WOW WHAT THE **** ....

We're told after Petty got to the hospital he had no brain activity and a decision was made to pull life support.

Tom Petty was rushed to the hospital Sunday night after he was found unconscious, not breathing and in full cardiac arrest ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

EMTs rushed to his Malibu home and were able to get a pulse. He was rushed to the UCLA Santa Monica Hospital and our sources say he was put on life support.
Petty's condition is unknown but was critical from the moment he was found.
Petty, who became famous with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in 1978 with "Breakdown," is 66.

We've been in touch with numerous people from Petty's camp and they are clearly upset but not talking.

I'm gutted.

I'm glad I took the girlfriend to see him play a couple of weeks ago. I've seen him dozens of times, but she had never been.

Terrible loss.

I’m stunned!

He put one of the best concerts I have ever been to. His music touched me.

May You Rest In Peace, Tom!

One of the great artists and joining so many other greats that have passed. I love his music and his voice which was gritty and Tom.

Reports now say he's clinging to life. The report of his passing was released in error.

But my understanding is he has no brain function, so this is near the end.

Orbison, Harrison, Petty. The Wilburys can jam tonight.

News outlets like CBS would rather be first, accuracy doesn't count.

I was thinking the same thing.

Lefty, Nelson, and Charlie T., together again.
