I need a really good crab cake recipe.... You would be helping me out much much more than you know. Food ntwk has quite a few, but none that are "proven" to me.

Ive used this recipe a few times- pretty good. I use panko instead of fresh breadcrumbs.

That makes fairly simple, easy and traditional crab cakes. You can spice it up however you feel like. Maybe some celery in the mix? Different spices (a little garlic or old bay seasoning comes to mind). Let me know what you end up using

It ain't a Maryland Crabcake if there isn't Old Bay in the recipe! A little worcestershire sauce is good too, that's how Grandma makes 'em here in B-more.

Well... I gotta say I like my crab cakes very simple. That being said... I have adopted Paula Dean's recipe and tweaked it a little for my tastes. Here is what I have come up with:

1 lb crab
1/2 cup Ritz crackers
3 green onions with tops chopped fine
1/4 cup mayo
1 egg
1 tsp worsty sauce
1 tsp dry mustard
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
dash of cayenne
flour for dusting
peanut oil

Combine all ingredients except for flour and oil.
Make patties
Dust with flour
Pan fry in hot peanut oil until browned
Flip and repeat

The Bomb!!

Blue Bay Fish Market down the street from us makes a premade patty ready for the pan. Better than I can do the only thing I add is a sprinkle of lime jice and serve Hot. The also ship:D

does anybody ever use real bread? Tried bread crumbs and real bread before, enjoyed the real bread ones better.

This was my first time making them but I going to try a few different ways over the next couple days.

That's how my grandmother makes 'em. I agree, definitely better than breadcrumbs.

If you use lump back fin crab meat,be gentle when mixing so as not to break up the lumps :)
