Hellos fellos, feel a little odd about popping in with my hand out after a spell away, but here I am, hear me out and respond lunatic gorilla fashion if you are inclined to do so.
I have a friend currently in the hospital getting PTSD treatment. He served in Iraq and Afghanistan, served quite honorably in truth and understatement. His story of service is not mine to tell but he has my utmost respect and admiration and I *can* say there's not a man among us that wouldn't feel the same if they knew his story. War is hell and he's seen a lot of it.
Anyhoo, he has taken up a couple of things into his therapy regimen, a musical instrument and proper cigars (as opposed to his flavored Swishers).
He asked me if I could give him my band collection so he can upholster his instrument's hard case in cigar bands. Well of course pal, if I had a band collection.
So anyone with sacks of these collected that has been wondering why they are saving them... at least 2 people on earth would be very grateful if you could share them.
Thanks brothers
Pm me an address please :tu

Please PM me, also.
I usually keep all of mine (and others') for an artist friend,
and I have been known to beg for bands in the Asylum, as well.
However, this is a good reason to help out another, and as luck
would have it, I have an almost full envelope saved up.

Got the final package today (http://disk919.com/bb2/gar/scott.jpg), everyone in the thread with Scott bringing up the rear. Scott you totally went a bit overboard dude, I have the feeling you'd offer your decoupage skills without much coaxing :D
I'm sure my buddy will be moved by you boys' thoughtfulness. You're doing God's work.
I actually quit smoking everything a few months ago, smoked my humidors empty and decided not to buy anymore, I was spending too much and the nuance I used to get from cigars was no longer there so what the heck, quit.
Anyhow, I'll be packing a travel humidor with the smokes you boys sent and all the notes and what-nots, the bands if he wants them now, and sending them up with his wife next week. I'll try to keep this thread posted if any badass instrument cases surface :)
cheers

Thanks for lifting up your friend in his time of need, Jason. You're the one doing God's work, we're only supporting you.
Godspeed for a quick and thorough healing.

While I appreciate the thought let's not go overboard just yet? There's been more than enough kindness and extras shared already. The travel humidor (ammo-canidor) I'm giving him is full, probably enough bands to upholster an instrument case, and more than enough thoughtful words and asides to fill anyone's heart at least twice.
Thanks guys

No progress to report fellas, one step forward two back is the vibe so far. I've got myself into a bit of an awkward spot here. I passed on his request here in the most positive anticipation, visions of sugarplums were dancing in my head. Visions of me posting photos of banded instrument cases and youtube videos of our new Gaelic-folk-rock collaborations. Things just are not working out this way. So far.
Your prayers are very much appreciated and I wanted to thank you all again for the kind gifts, and most of all, the kind notes.
