Has anyone ever had a opus that was plugged or burned uneven? I personally was just curious...

Never plugged but eneven burns do happen . Biggest let down of a cigar I ever had was an Opus X "A" , wouldn't stay lit and burned really uneven . I'll never pony up for another one , the "A" that is .

I have smoked many an Opus-X, of all sizes. I have never had a plugged Opus-x, however, I have had a few, where the draw was a little tight, but very manageable. As far as burn issues, I have had more than a few, over the years, but nothing real crazy!

Nope, some were tighter than others but all burned just fine :tu

I've probably smoked 10 or so all the different sizes and none of them had draw problems and half of them were probably a little "too loose".

I've smoked a handful, maybe 10 or so. Draw was always spot on. Never had a problem staying lit. I'd say 2/10 had uneven burns. One was fresh, and while that isn't an excuse for an uneven burn, it couldn't have helped. The other was smoked on the golf course and the wind may have been a factor.

I find them to be impeccably constructed like everything fuente. That being said, I don't find the quality control on the Opus to exceed their other lines. Really, it's too bad that the opus doesn't excel on quality control, but I guess when the strong point of your regular lines is quality, it's hard to top that.

I have smoked at least 30 Opus Cigars,,,every single one of them had no draw problems and they burned really well,,,,some better than others but overall I never experienced a cigar that had better taste, burn or draw. Is it any wonder why they are so popular?

I've probably only smoked 6 or so, but no burn issues and definitely not plugged.

I've had one with a "tight" draw, but no problem smoking it (not plugged, just a bit tight). I've also had a few with burn issues. I've smoked at least 70 Opus... so, a few problems ain't bad. I love everything Fuente!!

I've smoke many Opppies and most all burn just fine. The condition you and others experience can either be from over humidification or simply a counterfeit Opus X.

Or the fact it is a handmade product so there are bound to be bad ones here and there. :ss

I've never encountered an Opus that was plugged or had an uneven burn. The Fuentes I've smoked have always had a razor sharp burn. Their rollers do a great job. :tu

Never had a burn or draw issue with one. My issue has been that the last few I have smoked over the last couple years have been lame.

Best construction is Padron--Never had an Opus plug issue but did have some burn problems

gotta agree with most--never a plug issue, but burn problems from time to time

I doubt you will ever run accross a pluged Opus, since the filler is rolled in to skinny straws. Then the straws are bunched and wrapperd with binder then wrapper. I know this because I watched them being rolled in the Opus X rolling room in the DR.
Most people who have a burn issue are storing them above 60 - 63 RH. The Opus aging room is kept at 60 RH at the Fuente factory.

Hope this helps.

:tpd:

Like I said earlier in this thread, I have smoked many an Opus, since their intro to the public back in 1996, at least a couple of hundred and probably more. I'll say again, never had one that was plugged, a few tight draws - yes, and burn issues - yes, on more than a few! Like the man says above, the older they are the better they smoke and most burn issues simply go away!

Good to know this about my favorite cigar,,will keep this in the front of my brain instead of the back where most of my $hit is stored.:ss

I do not recall an plugged or uneven burned Opus X. Very good smokes when you can afford them. :(

Funny so many people speak so well of them. In the 30 or so I've smoked and experimented with storing, I've yet to smoke one that didn't have some sort of plug or burn issue.

Luckily, I'm not a picky smoker per se, so I correct or use a draw tool as necessary. :)

That's some bad luck.

Really, it must be, because I can't see anyone else having that kind of bad luck. I've tried storing them at different humidity levels over time and everything, but nothing seemed to work.

I will grant you, all but maybe 3 of those Opus were less than two years old, and the couple that were older burned considerably differently (plugs rather than runs) so I could have just gotten a handful of bad ones from that year.

Obviously, a bad batch..I have smoked many and many Opus X's, too include the ones in the Toast Across America. Never had a bad burn or bad taste. Dont give up on them just yet!
