I love spicy food and outside of home or family members homes where I can doctor it myself, I seldom find food at restaurants that are spicy enough for me.

Well a girl at work knows this and while eating at a place she enjoys called Tijuana Flats she got me an early Christmas present. A hot sauce called Endorphin Rush.http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn264/cigarshirts/endorphin_rush.jpg Holy Shite Batman! This stuff is soooo hot. I tried just a very small dab on my finger to taste. The flavor at first was very good, but then the heat just jumped all over me and lingered. Whew! Haven't tried it on any food yet but am looking forward to it. Read more about it here; http://www.sweatnspice.com/proddetail.php?prod=32

One of my favorites is Crystal Louisiana Hot Sauce. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/57/Crystal_Hot_Sauce.jpg
Not overly hot but very flavorful and I just keep adding more of it if I want more heat.

Would be interested in hearing what some of the favorites of my fellow inmates are so I could see about trying some in the future.

and TOTAL heat is Pure Cap...heheheh just a touch in a big pot of chili!

I guess I could say I 'collect" hot sauces -- I've got something like 30 different ones in a kitchen cabinet.
Call me a traditionalist -- for the really hot stuff, I like Dave's Insanity and Blair's various "death" sauces best. Very hot, but still some flavor. I have lots of others that are very good, but i always seem to reach for Dave's or Blair's first.
A good runner up, not quite as hot, but still enough to be dangerous to the unsuspecting, is "Orange Crush" -- very good flavor, high heat.
I also like "Magma" which is a very thin clear sauce with habanero extract -- you shake it up to mix and the extract slowly gathers together like a lava lamp. It's especially good on pulled pork sandwiches!
For "everyday" mild hot sauces (when cooking for guests, for example) Cholula, Tabasco and Franks are good. Also Trader Joe's has a very flavorful, not too hot jalepeno-based sauce.

I have a bottle of Pure Cap, but I'm scared silly to even open it.

I'm simple...Louisiana hot sauce off the shelf at any Meijer/Wal Mart or Franks Red Hot Original(the Buffalo is good as well with chicken).

To me, anything that is so hot you can't taste what you're eating is plain dumb. ;)

My favorite currently is Blair's After-Death Sauce. I like it on eggs in the morning and in pepping up salsa.

Damn good stuff!

for some good heat with flavor, go with "capital punishment" (so good on a slice of pizza).

you want something that will make you cry, go for "vicious viper".

Franks is my favorite milder one. I also really like Cholula and Sriacha as well.

I can handle retarded heat, but just haven't really ever gotten into the various sauces.

I love grilled serrano's, I've had a few of those totally F my world up.

Sriracha is a great sauce but its more for hot dogs instead of ketchups or stews or sometihng. And I prefer the sriracha with the garlic and chili flakes over the squeeze tube paste one. It's also got too much sweetness which is great on hot dogs like ketchup, but wouldn't use it on plain old meat. Don't get me wrong, it has great flavor, but it isn't hot enough. YOu like really hot Asian sauces with hella flavor?

A lot of supermarkets seem to have dropped it. I used to be able to get it at Shaws, Hannaford, Market Basket, etc. Now none carry it at all, don't know why. I have to go to Asian markets. Which is OK, since I go there occasionally for ingredients anyway.

I'm not into the super hot sauces so I stick with some of the more traditional ones in Louisiana.

Tabasco (one of the McIlhennys I think was a general in the Marines during WW2)
Crystal. Good but not Tabasco.
Trappey's Bull Brand Hot Sauce. What I'm currently using.

I have three different ones I'm using at this time, depending on the mood and food. LA Victoria Salsa Brava (hot, so they say), Louisiana Gold Pepper Sauce (tasty) and then something I picked up in Jamaica, Busha Browne's Pukka Hot Pepper Sauce (rather wicked).

1044

Here is the write up on this stuff -

"Busha Browne's Pukka Hot Pepper Sauce, not for the faint hearted, is the ultimate sauce for the devotee of wickedly hot food. Made from fragrant fresh Jamaican Scotch Bonnet peppers, this sauce has stamina and an outstanding flavour."

It is Virginia Gentleman 90 Bourbon Chipotle Hot Sauce

I would love it if they ever are able to ship up here or if they get a distributor in Canada.... something about our silly labling laws and the use of Bourbon in the sauce....

