View Full Version : Fourth Annual Fantasy Football for Stakes and the Troops

In our first year we raised 385 sticks for the troops, the second year we raised 499 sticks for the troops. Last year somewhere between 350 and 400, I forget how many.
I've created a Yahoo League the same as last year. The sign-on info is the same, I simply restarted the league.
There will be only ten players.
Buy in will be six premiums ($60.00 minimum value, NC and/or CC) and a sixer (minimum) for the troops, due prior to the first week's kickoff. You all know the drill on sending betting smokes along with your buy-in to save money. Feel free to handle that however you like.
Payout will be 30 smokes to first place, 20 for second place, and 10 sticks for third place.
I can take care of receiving/sending smokes, or anyone else can do it. I've done it a few times before without a hitch and I have lots of extra storage tubs.
As always, I will personally put together a nice fiver for the winner of the playoff loser's bracket as an incentive to keep everyone involved to the end. If anyone wants to offer any other bonus prizes, that would kick ass. Maybe something such as "fiver for highest score for week six" or something like that.
Or "beat me this week, and I'll send a fiver to the troops". We had tons of that going on last year and it made it super fun for everyone.
The key is generosity, banter, and fun. The more prizes, the more fun it'll be. The more smokes we can gather for the troops, the more fun it will be.
If you cannot stay available for the entire season, please, please don't sign up, or find a brother or sister to step into your spot. Disappearing will just hurt what we're trying to do for the troops, and your team will immediately be assigned a new manager.
Live Draft is not yet set, we will hold off until the last moment to allow for injuries and cuts and so on.
Only ten guys will be playing, I've sent invites to last year's players.
1. Shilala
2. Coach
3. Cole
4. Stephen
5. mkarnold1
6. Mattso3000
7. Jarrod
8. Sofaman
9. Jeremy
10. BeerAdvocate
If someone drops out, we'll look for another player. Hopefully we'll get 100% of our guys back, especially with the pass involved.

Can I make it 3 in a row?
Scott, I think I still owe troop smokes from last year but not sure how many. I'll get a few bundles on the way soon.

Okay, the first couple big announcements for this season...
The most important is that Cole will be Official Co-Commissioner with me. He's going to take care of tracking all the stuff you dicks never report to him. :D
Secondly, scoring will now be changed to Standard League Scoring.
I've made all the changes already, please look them over. I'd like to make a few bonus categories, but I'll worry about that later.
Here is where I got the Standard League Scoring Info. (http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/resources/help/content?name=scoring-formats)
Cole and I are working on a League Manual. It will include all our rules and stuff. Not just pertaining to the league, cause we don't really have any rules, but pertaining to the pass.
It'll help us all understand each other, what's expected, and will help from anyone getting upset over others not taking care of stuff in a timely manner.
I've considered creating penalties for not doing things we've promised to do, like sending the pass along in a timely fashion or getting our entry cigars in, or whatever.
I think that idea sucks.
Instead, I think it's best to agree that all participants exchange cell numbers. That way everyone can gang up and torment whoever isn't pulling their weight. Or we can all help him out. I think it's important that we be patient with each other and realize that life life's everyone. So no penalties.
I've also considered changing this to a Rotisserie League. Stephen has been up my ass about that from day one. I don't have a problem with it if you guys want it. I just think the head-to-head format suits what we do with our betting and all, and I don't know how rotisserie works other than what Stephen has explained.
So that's a pending development.
There's plenty of time to get your wishes heard before the season starts, so let's get to it. :tu

Got ya, Champ. Cole would probably know if anyone owes from last year. If we get sticks from last year, we'll just roll them into this year's totals. :tu

Never been in a rotisserie football league. Seems like it would be harder on bets, trash talk, etc... I'll put my vote in to stay h2h.
chaase321
07-30-2013, 01:31 PM
I like head 2 head as well...Rotisserie would be okay to bet in because we would be betting more like "if I score more rushing yards than you this week" etc...but I'm not sure if it would "pull in" more bets.
Welcome to everyone that has participated in the past, and if anyone is dropping off this year please let us know so we can get a new guy (or gal) in here to play.
Matt...good luck with the 3-peat, not gonna happen!
I'll check on if anyone needs to pay anything from last year and we can roll it forward.
As Scott mentioned, the pass is a pretty big deal, and you guys are a great bunch of guys...we wouldn't trust these good of sticks, or this much $$ involved with sticks, so please consider the timeliness and what not when not only signing up for the league, but especially the pass. (Note: you don't have to participate in the pass).
And lastly, remember this is for the troops, so the more we bet, the more they get! :D
Thanks everyone...updates soon!!!

