601 La Bomba Nuclear - picked up a 5er of these in robusto and they blew my mind, brimming with flavor! Just wish they sold them by the 50s instead of box's of 10s. :)

Great choice!! Those are definitely among my favorite by AJF. If you like that cigar and havent had an AJF Punch Diablo before, I'd recommend that one to check out. I think they are both similar in taste, particularly by exhibiting that sharp buttery note that seems to be in a lot of AJs' stuff. :dr

How do you like Tabernacle? I do enjoy them myself.

I first saw the band (it is truly a classic) and heard some good reviews. So, I swapped AdamJoshua for some shaving stuff to get a few. They were excellent!

So, I looked around for them. They are more expensive that I can truly afford, so I picked up a 5er when I found the lanceros on special.

It will probably be a while before I get anymore, as I only purchase cigars when I get disposable income (income that is not a part of the regular budget - usually honorariums for funerals, weddings, etc... none of which I seen on the horizon). As the humidor is well-stocked, the next disposable income I do get will got to projects I need to do up at the cabin, so it will be a while before I make another cigar purchase.

I have also tried the Charter Oak line (much more reasonably priced), the maduros were lackluster in my opinion, but the Connecticut were very nice. There are some other lines by the same manufacturer that I'd like to try, but again, the $$ are prohibitive at this time.

Some of my recent grabs...1st pic - finally got around to getting some of the Inferno line, they seem to have really good reviews & famous had them 50% off plus the extra 17% off coupon code I use there, I couldn't refuse. Also stocked up on another Melanio box for the gf & the Cusano CR 18s were a leap of faith...needed some new morning smokes and they have great reviews & 18 year old leaf in the blend!
2nd pic is my Criollo resupply! I love both the Camacho & HC Criollos but I'll always wonder why more companies don't have Criollo blends...I've seen Kristoff has one but I'm leery because I've heard people on here say that Kristoff is generally not the best brand...
Anyways, that's all for now but there is already more on the way! :D

Part of my most recent shipment, I was lucky and managed to snag a box of Toro Le Bijous for cheap, 601 snakebites - love those, last box I had had cracking problems on the caps, but flavorful enough to risk and nothing some finesse and a razor blade can't handle :) next a box of L'Atlier Surrogates Crystal Ballers/Toros - heard lots of good things about this brand, excited to try!
And last, possibly my current NC favorite, the 601 La Bombas, this box is corona I believe but I have an additional 4 boxes of Toros on the way...that's just how damned good those things are...speaking of which;
@ Weelok, if you see this, have you had the La Bomba before? I know you like a strong flavorful smoke and these are probably the strongest AND most flavorful stogies I've ever had! If not let me know, I'd like to send out a couple for you to test drive (no need to reciprocate!)

I like CAO cigars and this one is good as well as the new CAO Extreme. I think the only CAO cigar I don’t like is the Gold.

Oh good so you have tried one before. I'm not sure if they've gotten better recently but the last box I had was remarkable. Still though, I'll see about getting one out to you sometime this summer, I think they definitely deserve a 2nd look!

I really regret having slept on 601 initially, haven't had a bad blend from them yet, from the Snakebite to the Maduro to La Bomba. Recently ordered a 5er of the Green/Oscuro so am looking forward to seeing if it lives up to its siblings! :D

Casa Fernandez Guardian of the Farm Nightwatch Apollo - I'd preordered these back in July...maybe even June? Really glad they are finally here though, thinking they might be a good Halloween cigar this year!
I also restocked a box of San Lotano Habano Reqiuem robustos from cigarpage, also a 10er of AJF Enclave Broadleaf Toros, and!!
Finally, I grabbed a 5er of L'Atlier LAT54s, a bit pricey but I've heard really good things about those, so I'm really looking forward to trying them! (Sorry no pics of the cigarpage order)

Oh good! Thanks for confirming that, the reviews I found for the Estella were all positive, but I trust most everyone's opinion on this forum more than most cigar review websites.
I don't know what it is with Espinosa, but his blends are always right in my wheelhouse so definitely looking forward to this one! :tu

Good ROTT, Or Need Some Rest??? Just Got Mine In, Yesterday.

