A very important security update was released yesterday by apple. Everyone update your devices. This is something that will get worldwide news how big of a screwup apple did here.

Update: 2/23 - This is for all iOS devices. iPads, iPhones, iPods. Apple will be released a fix for there laptops, and desktops very soon.

Apple is outstanding.....after going through three POS toshiba and sony windows based laptops, I finally went to the dark side and have never looked back. No email hackings, not one trojan or malware virus surfing p#*n....

If you want to feel that way no problem. Again I am here to help out by passing on info about a critical update that apple has pushed to all iOS devices and soon there OSX systems.. Read up on google just how severe this problem is if you do not update.

Where you will have a problem is if for instance you are in starbucks and are using public wifi, then yes someone can "slip in" between you and the server and can steal or modify emails or any information being sent. Avoid using safari, as for now it is the only browser affected. Apple mail is also vulnerable.

The worst part is this bug has been in all iOS versions since 6.0 in 2013. So this is very serious. Thankfully it is now fixed. That is why everyone needs to update. I think Apple's stock will take a big hit tomorrow .

This is what I read and also have done research and contacted a coder who used to work for apple and he explained how serious this really is. Explaining people in Sochi at the Olympics if they use a public wifi can have all there info stolen from them including credit card, personal info, passwords due to websites who posted it is all over the internet where the code was screwed up. There is actually a website that will tell you if your device is vulnerable. http://gotofail.com

I don't doubt him at all but why not use safari or use public wifi ? Just update your device so you can use all the features and be secure. That is all I am saying. I posted this just to help the brothers and sisters out here. I know the severity of this security issue and that is why it is such a big deal. If you don't trust me do some research and you will see just how serious this is.

I guess I just assume if its a public network that it is probably unsafe... maybe I am the exception but I still am weary of making purchases on private networks even...

I understand, it is sad some people are not taking this serious. At the end of the day it is there personal info that can be stolen.

My computer automatically notifies me of Apple updates (I assume through my Itunes account), and I update any that seem relevant.

My computer wouldn't actually complete the update the first two times, it would patrially upload and then give me an error message. I think it was less than a week ago that I was successful.
