View Full Version : Cigar ashtray with lid?

Hey guys,
I figured I would put it out there. Does anyone know of a good cigar ashtray with a lid something for 1-2 cigars?

I made my own like 3months ago when I started Resin 3d printing. Before that, I was using a small wide lid mason jar and capping when done. The Key was to bottle up the smell as soon as I was done. This is intended for the inside. (Lets not wounder into the realm of filters etc. in this topic) Heat is coming...

I figured why not just print an ashtray around the mason jaw with four different size spots to lay cigars. It works pretty well, but it's bigger than I would like in my office. And in hindsight, removing the Mason jar to put the lid on is another step I would rather not do.

I still may decide to make a better version, but I figured I would push this out and see if anyone has seen something that may work before rebuilding the wheel again.

Stinky makes a version with a lid.

There's also the Cigar Bobken

Google brought up numerous choices as well, some better than others.

Thanks, @icehog3

Those were all cup holder ashtrays.
And those that were not cup holders seem to be for normal cigarettes

I saw some that have fans and stuff built in to suck up the smoke but nothing simple.

yeah, I did a quick look and found that most ashtrays that include cigar in the description have a limitation that makes them unsuitable for cigars. There was one that was close, but the rotating lid had a cigarette holder that could not accommodate a cigar.

Thanks for the searches guys..

Yhea even the holts is a cupholder one which is why they are all tall.

I may end up going back to the drawing board and print a new one.
Figured I would check.

One thing I learned from 3d printing is it's a rabbit hole.
Whenever it's done you will find more ways to improve next thing you know you have 30 prints laying around of the same thing..

I like this one if the clip could be widened to hold a cigar comfortably. Might be a good place to start.

It's not the ash that smells its the cigar butts, I used to have my in home cigar lounge down stairs. I could just step out the front door when I was done and toss the ashes and butts into the plants. I then had to move my lounge upstairs and inclose the loft. And I did not want to walk down stairs to just dump the ashtray. So at the end of the night I dump it into the toilet and flush, problem solved :banger

Was trying not to get into the whole smell, filter what your doing etc..

Since we gone there.
I have an home office where I smoke need that AC out here.
My office door leads to the house I have weather stripping around it.
Once I start smoking I don't open that door.
I then throw a magnetic cover over the AC vent.
This is so it all don't leak to the house.

I also have a rabbit air filter people say it works and I will argue with them it works to get the smoke out of the room but not the ash smell it lingers

I also have a small 4" fan in a wall that mostly to push air out from my 3d prints but I will throw that on.

I do crack the window as well.
Then when I'm done with a cigar I toss it in the mason jar and close the lid to contain everything as I don't want to walk it through the house.

I also tried the actual Lampe candles which doesn't really help much.
I do have some oZone device coming Thursday that I'm going to try. You can't buy them here in LA Cali banned them but got it on eBay worth a try.

With all this said I still find that the ash smell lingers for a day or two.

Realy way would be Fan's pushing and out of the room but my house is a two-story and easy way of doing it. My office is also from of house facing to put more wholes in the wall wouldn't look nice from the street.

Only a thing past year with the whole covid and working from home lol.
Cigar smoker for over 20 years ;)

Yup I said I didn't want to dive in this direction because always a lot to say and derails the true direction :P

Ok so thinking this direction now something smaller one cigar
Keeping it to a cohiba ashtray kinda design with maybe a push-in or drop-in lid for the area. Maybe put some kind of handle or something.

Still spitballing

I do have a Csonka (ozone) and it will clear the smell out overnight.

Yhea I've heard that it's banned in CA no one is allowed to sell them out here.
So I've never tried but I ordered a "IVETTO Ionizer Ozone Generator O3" off ebay. The office is only like 10x11' I'm hoping this will be the answer to the problem

But you can't run it while you're in the room etc..

How does your room smell the next morning do you have to air it out and for how long?

Wondering if I leave my 4" fan going overnight as well let that run for 30-45 min and maybe the fan will clear things out by the morning..

Not sure but it's my hope.

I've heard things from so many people on so many things I've tried and I wonder if ppl just don't smell the ash anymore lol.. I don't smell it unless I leave the room and come back in ..

In my downstairs lounge I used a "Living Air classic" EcoQuest https://ecoquestpurifiers.com/info/technology/
Purifier Ozone Ionizer Lots on ebay and some dif models also. (make sure it comes with the plates) I had it in the room and ran it 24/7 Smells like it does just after a thunder rain storm.
You could also go with Ozone Generator Air Purifier
Let it run per instructions with the room sealed and then air out the room. Most run 60 min on auto then shut off and after 30 min to hour it is safe to re-enter.

