HICKORY, N.C., April 6, 2015—James Best, the actor best known for his portrayal of bumbling yet endearing Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane on TV’s “The Dukes of Hazzard,” died at 9:28 p.m. ET Monday after a brief illness and complications of pneumonia. He was 88.

I remember him at Burt Reynolds' sidekick in "Hooper". R.I.P., Mr. Best.

On the plus side, he got to hang with Catherine Bach, so there's that. On the other, he wound up in Hickory, which is not a particularly interesting place. Trust me, I know.

All I remember is him always saying something about being in pursuit of them Duke boys and their "piece of **** orange car". :r Rest In Peace, Mr. Best.