Tabasco - only for pizza, but rarely used
Valentina - great in beer
Búfalo - great on taquitos and even greater on roasted corn w/ mayo and Parmesan
Chalula - best in sopa de fideo

I'd rather just eat jalepeños with the meal instead of using sauces. I also make my own salsa.

Tobasco - Habanero and Chipotle versions.
Magma - Very good for heat, but not much taste in my opinion.
Blair's After Death Sauce - Absolutely fantastic in tuna salad.

Sriracha - Used most often on everything from soup to chili to meatloaf.

If anyone is every in Michigan, in the Detroit area, go to Ferndale. At about 9 mile and Woodward there is a restaurant called Fly Trap, very cool place. It was featured a few times on Food Network for small places to go that have good food. Anyway they make their own hot sauce and it is absolutely amazing. They sell it 5 bucks for about an 8oz bottle. I could put that stuff on anything. Not only spicy but great taste too.

Since I'm not a fan of vinegar in even trace amounts, I feel lucky to have found a couple of commercial sauces that fill that requirement, and they do so admirably IMHO.

Pico Pica is available only in the far West, or online through Mexgrocer.com and Amazon. Herdez is distributed nationwide, as far as I can tell.

I am waiting to try the Scorpion Strike sauce when it's available here in the states!

It's made from the newest, hottest pepper in the world 1.46 million scoville heat units. The pepper is called The Trinidad Scorpion Butch T. Grown by our friends down under!

I have never understood the attraction to hurting oneself....twice....with peppers.
So with that in mind, my favorites, in glorious order are
http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/ae23/JAMpromotionsMKTG/hotsauce.jpg

Crystal is just so sweet and so savory and so perfectly piquante. Plus, it's made by people who KNOW.
Tabasco is the same with a touch more saltiness and tannicity. Plus, it's a classic, isn't it?
and Texas Pete is such a salty legend. MAYBE the perfect wing hot sauce, one bottle to a stick o butter.
Best of all, None of them will give you a reason to drag your a55 around on the ground like a wormy dog.

this thread is right up my alley. I know John Hard (CaJohn) and his stuff is all very good. His Oaxacan is the best tasting taco sauce I've ever had. Another go to sauce of mine is anything from Heartbreaking Dawns. Johnny and Nicole have really got a line of products to be proud of. I saw Butch T scorpions mentioned, I've met Butch T (Taylor) on a few occasions, very nice guy and a heck of a fried food cooker. My favorite wing sauce is Defcon sauces from New Jersey. Crazy heat to mild sauces. The wife and I go to fiery food festivals and have been exposed to quite a few sauces/salsas. I used to do reviews for Taste the Fear, I Love it Spicy and also Peppers and More, so I've sampled many types and heat levels. My go to sauce for oriental food is Thai Monkey. A nice spicey terriaki sauce with habanero peppers. There's usually 10-12 bottles in the fridge with about that many in my gotta try box. Got a few hundred in my collection, alot are autographed and special limited edition collectibles. Sorry for going on and on. Could've been longer.

Another vote for sriracha here. I use it on pretty much everything. Also, I usually have a couple extra packs of the sweet chili sauce from McDonald's floating around. Conveniently packed single serving, and great on everything from scrambled eggs to cheap ramen.

For pure heat and almost no flavor.....After Death Sauce is brutal. For good flavor and heat, I like Tabasco Chipotle or Franks extra hot. I like to think I'm an hot sauce aficionado, but I know I'm just an amateur, getting old sucks. :r

Had some wings yesterday that were dubbed "too hot for human consumption" on the menu. They were about as mild as mild can get. I was very disappointed.

I have a few bottles in hand. Cholula, tapatio, and sriracha are the most used. I do like the unique flavor of tapatio, as it isn't vinegar based like the other 2.

One of my favorites is Dat-L-Do pepper sauces and my all time favorites are Toad Sweat desert hot sauces, especially the key lime helps make a mean marinade for steaks on the grill and ice cream topping afterwards.

Frank's is my normal, everyday hot sauce. Sriracha if I'm cooking Asian food. One of several different Nando's sauces if I'm grilling pork or chicken.

Personally I believe that "Lousiana Hot Sauce" goes well on just about most things. Pork rings with this brand is a killer. H$ll it does not have to set your mouth aflame to be great. Plus it's available at all grocery stores.

I went through a phase where I was trying all types of different hot sauces. I kind of settled on Melinda's Extra Hot Habanero sauce for Mexican food and most entrees, and good old Tabasco for eggs and most breakfast foods.
