A Padilla Habano with a cocktail called the Godfather: 1 1/2 shot of Scotch with a half shot of Amaretto over ice. Nice on a hot summer afternoon.
What did you pair today?

So far mountain biking, Phish, and extremely hoppy beers.
Later looking forward to a fermented and aged rolled up lump of tobacco from some island south of Miami.

Yesterday afternoon was interesting. I had a bottle of Pinet de Picpoul with lunch - a rather acidic, citrusy wine - similar to Gruner veltliner. Anyway - not much would match profiles for an afternoon cigar!. So I went for a contrast - Partagas Series D no 4. Mellow, moderate body - nut and fruit.
The wine and the cigar played "good cop - bad cop" - and it actually worked. Occasionally chefs will do this when feeling adventurous.(Doesn't always work.) It's a little like mixing warm and cool colours in a picture - can either be hideous, or make the subject pop.
The cigar tasted pretty darned good, with the wine cleansing my palate with each sip.

Yesterdays....
Organic tomato with stilton cheese, fresh organic beets with balsamic, all paired with a fine bottle of Rueda.....

This needed a topper, so in the vault I dug out a glass of SMWS 4.171 (A cask strength, single cask 21 year old Highland Park) and paired it with a Party D4. Och Aye - 'twas a walk in the heather.....

First thing, Nutcracker needs to learn how to relax and enjoy the finer things in life. Second, today's pairing. The Jim Beam black has pleasant slight sweetness.

Today's pairing the CAO Brazilia and a cocktail of my creation...I think. A little disappointed in the hard draw, not typical of this usually fine stick.

Tonight's a little better than last night.
Perdomo Champagne Sun Grown and an Alaskan Pumpkin Porter. Not a bad combo so far, but I just started 'em.

Padron 3000 Maduro and Russell's Reserve 10-year Old Bourbon. The sweetness of the bourbon really complemented the sweetness of the cigar and vice versa; I thought one or the other might get overpowered but that was not the case.

James, I'm going to have to sample that pairing some time, sounds delish!
This morning a CAO Brazilia and sweet coffee, a damn fine cigar akin to good espresso.

Does smoking and yardwork count as a pairing? I had a cheap Tesa Picadura King I won last November while I bagged leaves. It made a pretty good yard 'gar.

That's for sure. I sat on the porch and just enjoyed the sunshine today.
You ever get the shop going up there in Enid? I have been needing to road trip for a few months now.

Lease negotiations fell through at the first location. We’re already working on the new location. I’ll let you know when the ink on the lease is dry.

I don't like drinking liqueur much anymore with a cigar, but a good rum does go nice.
