Hmm, I was kind of leaning towards possibly Carol as the arsonist...she's kinda become more the "protect the group at ALL costs" advocate recently...and the girl as the one who was feeding the walkers on the perimeter...too many things don't add up either way yet though...

Spoiler:
Nice to have Rick back, he was an important character to the show.
Hoping for the group to have to move due to water contamination, need some new scenary.

The part with the fence was dumb, he didn't need to sacrifice the pigs either as the zombies where following him in the truck already. I don't know if the pigs where contaminated but I would think quarantine would have been a better option, can you imagine how amazing bacon would be in that setting? It would have only taken a couple of minutes to kill all those zombies at the fence line without letting them horde up. Just my thoughts. I did like the ending of the last episode with the burned bodies. Also plenty of good gore this week but some of the zombies head shots looked very CG'd

How the hell does Tyreese make it out of that walker hoard? C'mon man - a little unbelievable.

The show is definitely getting a little stale.
They used the same miraculous escape tactic last season with the Governor.

And what's with all the sympathy for the walkers?
Giving them names, having that little girl talking about them being the same people only "changed" ?
Seems like a recycle of the original Herschel storyline; when he was keeping walkers in the barn to maybe save them.

I fully expect an episode where they portray the survivors as the bad guys and the walkers as good.

I'm sick of Tyreese being soft, I understand he's in pain about that girl (her name escapes me...sorry Tom I know that was your gf) but he was one of my favs in the comic coz he was such a badass.

Yes this last ep was boring, I did like Darryl getting up in Bob's grill that was awesome.....Rick kicking Carol out was surprising, does this mean that Darryl will leave to find her?

Hershel and Glenn need to go.....just coz I want some changes that will shock people.

kelmac07
11-12-2013, 11:22 AM

After this past episode I take back what I said about Hershel, he was the man!

Yawn....the Governor......hopefully Michonne catches him off guard and kills him then we can move forward, but I have a feeling they are going to drag this out again.

Anyone watch Talking Dead? Someone brought up a possibility of Bob being a spy for the Gov......now that would be interesting.

I think I am done with The Walking Dead. The episode Sunday was very boring. They are just dragging things out and it is getting stale. Also, after next week they are taking a mid season break again. It is just old at this point.

Also, how many times are they going to keep ending the show by having the Governor standing outside the prison staring at the main group? Lamesauce.

I'm with ya Danny boy, I will give it until the very end of this season, then make my mind up. I was actually debating on coming back this season, but the previews for the season looked great and no signs of the Gov......well I was duped.

Wow, just power-watched 7 and 8 back to back last night, the same way I watched 1&2, 3&4 and 5&6.
I am so glad the governor got his, when I saw he had his own freaking episode, I almost quit watching,
but in the end it was good to watch him go through the whole cycle of family over again, only to see it
al taken away again. POS. Between this and Game of Thrones, I don't know which one is more exasperating
when an episode 8 arrives. Geez, they spend so much time off the air, you'd think they could can more than 8.

A whole episode for Darryl and Beth? At least it wasn't a whole episode of SGT Abraham Ford. :r

I thought it was a pretty good episode myself, granted it didn't cover much ground other then Darryl struggling to become a reformed bad@ss and Beth struggling to become less of a pansy but hey, writers gotta take breaks also right? :lr

As far as Abraham Ford goes, I am quite surprised they didn't give us any more to go on with that as of yet. I mean here they add 3 new people, give us no real info on them (other then what some know from the comics and what I gathered from the Talking Dead) and then leave us to wonder for at least 1 whole episode....

What about Tyrese? wonder how he is getting along with those 2 young girls and the baby in the woods. Would have been nice to have a brief flash of how that is going for him... :lr

and what of this scientist guy with the Abraham group? so he knows what caused it, doesn't mean he knows how to fix it. definitely too far gone to "fix" many things... much like being Mr. Hindsight at this point...

I am glad Beth's first drink wasn't peach snapps tho... :lr too bad it wasn't Mac's apple pie shine.... :tu

Boring-ish I agree maybe, but we finally know what Darryl was up to pre-apocalypse.

We also know hiding in a trunk works. I am just surprised we haven't seen anyone else use Michone's Sherpa technique or the "cover yourself in zomb-guts" strategy to walk among them yet....

