he is a warrior. It's Shanahan's descision and resposibility to put whoever on the field that gives the Skins the best chance of winning. I felt while watching the game that RG3 eventually had deteriorated to the point he was no longer the best man for the job. Even Griffins passes were more inaccurate than I have seen all year from him so it's not just his ability to scramble that was being affected. Either way it is over now, hopefully RG3 recovers from surgery with no issues and we can start a new season. I heard a rumor they are talking about terf options too.
I agree it is nice to have compitition in the NFC East. Skins have spent alot of recent years at rock bottom. Will be an interesting devision for the next few years.

How come nobody seems to be publicly bashing Andrews? Ever since the Ravens game, he has sounded very tentative and non-commital about Robert's knee. I hope he wasn't muzzled by Shanahan, but I think he had the power and the responsibility to shut the QB down before further injury.

Here's the latest.

Orthopedist James Andrews said Wednesday that Griffin had a direct repair of the lateral collateral ligament and a re-do of his previous ACL reconstruction.

Andrews says he expects a full recovery because of Griffin's high motivation.