Sorry Greg, just saw this! I haven't gotten around to smoking any just yet, I generally like to give my cigars about a month in the humi so I'm able to get a more reliable expression of the cigar...
But I'm close now so I might be lighting one up this weekend or the following, I'll try to post a mini-review in the "what I smoked today" thread when I do!

Estella i also gave about a month before smoking but once I did, yeah buddy they were for sure ready to go. Not sure what condition yours showed up in, but even after some rest mine were a little brittle, so definitely be mindful with the cap when cutting/punching.
That said - the coronas have been smoking wonderfully (haven't tried the toro yet) but that would stand to reason as my corona box is stamped 2016! :tu

Michael, I recently got a 2 Long Live the Kings (one from markem in the Troop Auction) and really liked them both. I also had The King is Dead and liked it as well. Figured on trying their other lines as well, so I nabbed those all on Cigar Bid this week.

Isabela Christmas Sampler and 2 extra sticks tossed in for free!

Okay so this one is a bit different. I wasn't initially sure about posting in this thread because they were a Christmas gift from my mother, so I had stashed them away and forgot to post them.

I had mentioned to her in passing that a site i like that reviews cigars (Katman) had reviewed an odd brand very highly and that I was curious about them. Sure enough, she ordered me this sampler! I know Katman has been sponsored by Isabela but generally speaking, my cigar preferences seem to mirror that Katman dude quite a bit, so I felt inclined to at least check these out.

Unfortunately it appears that they sweeten their caps, but not heavily so and while the barberpole wrappers come off as kind of gimmicky, as long as they smoke well I could give 2 flying ducks what they look like. Also, I've read that the tobaccos in these cigars have been extensively aged before being shipped out.

I'm curious though, has anyone tried these before? I'm going to try to give them another month or so before I test drive one of the smaller ones.

Some nice looking cigars. I guess sweetening of the caps is an old tradition but as long as the cigars are using good tobacco that’s just an oddity for today.

I’ll be curious to see your thoughts upon smoking one.

Ahhhhahahah THAT DLR!!! How could I have not deduced it was the man, the myth & legend, Diamond Dave himself! :r
I never really followed him much outside of Van Halen hence not recognizing the cover but yeah I have to agree, that is a pretty blatant rip off!

@ Dave (not the Diamond kind) yeah I read that the sweetened cap is a sort of nod to the past. They also talk at length about trying to recreate the profiles of Cubans from the early 90s, so I'll be interested to see if that is just a lot of marketing hype or if they actually live up to it. I'll be sure to post back in the daily smoke thread once I get around to trying them out!

They are a helluva deal. Those Caldwells and Barbas too. Caldwell is some of the best stuff going right now. Seriously If you have no had any of the La Barba line get on it now while they are cheap.

OK, JRCigar had an insane sale, so I got a bunch of cigars at a ridiculous price. I love the ERdM line, especially the tissue wrapped "Robustos" in all their sizes, they have been incredible consistent in taste since I first tried them my first year of college back in 1980-81.

There were three 5-packs of the "Robusto Supremo" thrown in for free - one 5-pack for each box that I ordered. I will admit that the Nicaraguan line is a newer line that until this order, I have never tried. So... this is a new ERdM to me. I am curious to see how I enjoy it.

Clockwise from top left as follows;

- Futuro Coronas - already have the 109s and I absolutely love them, these Coronas have been a long time coming.
- CLE Corojo Robustos - I had this blend in the corona gorda format and they were incredible...unfortunately, due to the 69% boveda that came with this cab, there is some definite mold on the wrappers of some of the cigars...spotty and very light, but it's definitely there, hoping I can just wipe it off and go about my business.
- 601 Steel Coronas - has a 5er of these in Toros, bold & peppery but with a lot of unique and interesting flavors underneath all of that pepper. God bless Eric Espinosa.
- Espinosa Hush Money Toros - okay this is a fun one, never had these before but as I love almost all Espinosa blends, I had to try. Comes in a manila envelope designed to look like...well, you know. I even received a customary paper cut when I opened the envelope, so it's definitely authentic.
- Bag of 3 different 5ers, 1 My Father The Judge Toro Finos, 1 My Father Le Bijou Belicoso & 1 Cabaiguan Coronas Extra..there are 2 of my favorite My Father blends and I read somewhere recently someone here was praising the Cabaiguans, so I decided to give them a spin. :tu

I also have had a 601 Steel but it’s more of an issue of play time last two years or so has been with Ezra Zion and CigarFed plus BLTC and Black Works. 601 blends have gone through ups and downs with me and I’m not sure I’ve ever gotten over the times they were rolled by Rocky Patel.

