We brought Benny home on January 1st. He's a Bernese Mountain dog. He weighs about 17 lbs, and is about as clumsy as can be. You can see my other buddy, Bling, who I think realizes that Benny is going to be a BIG dog.

Congratulations on the handsome addition to your family. He will get big but the more crucial problem is that they are like border collies, they are smarter than humans.

Wow!!!
And to think I complain about picking up poop for a 55 lb Pit, a 15 lb Yorkie and a 6 lb Maltese.
My three barely add up to half of that weight.
You should pick up some flags and claim the poop mountains as your own, sort of like the lunar landing or Mt. Everest.:r:r:r
Good luck with that handsome pup. Looks like he will be lots of fun.

This guy was pretty expensive, at least the most money I've ever paid for a dog. His father was the 4th place ranked Bernese in the country last year. In the end though, none of that matters.
I had a Chocolate lab who was an amazing dog. He was a genius and if Benny turns out anything like him, I'll be happy. They are great dogs too.

Beautiful dog. Thanks for sharing the pics. do the two dogs get along ok or do you have to ease them into living together? Enjoy.
Benny, the new one, is very confident and dominant. The little one has always loved dogs, and wants to play with Benny, but Benny is still in his puppy biting stage. Once he nips, Bling, the little one, a fight ensues. For now Bling can hold his own, but that may not be the case in a week. For now, the best thing we can do is let Bling defend himself and scold Benny for biting.
We had our first trip to the vet today, and she pretty much reiterated that we need to let Bling defend himself while he can.
We're expecting around 130LBS.
That's 124 lbs. bigger than my dog.:r

Here's an update. He's putting on the LBS. He's still giving Bling a hard time, but now Bling isn't afraid to give it back to him. And they are starting to play as opposed to fight. He's also got all of the basic tricks down. Sit, lie down, roll over, shake hands. The funny thing is that when it's trick time, Bling sits right next to him and does the tricks before Benny can figure out what he's supposed to do.
