I would like to go but now living in NC, I think it may be a hike for a one day event unless I can get a group to go. I may not even bother because my Birthday is later in the month and I was hoping to take a long weekend trip to Miami with the wife this year. I think I may enjoy that more than Cigarfest but being I have never been to either who can tell?

The group I went with last year might make a run for it again.

Called my son this morning and offered to take him as a birthday gift.

I was figuring about $100 a piece. For those who have been there, what does the price of admission get you? I saw food and drink on their website, is that included? if not is it like going to a football or basketball game and a drink and hot dog cost you $25 :(?

And what is the cigar Nut package, sounds like me :r

Thanks,
Chas

The price of the ticket gets you in, all your cigars, samplings of beers and spirits and the pig roast. The only thing you had to pay for bottles of beers (and if you bought more cigars). Last year, the Cigar Nut package got you into the brunch which started at 10:00 and got you into Cigar Fest @ 12:00 (general tickets got you in @ 3:00).

I'm gonna check this out although it's a stretch. Last time I was in the Poconos though was in the '80's visiting the grandparents and I'm due for a visit! Thanks for all the info fellas!

I went in 06 and 07, and had a great time. Last year, they raised the price and did away with some of the events, like the organized golf tourney and the after party (in 07 CAO sponsored a Cinco de Mayhem party which was pretty cool), so we stayed away. Don't know what's going to happen this year.

The one and only time I have been to the Poconos, I blew up a hotel toilet with a bottle rocket.

But on topic...I might tell my dad about this and see how he feels. I wish the website had some better info, have you ever seen such a useless promo site? Can anyone tell me what I can expect? Is it basically a meet & greet with the cigar guys?

Andy, The event tickets sell out so fast, They don't need to Promote the event anymore. I've been the last 2 yrs and it's well worth the trip.

As you enter you receive a small humidor filled with cigars and your duffel bag. You also receive a ticket and a coupon for each cigar manufacturer. You give the vendor their ticket and you receive a cigar(s). I believe there were 34 last year. There are samples of spirits and microbrews as well as a pig roast. There are lots of cigar celebrities there: Rocky Patel, Pepin Garcia, Nick Perdomo and many others. A lot of vendors offer great Cigar Fest deals on samplers and boxes. They also sell chances all day for some very nice prizes. Lots of cookouts outside (I hope it is warmer this year) and just a chance to many great BOTLs and SOTLs from all over the country.

Also, in the days before Cigar Fest, CI has special events at their two stores. Don Pepin Garcia was rolling cigars at the CI Super Store last year. Perdomo and La Aurora also had Pre Cigar Fest events last year.

Good point on the tickets. I think it's about a 5 or 6 hour trip from my house so it's not out of the question for me to attend...Just wish I knew more about some actual events. The ticket seems really reasonably priced.

You can book a room at the resort. They have special rates for those who attend C-fest. If I remember correctly the lodge has rooms for under $100 a night.

Six of us are going this year. Already have rooms reserved. This will be the 4th year for me. Always have a good time.

We are going up Thursday to check in at the resort. We will be going to any events at CI and also heading over to Famous which is a ten minutes away from the CI Superstore.

Looks like $170/night and up, but I think you get a discount code when you register for Cigar Fest. You can book online for the resort here (https://reservations.synxis.com/XBE/rez.aspx?Hotel=12734&Chain=6044).

They've increased the amount of Tickets to 2500 which is up 500 from the last 2 yrs and a 1000 more than the fest in 06. That place was already overcrowded and they want to stuff another 500 in there?

I'd cancel those rooms unless money is no object. They usually have a special discount code for Cigarfest attendee's but don't give it out until the Tickets go on sale.

You can still get the Cigar Nut tickets via their auction. There are 750 of those (out of 2500). That seems like a high percentage. Some bids are already @ $200.00 and the auction doesn't close until February 16th. These tickets were $150.00 last year. I wonder if that was their plan all along.

I'll be there. I snagged a couple VIH for my Brother in law and I. A buddy of mine that was going ended up with Some General admission Tix. The VIH were sold out in less than 30 min but I heard there were only 500 of em available.

I don't blame em for auctioning the Cigar nut tix. Lots of scalpers out there that resell for triple on Ebay etc.

I really thought they would last a day or two. I want to take the son for his birthday, and just wish I would have logged on when I woke up and saved the money if I do end up with a pair at what I bid :hn

1 week into the bidding 1 week to go.

Still on the list, over 100 people from the bottom and 1 price increase left in the bid.
Bidding appears to have slowed the last few days so hopefully I get them.

If I do then I get the joy of trying to be one of the luck SOBS that gets a frigging room,

I went last year and I had a great time. For the value of the ticket I got breakfast and lunch plus some great conversations with some interesting people. But I dont know that I would go again. I mean I mostly smoke CCs, but even last year when I smoked NCs most of the give aways were simply things I personally had no interest in. In fact the only one I can remember really wanting was the 5 Vegas Miami. Also the environment wasn't really conducive to smoking, too many people too little air circulation. I think I'd much prefer to do something local with 5-6 peeps and concertrate on cigars I know I want.
