Luther quotes

As most of you know, I am a Lutheran pastor. Martin Luther never wanted a church called by his name, he simply wanted to reform what he saw as problems in the church of His day. He wrote many wonderful things, but I thought a few quotes might fit well here.

Whoever drinks beer, he is quick to sleep; whoever sleeps long, does not sin; whoever does not sin, enters Heaven! Thus, let us drink beer!

but then he also said...

Beer is made by men, wine by God.

It is better to think of church in the ale-house than to think of the ale-house in church.

Sorry for the interruption, was just reading some Luther for another project and these struck me as fitting. Now you know why I am a Lutheran. :D

Have you seen the scene (sorry, it just came out that way) in Prince of Thieves where the friar is talking to them about grain? I am sure that I am not 100% correct in the quote, but it is fairly close.
There are a couple guys sitting near Friar Tuck and as he lifts and handful of grain, letting dribble from his hand, he says..."This is grain, which any fool can eat, but for which the Lord had a more divine means of consumption. Let us give praise to our Maker and Glory to His bounty by learning about the art of brewing Beer."

Or something like that. This is proof to me that the Friar was a Lutheran. :D
