View Full Version : Cigar Aficionado Free
At a recent herf I leaned that not everyone was aware of the free CA deal. I did it a couple months ago and have gotten a couple issues already. I am not positive that CA is still among the offerings, but I assume it is. Couple interweb questions - don't give them your phone # (it's optional) to avoid junk calls/texts.

Please save your old issues and forward to the troop coordinators(hotreds or T.G) when you get a chance. These are prime reading materials, even old issues. :tu

I did this a few months ago. It's a great opportunity to get a nice subscription with very little effort. I also get Men's Health, Playboy and a couple of magazines for my wife.

Hmmm, it keeps giving me an error at the address screen saying that my city, state and zip don't match. Maybe because I'm doing it from my iPhone?

Oh nevermind, got it to work. My city has three different zip codes and it would only accept one of them. Weird.

They let you do a survey a month, and give you credit each month, so you could get CA next time if you wanted. Or Shape. ;)
I have done so many now I have put in for 3 CA subsciptions. Not sure if they add another year each time, or if I will just get nothing after the first year...but I don't care, the surveys take 2 minutes to do.
Also got free subscriptions to Men's Fitness, Playboy and a couple others.

Thanks for the tip, Tom. I'm sure the troops will appreciate the extra magazines I can pick up this way and via the $2 add-on subscriptions.

Let me know if I can help with that too, Adam, I can do whatever helps with my subsequent ones.
Thanks Tom, great gesture!
If you end up with three copies each month, and you don't mind, save the extras until you have a decent sized stack, then box them up and send via whatever is cheapest (media mail most likely). It doesn't matter if they are a few months out of date when I get them, some of these bases are so cut off, anything new to read is great.
I can't send Playboy though, so no sense adding that to any piles that might get sent this way.

Oh come on, the 11 pages out of 248 that are not advertisements are pretty good.

I received my first issue last week. I hadn't read the magazine in years and reading the new issue reminded me why I never subscribed. I think there was two pages about cigars near the beginning then a bunch of other stuff having little or nothing to do with cigars for almost 200 pages, then there was about two or three more pages about cigars, then dozens of pages of nothing but user-submitted pictures of people smoking cigars. I did learn that travel by private chartered plane has become really affordable and $100,000 can get me around in style.
But hey, read what you like & like what you read.

Hey, it's free so I'll give it a shot. Never read CA but I've gotten Guitar Aficionado for a couple years and really enjoy it. By the time I was done with the survey I was getting 3 other mags for free too include trade journals. If it comes through it will be awesome.