I will go so far as to agree Beth's character so far hasn't been one of my favorites. But to see that Darryl feels bad for what happened with the Gov. (which was Rick's fault, if anyones) I found interesting....

I'm enjoying the second half of this season although I'm ready for these folks to start finding one another. The writers are dedicating full episodes to each group so don't expect a cut in of another group until they cross paths.

Now this method of story telling will wear thin on me soon as I need to some interaction between the groups. Looking at the previews we're in for at least 1 more episode focused on a single group with Maggie and her crew...but hopefully the groups start crossing paths soon.

Enjoyed this weeks episode. This whole Terminus has me thinking Woodbury all over again. Why are the gates to Terminus open for anyone to just walk in? And that didn't look like meat that she was grilling. Where was everyone else?

And the group Darryl is with, is this the same group that walked in on Rick (had him jump under the bed) and he ended up killing the guy on the toilet?

Should be an interesting season finale on Sunday. Wonder how they're gonna leave us hanging until October?

I have to admit I am a little disappointed as well, I expecting some closure, but on the other hand I liked how it set up the next season with one helluva cliffhanger.

OLS
04-01-2014, 07:30 AM
I think the ending was as good as one could expect. You knew they were gonna hang you, and I think this hang was very
well done, if for only the fact that all night as I lay in bed trying to sleep, I was thinking "WHO ARE these people and
what could they possibly be doing?" Half the crowd came in easy, the second half came in ready for action, both groups
were treated the same as far as we can tell. As for Beth, it was clear she needed some perspective. Her light was glowing
a little too bright for a post-apocalypse survivor. I think a few months of brutality and gang rape will harden her up some.
Poor old Darryl, every woman he tries to love gets taken from him.

But back to my original line of thought, they tidied up some loose ends, got the band back together and left you with
5 months worth of wondering WTF is going on in the old train yard. I can't see much wrong with that. As for Rick,
I am not sure what he is thinking. "They messed with the wrong people?" Really? That's what you say in a boxcar
covered from three angles by snipers? Not sure how Rick intends to 'show them'.

mosesbotbol
04-01-2014, 02:24 PM
They must have some plans for everyone in the train. The snipers did not try to kill them as they ran around Terminus. Terminus does not have a good vibe and I think they'll get out of there some how.

I heard the next season starts in Washington DC, FWIW...

I liked the finale along with the cliffhanger, but just wish this show would pick up the pace and quit with so much dead air.

I woudln't be surprised, they will drag us viewers along for another half season and then skim the surface of the cannibalistic cult that's at the terminus for the mid-season finale, since they tend to have good openers and finales and a whole bunch of filler throughout.

OLS
04-03-2014, 05:33 PM
I was thinking when they arrived, BOTH groups, 'home girl is just out there grillin' up a storm'. But they go out of
their way to show barely more than herbs and a few ornamentals growing around the area, which is SO industrial
by it's very nature that there is by definition no real area to grow vegetables. TWICE again, they showed the groups
being offered a plate. I was thinking, "Don't eat that stuff, its either human or walker." But even after being slapped
in the face with it twice (and having never really read the comics enough), I still didn't think any more of cannibalism.
But of COURSE it is cannibalism. Duh. And what's more, it just hit me that RICK was purposely teaching his son the
concept of funneling game into a trap. DUH, DUH, DUH. I am amazed at how thick I can be at times.

As for Carol and Tyreese, i think it is funnier still that the one person that can save Rick's bacon is the one person
MOST likely to say "F that jerk...kick ME out of the group, will ya?". But luckily, she is with Tyreese, who forgave
her in a dramatic scene. So the pressure/dilemma will be interesting when they come back.

Ah yeah, I forgot about Rick teaching Carl how to funnel game into a trap - the dramatic irony.

The reason I was so mad with myself is that on this show, you get VERY LITTLE in the way of character story progression,
so EVERYTHING that is said or done on this show by nearly any character, is important in some way. It is something I often
forget. Game of Thrones is even worse, there are so MANY More characters and storylines that they haven't a SECOND to
waste on something that is not relevant. The reason this sux double is that this show is chock full of mumblers. YOU KNOW
that every line is important, and sometimes I have to replay a sequence many times over before I can figure out what was
said in these throwaway line deliveries that lots of these characters give us. Glenn said something the other night that I still
haven't figured out

I wonder if there will be more of the Terminus story line?
It looks like they are going to give you more of the back story,
It seems like they spent the whole second half of last season getting there, and then were only in Terminus for 1 episode.
Rick still has to kill the guy using the machete, but will that be a big part of the story or just somebody that he crosses paths with later on in the series?

