I know it's a little far out but i'll be doing Boston, Maine, and Canada in late July early August. Planning to start the trip in Boston on Friday the 24th or 31st of July and spend about 3 days there maybe 4. I have to go to some place called Bar Harbor in Maine (wife said so). We'll definitely take the ferry to Yarmouth, Canada for a day or overnight trip.

As far as Boston goes i've been before but would be more interested in meeting some Massholes, it's the one condition i've been "allowed" to put on the trip. As far as Maine goes any suggestions would be welcomed. As for Yarmouth I haven't been able to locate authorized Habanos shops, any help from botl's north of the border would be greatly appreciated. Not that i've thought about strapping cc's to my wife and kids like sticks of tnt.

Thanks for any help you can give.
-Richard

well we can certainly help you out! I'm going out on a limb to recommend Churcill's Lounge in Boston so your missus can shop at Quincy Marketplace/Faneuil Hall while have a nice herf across the street! Sound like a plan?

Depending on you exact dates there are usually some pretty good free outdoor concerts that time of year.

looking for any recommendations on places to stay while in Boston. looks like it will be that 3-4 week of June. Hotel prices in Boston are insane, $240 for an embassy suites! i've checked all the major sites, any ideas would be appreciated. only requirement is that it be somewhat kid friendly meaning clean.

Boston is very expensive Rich...there should be cities just outside of Boston that might be cheaper...keep in mind that Boston is very small so getting around is easy...

I've seen decent prices in Newton, Cambridge, Somerville, Medford, South Boston, and "Back Bay area". Should I stay away from any of these? I was trying not to rent a car until we leave Boston for Maine.

All are good places and prices. Boston and Cambridge should be all you need especially if your time is at a premium.

The Sheraton Tara in Newton Corner is my suggestion to those travelling to Boston with a car. Right on the Mass Pike, and bus goes right down town from there too. Easy to find and several places to eat in walking distance.

Alright got some more solid info on the trip. Monday June 29th to Thursday July 2nd in Boston at the Radisson Boston Common. Bar Harbor July 2nd to the Sunday July 5th. Returning to Boston by noon on Sunday July 5th back to the Radisson Boston Common. Leaving Boston Tuesday July 7th.

Would that Sunday work for a smoke for anybody? I know it's a busy weekend for everybody, wife keeps looking for the best deals and changes the days on me. If any of those days work or don't work i may use my veto power and change them for better ones.

We'll definitely take the ferry to Yarmouth, Canada for a day or overnight trip.

Too bad you're not coming all the way to Newfoundland. You'd need more than a night though.

In any case, have a great trip. It sounds like fun.:tu

I wanna see the whales, too. :)
Tell the little lady there's a 2 hour Blue Whale thing on the National Geographic channel. It just started Sunday night, it's a brand new show.
It's a little drawn out, but it's really cool. I bet she'll love it. :tu

allow at least half a day... maybe more... lots to see/do. if they still have it, be sure to check out the "surplus" store where you can buy all sorts of little doodads - i think mostly parts/raw materiel that are usually used to make other things.
