Nice Ed!

May I ask what you call the part that extends down from the top (lip?) which also appears on the lower part of the box occasionally? I have a question about this but would like to use the proper (industry?) term for it :)

Would you call that the "seal"?

I call it "the part that extends down from the top".... :) Don't think anybody else does it....so we're safe in calling it that.

It is indeed part of the seal. My humidors create a "scissor" effect to ensure a good seal.

Thanks so much Ed :)

May I ask why some have this part on the lid, and others have it on the lower box?

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question!

Can't really speak for the others.... but, from what I can tell, that's all they have, nothing on the top to complete the seal. I make it such that they do like a "scissor" effect - so you can do this (youtube link.... (http://youtu.be/t41ZGZdxGkM)

You bet!

But I'm wondering why some humidors have the cedar "lip" or ridge inside the lid perimeter, and others have it on the box perimeter (where the lid and box meet).

I see it both ways on many different desktops and always wondered why it would be one way of the other.

I really like the design of this. The contrast between the light and dark wood is really stunning and works perfectly with the fleur de lis inlay. And that humidifier grill design is sweet!