That'll be interesting. I stopped with the comic when things got a little weird with a dude with pet tigers... but up to that point it was good.
The thing I think they're gonna run into problems with though is that the comic is very fast paced... while I thought the dragging of season 2 was ridiculous and boring, I think tracking the comic this closely, they're going to burn through all the comic threads too quickly.
I mean, the last two episodes essentially burned through the equivalent of volume 11 of the comics (with some changes for dead people/different characters).

RIFE WITH SPOILERS

I thought the Beth episode was a mistake, I was burning it to a DVD and I could SEE that it seemed like the whole
episode was Beth. I thought, wait, is this show even OUT yet? Maybe this is a hoax. But I watched it and it made
sense, but in a lot of ways, I forgave the pace of it for the REALLY intense microcosm of a world they have yet to see,
but is certainly happening in one weird form or another in a lot of places across the country now locked in the undead
apocalypse. It also REALLY juxtaposed her way of thinking with theirs...She thinks "How can they STAY here?"
It was clear they thought "How could ANYONE go out THERE?" Beth has been living and surviving and had a lot of moments
where she had just accepted the new normal of sleeping with one eye open as the price of what she now knows was freedom.
I mean it has been written into two episodes now, the fact that the group feels they are bad-a55 enough to deal with
any random zombie that should happen by, gone out of their way to SHOW IT a few times.....Beth KNOWS that all you
really have to do is stay clear of herds, keep reasonably quiet and always alert. But the people in that hospital, man,
they are much more freaked out by it all it seems.

And now on top of that, you get Carol wheeled in, and now you KNOW that Beth wants out as soon as she can conspire
with Carol. But man, how to hide the connection to keep it safe? And is Carol now a kind of swing vote or something?
I could see her getting out of the rat race for some quiet, purpose-driven time at the hospital. You do have to consider
that in the previous episode, she was just TIRED. Everything had changed, she was not even sure she wanted to re-connect
with Darryl, or so it seemed to me. I think she still carries a grudge and realizes if she stays with them she is going to
have to come to terms with them judging her for something that she felt was perfectly correct to do. Who knows now.

But what the episode was was just another set piece to drag everything back down to the farm speed. But the angles
of this new wrinkle are about as wide open as can be. Can it be that the team will now be just another conqueror?
I mean in the sense of being "the Governor"s? Come in, assess the crazy level, kill the right 3-4 people and ALL settle
down to be the new face of civilization in the ATL?
Boggles the mind.

Victor808
11-05-2014, 02:41 PM
ALSO SPOILERY

The only saving grace to that episode was seeing Carol wheeled in. Speculation is that she's faking it, that she and Darryl some how scouted the place and got info that Beth was in there.... That means only one thing: Carol's now gonna kick some hospital people @ss... I'm guessing that since this is just a side-plot, there's just going to be one more episode to close it out (not the next episode apparently, as they're running concurrent?)... but two episodes from now, or whenever, there is going to be a lot of dead people in the hospital...

I think when Darryl says "Come on out" I think that is a a flashback or a Quentin Tarantino type skip around, I think somehow Darryl & Carol hear the gunshots from Beth & "Chris Rock" they meet up with "Chris" and they set up a plan to have Carol get into the Hosp to save Beth, then all hell breaks loose.

Someone mentioned to me that the next episode will all be about the other group (Mullet, Glen, Maggie & the Commando guy) I tend to believe that. we shall see this Sunday, but I don't think we are going to get a conclusion to the "Beth situation" just yet......stay tuned true believers.

Ok... caught up on the last two...

Don't know anyone else's take on these, but they were both a bit slow.

(spoilers! don't read if you're behind)

The splinter group episode with Abraham was... ok. I liked the way they really portray him as almost desperately clinging on to the cure (later found out to be a bold faced lie)... and they do a decent job of showing why it's so important to him. I thought they missed a bit on showing what happened to his family... I was able to put it together, but they left it a bit more ambiguous than I'd like (in the comics if I remember correctly it was men from his own group who raped his wife and daughter, who he then had to kill with his bare hands. In this episode it seemed like it was just random guys....)

