I am looking to replace an Aeron (Herman Miller) size large office chair with something new. The Aeron has served me well for like 15 year, but I want to try something new. I sit a lot for work, so don't mind spending a little on a new chair.

My budget is under 3K; what do you think the best office chairs are currently? I am so out of the loop on this type of thing. I didn't see anything that I thought was "better" than the Aeron on Herman Miller's site and there are bunch of other manufacturers. Once I narrow it down to a few that I like the looks of, I'll go visit a showroom to actually sit in one.

Any suggestions on new office chair?

I don't know about "best" and I do believe it is a relative term, but I've been happy with the higher end Steelcase chairs.

Do you have a specific model in mind? I don't think "best" is that relative when it comes to office chairs... How many office chairs are there above $1500? 30? More than 30?

This one looks interesting. Have you sat in it? I guess is moves while sitting in it to keep the spine moving...

I have not tried that one, Moses. IIRC mine is the older version of the "Leap"

I'm happy with it. It took a little getting used to at first, having a chair that felt like it was flexing.

There are many manufacturers who are happy to charge $$$s for a relatively cheap and crappy chair. I've done well with high end chairs from Relax The Back. I currently have one from the Signature Series, but it is 20 years old so maybe they have updated their inventory a bit.

I agree with Adam in that what you may determine the best really is the best for you. Others may choose differently.

The Aeron has served me well and I bet I can get $300 for it on CL. I'd like to get something else of similar quality. The Steel Case ones look cool so far. Need to find a showroom near me to see in person.