And the Pepin cigar, that’s why the 601 blend tanked is the move away from Pepin. Don Pepin is still a Master.

What I like about it, is that the flavors take me back to 1981 and smoking them then, they are consistent to the flavors I knew...wonderful reminiscence.

Yeah I agree some of the CLE I had was nothing particularly special, but something about their Corojo blend struck me...I think it's just that for my palate, it has a near perfect balance of corojo pepper/spice to flavor. That said, I'm always in the market for a really nice corojo blend so if anyone has any recommendations, I'm all ear....eyes.

And yeah for me ultimately the 601 Steels have been *really* affordable at cigarauctioneer (don't use cbid anymore thanks to the Ohio excise tax) but also, I assume to them not being as popular, I've been getting some slightly older stock as well (the box I just pictured is from 2016!).

About the 601s in general - I've heard how much better they were when rolled at DPG factories, almost mythical, if you will! But on the other side of the coin, I've also heard the tragic stories about the move to RP and the utter crapola that factory cranked out. However!!! With all of that in consideration, or even ignored, the truth is that today? Today I've been consistently enjoying the 601 line and to my knowledge, they are coming out of AJF's factory (San Lotano I think?) I can't say that they are as good as some of my super-premium cigars but when I want a really satisfying full bodied smoke for a fair price, 601s are always a consideration.

Actually come to think of it, sometime soon we should initiate another trade Dave. I've come across some new full bodied stuff that I definitely think you'd dig (Sinistro Last Cowboy Maduro specifically) and I could also toss in a couple of the newer 601s just to see what you think!

@ Todd Yeah I remember you mentioning in the sampler you sent about the Edem being extremely consistent! Plus, I was actually born in 1981 so if it is even *remotely* consistently awesome as I am? I suspect I'm in for a treat. :r

I think a trade is due! I would love to try out the AJF 601’s since AJF is probably my favorite overall blender at the moment although to be fair, between Casa Fernandez, AJF, Don Pepin rolled including Pete Johnson’s, Illusione, and whomever rolls all the Ezra Zion, BLTC, and Warped, so much good stuff!

Not to mention that in the last five years or so, some great Dominican cigars have been created! I must say, it’s a great time for cigars!

Still trying to figure out which I like best out of the LFD brand, never had the Murcielagos before but I love almost all of Espinosas stuff so excited about them, and same goes for the Cedrus, haven't had a Southern Draw I haven't liked and it sure this line will be no exception!

As for the boxes, there is the Protocol Probable Cause Churchill's (they look more like toro finos to me though) and Headley Grange Chamuco.
I've been wanting to check Protocol out as a brand as I know they come from Espinosas factory! The Headleys, well I've had the original Headley Grange and with 1+ years I know they are very special cigars, so I couldn't resist grabbing this full bodied edition with the intent of aging them for the longer term. :tu

I love the LFD stuff, the Ligero blends are not among my favorites, I usually avoid them as there is not much complexity to them (at least to my tastes - and I won't be smoking them, and you may love them). Love the Coronados and Air Benders though!

The firearm is new indeed!!! My new toy. I didn’t particularly want an AR 15 style rifle in California as quite frankly they mandate changes that make it a bit silly in my way of thinking such as no magazine release button although work-a-rounds exist but why? Also range shooting is limited in California so it just was not worth it as a play toy.

Now that I’m in Nevada, well, the great desert doesn’t judge me and my bullet button haha.

- Protocol Sir Robert Peel Natural & Maduro - had to battle 2 separate unfortunate souls at auction for these babies, I walked away the victor fortunately. Have heard excellent feedback about these and having already tried the Probable Cause line by Protocol and loving it, I had to try these.

Heck yeah they are! I'm pretty sure they are my favorite from CigarFed. Be sure to try the natural wrapper if you've only had the Maduro (or vice versa) as they are both awesome imo!
