Cigar Asylum Fantasy Hockey 2025-2026

Same stakes as last year It's just 5 cigars for 7 months of fun! We're hoping to get a few more teams. Commitment is 5 Cuban OR Premium non-Cuban cigars for the season.

Minimum of 8, maximum of 16 teams, Head-to-head scoring, live draft with ability to pre-rank players if you need to auto draft.. Draft order will be random and snaking. We need an even number of teams due to the head-to-head scoring.

Payouts will be to 1st and 2nd place, and possibly the regular season winner as well if we get enough players. This is a commitment, please do not express interest if you (A) will not be interested in playing a full 7 month season and (B) will not be up for sending cigars to the winners in June of 2026.

We are looking for people who have been at Cigar Asylum for 6 months or more, only so we know the players are in for the long haul. Sorry to anyone with less time here. Priority to last season's players, but plenty of room for new teams.

I did a mock auto draft and let Yahoo pick for me. Only potential issue for me was all forwards the first "too many" rounds so my goaltending and D could have been better.

I hope it worked out with auto-draft. Happened to me last year and nothing I did got me out the gutter...last place all year. I checked to see how well the system thinks my draft ranked and yep still not winning middle of pack if lucky. Picking Fantasy Hockey teams is just not my thing I guess.

Definitely want to start all the players you can, Dave, exceptions are rare.

And the exceptions are almost always goalies, and on Sunday night, like I did with Vejmelka on Sunday.

Of the 9 stats that count for skaters, the only one that can go down is the +/- rating. So its best to start everyone you can. The "start active players " button is a great way to do that. Though, double check afterwards, as sometimes you can move things around and squeeze an extra playing skater or 2 into your active lineup for the day.

That IR can be frustrating. I've swallowed a lot of games trying to hang onto solid players that are out for weeks without making the IR. :hn

It really is. But close only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades, and hydrogen bombs. And it's in your favor. That shutout of yours is going to make things tough for me on the goaltending side. Brother, I've been up 9-2 going into the weekend and lost 2-9. More than once. I don't sweat things until Saturday, and by then you can be so far up or so far down in certain categories that it doesn't even matter.

I try to remember it's for fun, and that it's 5 cigars for 6 months of fun. But sometimes I get obsessed too. ;) :lr

And can't sweat one week, no matter how much it's nice to win. It's a marathon. :2