Cole, I think I'll send the pass to you first so you can catalog the sticks. We can work an order out after that, or dig up our order from last year. I think it worked good, plus it moved really fast.

Works good for me Scott.
Let's get these rules set (and pass rules) so we can make sure everyone really wants to be a part this year.
It was an awesome league last year and I look forward to it again!

I think everyone will, Mark. The league has morphed into some serious FF players, so it makes sense to go from "wild fun scoring" to standard scoring.
I just emailed a copy of rules and regs from another FF league to Cole so we can cheat off them as we write up our own.
I'm hoping it doesn't take us long, but I'm not promising anything. It's a lousy job. :)

We already all know that Scott! :r
It looks like my last post was Jan 9, 2013, and at that time:
Matt owed 25 troop sticks
Coach owed 20 troop sticks
Not sure if either of these got taken care of or not, but just so you all know from my records.
Now that I am assistant Commish, I will keep a better running of everything from the beginning. Meaning: Entry fees, Troops Sticks, Bets, and the Pass.
I'll keep all the records, Scott will keep all the sticks (he has more room :D )
Scott, I'm going to take a look through the old thread, and a look at what you sent for Weeze's league, and shoot you an email...then when you and I agree, we can throw up all the changes for the league to vote on. I am pretty sure any and all changes we want to make can be done in Yahoo! and we won't have to type anything extra up for the league...but I can also probably make a PDF of all the rules and post it here so folks don't have to go searching for it on Yahoo!.
We will still have to put together rules for the pass (and by rules I mean, rights, privileges, and punishments) and directions for everyone. That should be fairly easy because we had a pretty decent process last year.
This weekend is my big move into the new house, so I will be out of commission until later next week. Granted I'll probably stop by and add input, but having time to really look at the rules will be difficult until the second week of August...no worries though gents, we will have everything in order in plenty of time before the draft and start of the season!

25 sticks sounds right to me, Cole.

Cole, I asked Matt to look at the scoring and see if it suits.
I also harvested last year's thread for the pass rules and stuff.
Weeze's rulebook is mostly worthless to us past layout. All the league play rules are at Yahoo. We just need rules surrounding signup dates and so forth. And the pass. I have that, but I haven't tweaked it out yet.
My harvesting of info really just amounts to notes and copy/pastes, so give me a little time before you waste your time. I'll pass what I have to you and you can expand on it, and so on. K?
I'm working on getting sofaman signed up, too. That should be done by this evening, I think. He had some Yahoo trouble.
Coach pm'd and he said he's in. He'll sign up later this week.
I texted Stephen, he hasn't texted back. I think he has to get permission to play, he's pvssy-whipped.
Jarrod posted and said he's in but hasn't signed on.
Travis? (Beer Advocate) pm'd me a good while back and wants to play. We should hear from him, I hope.
So that just leaves Stephen and Jeremy unaccounted for, is that right?
Everyone has been emailed and pm'd the link to this thread.

Here's a discussion point that I don't really wanna discuss, but you guys should get a chance to throw input at it.
Team Size.
I'm thinking this...
QB, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, K, D.
Or this...
QB, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, K.
Quite frankly, I like 7 guys best. If the TE could be TE/QB/WR/RB that would suit me because there's really only Jimmy Graham and Tony G and a big question mark at Gronk. I guess Pitta got hurt the other day, if he matters. But the TE world is thin, thin, thin.
So 7 guys playing, 5 on the bench (backup QB, 2WR, 2RB I'm thinking) and 2 IR positions is my vote. Lots of Free Agents, no waivers, no waiver order, straight up anarchy.
Last year we fielded 9, had 5 on the bench and 2 IR's.
This year I'd like to field 7, 5 on the bench and 2IR. (Or 3 on the bench and 2 IR. That'd be my dream team but I didn't want you guys to have a stroke over a 10 man team.)
So that'd be 12 guys a team, 120 total, and a really sick field of FA's to work with week to week. I'm also considering how ridiculous the injuries are anymore. The FA field shrinks and shrinks every year because players won't play hurt. That just leaves young, hungry guys to go on and if you keep your ears on you can find some real gems.
Those are my thoughts and what I plan to do unless you guys talk me out of it.
Feel free to b1tch and complain heartily. :tu

Or this...