Thanks for chiming in and the tip. The unit I got is smaller hangs on the wall also has a motion sensor to know if people are in the room.

But then I'm just wondering if it will be a thing in the morning.
Say my kids get up before me and open the office door or go in there before I get to air it out. Again I think I'll leave that small fan on not sure how much it will do, but it may help.

I like the design. I'd use a rubber band to hold the lid on when transporting. Plus it will be easy to clean.

Wonder what the cost to print would be and how hard it would be to add a custom design to the top.

Markem,
Well, I made the design quickly. With that said, a rubber band is a fix but not sure yet. Could maybe have it slide or snap in place, or maybe one of those drop-in and push a little thing. I'm not a pro in the CAD area; I just make parts I need.

With that said, print is just the cost of resin and time, really. Resing prob < $5 bucks if I keep cost down and make it hollow, but maybe you want some weight to it and print it solid. You can also send off the file to and have CNC'd in metal or something.

Any how works been crazy this week. I take it when I can.
I haven't looked at this since.

Hey buddy,
So I received my Ozone unit yesterday had a cigar and tried it.
I will add the box and all the material is all in Chinese and honestly don't even see the manufacture's name on the unit but looks like the picture lol.

With that said I put it in the manual, It didn't seem to clean things up still noticed the ash in the morning.

With that said I looked at the instructions again in Chinese and could see there are 3 levels to the manual I guess I was one. Going to set it to high-level 3 tonight and see how it goes. I think it does 30min then rest for 10 for 3 cycles.

This was cheap like $50 bucks on ebay, My thinking was to try it then and if it works halfway decent spend some money and get something better. However, I'm resorted to ebay because of Califonia's restrictions to sell them here. Can't even buy from amazon lol..

@jledou
I know you said you have a Csonka and it works well for you can you tell me a little bit more about it. I looked it up it's nice and compact but it's like $300 bucks.

Ok I ran the Ozone for 2hrs and nothing still smells ash. being it was bought on eBay I'm skeptical if it even works. I should smell something in the air when it's running and even opening the door after the 110min 3 cycles before opening windows I don't smell anything in the air in the way of ozone as others have said.

Returning to seller on ebay. (Another one bits the dust)

I can tell you that I used the Alpine Living Air Classic Air Purifier XL-15C for over 10 years and it worked great for removing any smells! Lots on ebay some just for parts look carefully. Like I said before leave it on for an hour or like I did over night. I would just come in in the morning and switch the vent for a few mins. You can also buy replacement ozone plates for it. I stopped using mine as my kids are older now, one has moved out and the other is 17 teen. So I don't worry about any smell in the house. With the venting system I have now it completely changes all the air in the room every min. I also have a air purifier and I burn a candle.

Ebay unit dropped off at post office.

I talked to the owner of bioBlaster an ozonegenerator site.
Spent like 20min on the phone with him very nice explaining the technical aspects of it.

With that said I went in and just ordered one of his "Home Pro" https://www.ozonegenerator20000.com/residential-machines-for-sale.php
It was $393 shipping included.

I'll keep you guys posted on how it is.

Also, interesting fact I just learned from this fact.

Is, you should not use a filter with carbon in it while running the ozone generator.
The carbon will catch the ozone.
Also, you can recharge your carbon filter by leaving them both on for a while and not have to replace your carbon filter as much

I hope this one works out for you! It looks like it should if you are looking for something to run after you are done smoking and want to kill the smell. It seemed to loud to have running all the time but it looks like it is not made to do that. The Alpine Living Air Classic Air Purifier XL-15C style is made to be ran all the time 24/7 while you in the room ( I used to cut mine off when I was in the room with the door closed) And just flip the switch when I left the room. It was down stairs and would run 24/7 throughout the house, killed the cigar smell and any cooking orders also. When it was running it sounded like a small leak in a tire (al low shhhhhhh)

I was under the assumption that with ozone generators you are not supposed to be in the room while it’s on.

This is the one I have

https://www.amazon.com/Csonka-AirCare-Purifier-Smoker-Cloaker/dp/B0001I0786

I did not pay $300 for it, more like $75 several years ago. I works on concentration so it cycles on and off but leaving it on overnight does well. I don't use it often but during a cold spell in the winter and hanging out in the garage it does well to clear out the smell. For $300 I probably wouldn't go after it but if I found it for less it does well.
