I've had a photobucket account for years....been very slow and "buggy" recently...Rumor that they may now charge to use photos to post on forums

https://www.ghacks.net/2017/06/30/photobucket-now-charges-399-for-third-party-hosted-images/

What do y'all use to "host and post" your pics?

It's gotten worse every month, there are so many ads per page that it's basically unusable and they rely on flash which is even better than worse and charge you for ad free, 6 popup and slide out ads per page (yes 6) at random times renders their product useless unless you pay and I refuse, their coders are clueless as well ... some of the slide out ads actually push the page content area 50% to the right so them are shifting divs instead of appearing over them but now I'm just venting. I've been using imgur for hosting randomly images lately until I find something better. There is always google or iCloud.

I will follow the leader. Using Photobucket but just for cigar forum posting here so little use. Since I use Photobucket so little and on iPhone only, same one ad and other then occasion Photobucket down times, not bad.

If a worthy successor is appointed, I would switch away. If they ask to pay, I would have to see how much? I do like the convenience of Photobucket but there is a limit to what I would be willing to pay.

I thought Amazon had something similar to photobucket (which is also pissing me off).

Thanks moose...yes, I have Amazon prime with unlimited storage, gogle picc , apple, etc....my problem is with posting pics here or on other forums...can't figure it out which is why photobucket was convenient, til it started to suck!

I too am looking for an alternative to Photobucket. I'll monitor this thread closely for updates.

Also, has anyone tried to batch export their photos out of Photobucket? Success/Failure stories?

Thanks

That's not very comforting. LOL

Does it only let you DL 1 album at a time?

I use imgur now. Very simple to use and you can get links to different sizes of the same picture. Just make sure you upload it unpublished.

Photobucket has become basically unusable for me the last several months.

I agree with the decline of Photobucket. However, if photos are moved off of there, links posted here will no longer work.

I may just stop using Photobucket and pick an alternative going forward.

Imageshack when using mobile. Flickr for main and non mobile cause their app and website suck on mobile.

Imgur is my preference. Yes there is a big social networking aspect, but if all you're looking to do is host a photo, it's dead nuts simple.

Just a test. Taking my new Imgur account out for a test drive.

I just replied to Photobucket's email and ended It politely.

"Hahahahhhaha, it's non-commercial activity and just for personal use. No EBay, Amazon etc for selling. Just personal use for sharing cigars I've smoked with friends.

So NO. I'm not upgrading to your $399 a year plan and **** YOU!!!!

Sincerely,

Dave"

We will see if they actually read email.

Just don't use it for any picture you want to retain ownership of. Post image is exceedingly vague on ownership of content once uploaded.
