They've come a long way with special effects since the original, might be fun at the matinee price.

Yes we've come a long way from "You'll believe a man can fly" in Chris Reeves Superman. What's interesting is now you have JJ Abrams saying he wasn't to reverse that and the new Star Wars is going to rely more on huge sets, props, sound stages and as little CGI as possible.

BTW I am not a fan of 3D movies, specially action movies, everything looks like a colorful blur when there is a lot of action, this movie might not be terrible in 3D.

OK, so who'd be up for a third Odyssey flick, based on Clarke's novel 2061? Reportedly Tom Hanks wanted to make it once, but it never got into orbit, much less as far as Europa.

Thomas, I would TOTALLY take you to Paul Blart 2, even if you want to hold hands and cop a feel. It's been a hella long time since I got a movie theatre jerk, and I figure you're 100% all day long. :tu

One of my local comic shop guys and I were talking the other week about a crossover between Star Trek and Green Lantern coming this July, and thought a Star Trek/Fantastic Four flick would be cool. Can you imagine Galactus and the Silver Surfer matching up against The Q?

I saw the trailer during The Avengers. So there is twist this time but still while it all looked great I can't get excited for this. So no...maybe on Netflix.

So to finally answer Josh's question . . . everyone, seemingly. It looks to be having an opening weekend approaching $200 million domestically. There's every reason to expect it to hit a cool billion worldwide before the month is done.

I enjoyed the Jurassic Park movies, but 1/2 a billion in the first weekend?
I sure didn't like them that good. Good enough to watch it on DVD if I remember.

I went and saw this yesterday on an IMAX 3D. It is good enough to stand on it's own IMHO. The cg dino's look pretty cool. I enjoyed it. It's a nice movie to turn off your brain for a couple of hours and have a good time. The 3D and IMAX do the movie justice. Surround sound has come a long way as well. Audio was great.