Last night's episode played out pretty much as expected, no real surprises there. It was a really quiet, subdued episode but I think it worked because it was mainly focusing on two characters who are best when they're quiet. Carol and Daryl are both so workman-like about dispatching zombies, no screaming, no crying... they're like a machine.

1 - good to see that Beth's friend found Carol/Daryl... too bad he was a d$ck about it
2 - now we know how the hospital "recruits" people who they save and keep on to work to pay off their debt... they make their own customers with a swift collision
3 - I'm excited for some terminus-level justice to be exacted on the hospital... next week I guess.

So, I know how things resolve themselves between Abraham and Eugene-the-science guy in the comics... I wonder how they're planning on playing it out in the series. Anyone have any bets? Couple good hits and they're square? A kick in the nuts? Carol style exile for Eugene? Is Rosita going to have to intervene to keep him alive?

I don't think she is going back to her old self, I believe she is just fatigued, this rest in the hosp may be what she needs.

Yeah, that scene confused me at first as well. I thought the book fell out of carol's backpack, but i guess it was supposed to be darryl's pack and it just fell out when she was handing it to him or something. I hope it's just Darryl coping with his past. Hopefully it doesn't turn him into some sort of sensitive sally... can't lose the most efficient zombie-killing machine around.

I also had a secret hope Carol was just bluffing when she got wheeled in, and she was going to get up and start killing people right and left. But I guess I was wrong. We have to wait for Rick to show up for the real violence to begin.

I've been trying to figure that out as well.

My best guess is that it somehow ties into her talk with Dawn about how Dawn always gets someone else to do her dirty work or something....

Either beth "gets it" by realizing she can get someone else to do the work of killing Dawn for her... or Beth "gets it" by realizing that Dawn isn't changing at all, that she's still willing to do cruel things to maintain the appearance of power.

I really wish this midseason had ended stronger. I kind of felt like they really didn't accomplish much after that butt-kicking start.

I mean.... the first 3 episodes were strong finishes to the terminus theme ... between carol's rambo moves in episode 1 to Rick's executioner style in episode 3 there was a lot of action and tension.

But then... we had to fiddle around with beth's situation in episode 4, Eugene's big lie in episode 5, Carol and Darryl's big adventure in episode 6 (ok, that one was really good anyway...) and then episode 7 to bring them to a common point so episode 8 could be executed.

With all the buildup to bring it together, I just was hoping for a bit more. Maybe the problem was they never really fleshed out the hospital group much. There weren't enough identifiable characters, no reason to hope for any particular outcome. I didn't wish dawn dead or alive...

I kinda liked Dawn and thought she could have been swayed to be a better person with Rick's group.

According to Kirkman, some big changes are coming this next season (not sure if he meant the rest of this season or next), but he kind of hinted about Maggie and how she will deal with this, and there is supposedly another foe coming that is supposed to be worse than the governor....he also hinted that they will be out of the Atlanta region soon.

I personally thought it was a good season & I enjoyed the mid-season finale.

It was good... I don't mean to be a negative nancy. It's still the best thing on tv. I just felt like it started the half-season way stronger than it ended.

If they're gonna follow the comic books then there is going to be a new baddie who is WAAAYYY worse than the gov. We'll see.

I need to re-read the comics, since they weren't following them as much I became uninterested

After watching 7 & 8 back to back last night, I am probably done with this show.
I DO give em credit for not trying the BS cliff-hanger episode thing with episode 8,
but I just think the show itself seems spent. Its not that they don't have the right
to do it the way they wish, but they are NOT compelling me to come back.
That sounds stupid having just said I hate cliff-hangers, but there doesn't seem to be
much to care about going forward. I was hoping that Beth would get comfortable in this
new life on the road and just bust out that bikini she found while out looking for baby
formula, lol. Now the only thing she'll be busting out is maggots. I am glad we have a
new hot girl rolling with the group, and I have liked Abraham since Band of Brothers.
We'll see, I doubt I will abandon it, but its easier and easier each half-season to say
F it.

3 DAYS!!!!! & Don't forget afterwards the premiere of Better Call Saul!!!! :wo

I have been re-reading the comics (I never finished them, especially after the show started), wow I really REALLY hope they introduce a new character that Kirkman teased about on Talking dead last mid season.

I stopped the comics around Negan. I'll probably pick up again after that thread has been resolved. I couldn't handle the cliffhangers. :)

Should we start a new thread? I mean were not on season 4 any longer....
