Garage Sale Humidor Find

Found this at a garage sale over the weekend and was able to pick it up for $20. I looked around the webs and I think this humidor sells for about $90 from CI.

I picked up some food safe clear caulking and plan to run a bead of caulk around the glass pieces and around the hydrometer mounted in the door. I was also thinking about looking into some sort of weather stripping for the door. At the very least it will be a fun little project to see if I can get this thing to hold stable humidity.

I will fill it up soon enough so don't worry about that part :) Plenty of cigars in my cooler that will be fun to display.

I got all the edges of the glass all caulked up, along with the front mounted hygrometer, and left it to sit there with the door open for a couple days. The caulk didn't really leave an odor, but I just wanted to give it time to air out. Now I have the trays back in and am seasoning it. I'll check it this weekend and see how things are going. I tried to take a picture of the caulking, but it does not really come out in pictures. I guess that means I did a good job of applying it.

I'll post another update along with some pictures this weekend.
