They sure are! Can't wait until they lift that embargo someday. Until then I'd suggest you shop at www.cigar.com they have AMAZING prices on Opus X ;)

Rules

Cigar Asylum Rules (http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/showthread.php?t=55040)

2. Cuban Cigars

As a general rule, Cuban cigars produced after 1962 are illegal to import, buy, sell, trade, and/or gift in the United States. Therefore, please do not make any threads or posts asking about, discussing, or even hinting (e.g. using initials, sounds like, first names, etc.) about:

how to buy Cuban cigars in the United States,
retailers of Cuban cigars that purportedly ship to the United States--please do not name any names, link to any sites, include pictures that link back to their websites, etc.,
shipping methods for Cuban cigars, including countries of origin and/or pictures revealing the same, and/or
buying, selling, or trading Cuban cigars.

Additionally, do not PM other members for information about any of the above. Doing so may be viewed as spam and dealt with accordingly.

If you’re fortunate enough to live in a country in which Cuban cigars are legal, then you’re the envy of many here! However, since we are a United States-based forum, we ask that you nevertheless follow the rules laid about above.

Introduction Thread

Post your introduction here, many useful links as well. (http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=7)

Welcome aboard!

You know guys, like everything in life taste is a matter of preference. Also, that which we can not legally have, is very desirable - think prohibition.

Honestly, there are few cubans I have smoked that are not matched by some of the dominican, honduran and ecuadorian smokes out there.
I will smoke a cuban now and then however, personally, I think their quality has deteriorated in the past 5 years to the point of even the the very top Behike line is inconsistent in construction and leaf. Not good for a product line. My opinion is this relates to the lack of highly trained rollers that were at one time the very best. That experience has either left the island, of retired without re-stocking the ranks through training programs.

I also believe that if the market to the US were blown open tomorrow there would be a massive rush to buy everything cuban, and then sometime later people would be smoking non cubans again.

I'm just saying fully enjoy what you are smoking now without thinking there is a holy grail, IMO we already have it.

Thanks

Opinions vary. I smoke Cuban cigars daily, and I think the quality has IMPROVED dramatically since 2012. But I still smoke a non-Cuban every now and then, although not often enough to speak in broad terms about their quality. ;)

I think some cigars are really good and some I don't like so much.
YMMV.
One thing that always surprises me is how many people enjoy a cigar. Or they want to, and didn't know it. Or they just haven't had the chance.
I think everyone around the campfire likes a cigar. :)