Quite frankly, I like 7 guys best. If the TE could be TE/QB/WR/RBI would make this an TE/WR/RB and not allow a QB to be played here...there are only a few awesome QBs, and with them being able to score so much (I know we cut back, but...) it doesn't make sense to allow two of those...plus this gives more of a "real" flex play here. that would suit me because there's really only Jimmy Graham and Tony G and a big question mark at Gronk. I guess Pitta got hurt the other day, if he matters. But the TE world is thin, thin, thin.
So 7 guys playing, 5 on the bench (backup QB, 2WR, 2RB I'm thinking) and 2 IR positions is my vote. Lots of Free Agents, no waivers, no waiver order, straight up anarchy.I hate this idea...not everyone has a chance to be on waivers right as soon as they are available to be picked up....I hated this last year as well. I think you should have a waiver order, and once you pick you move to the bottom of the list...that way if you are 1st and get the first waiver pick up, you then have to wait for everyone else to have the "chance" to at least pick someone before you get your next choice. Also, I vote that waivers have 2 days of processing...that's plenty of time before games start to pick someone up and know your team.

I don't think TE/WR/RB is an option. Neither is the option I suggested. Oh yeah, it is. I'd agree to that in order to leave waivers as is.
I freakin HATE waivers and waiver priority order, Cole. I understand that lots of guys can't be right on it when it comes to grabbing players because of other obligations. It bites everyone in the ass equally. But I have always felt that the guy who works the hardest should win this game, not the guy who waits 2 days to check his team. I'm thinking of my BIL when I mention this.
My BIL seldom even sets his team in the money league after I draft a monster for him, and he still wins. He doesn't even replace guys who are hurt, and he still wins. That pisses me off.
If a guy pounds the airwaves, internet, and his cell phone for constant FF content, it should give him an edge. Waivers and waiver priority erases that edge and it sucks. Even if it bites me in the ass cause I'm at Family Day every Sunday, I'd rather see Matt snipe a backup RB than someone else get him who didn't even set their team for the week. That'd make me nuts.
That said, if you guys want waivers and waiver priority, you got it. We just need 5 guys to want it and I'll change it., cause it really is a "standard setting". Or you and I can toss a coin. Or whatever you think is fair.
Dammit, I hate waivers. :D

I understand your frustration with the waiver priority....here is another method that I am using in my other league that I run with work colleges...
Basically this is how it works:
In a Free Agents Acquisition Budgets (FAAB) waivers system, each manager receives a dollar amount (say $100) to place blind bids on players that are on waivers. The manager with the highest bid at the end of the waiver period claims that player and that bid amount is deducted from the team's acquisition budget.
FAAB Rules
The FAAB does not apply to free-agent pickups. All free agents can be picked up on a first-come, first-serve basis, without bids. In other words, if no one bids on a player, you can pick him up for free after the bidding is resolved. Bids are hidden to other managers until a player clears waivers. The winning bid will display in the Transaction log. Players with multiple bids placed on them will display under "FAAB Bids" on a league's Transactions log.
The FAAB system charges you the exact amount you bid if your bid is successful. It will never automatically adjust your bid to beat any other bids by $1.
The default FAAB budget for teams is usually $100.
You can submit $0 bids, and if no one else bids more, you will be able to claim that player.
There isn't an option to force managers to make a minimum bid amount.
FAAB tiebreakers
If multiple managers place an equal bid on a player, there are three tiebreaker options:
Continual rolling list: Waiver claims are processed in waiver priority order and each successful claim moves a manager to the end of the waiver priority list.
Reverse order of standings (Football only): Waiver claims are processed in reverse order of standings and successful claims do not affect waiver priority list.
Weekly rolling list based on standings (Football only): Waiver claims are processed in reverse order of standings and each successful claim moves a manager to the end of the waiver priority list.
Note: The priority list only changes when it is used to break a tie between two owners who submit identical bids. If a team submits the highest bid and the tiebreaker is not needed to award the player, the priority list remains unchanged following that claim.
what do you think? it gives everyone a shot...but also, if you think this guy is going to be a big impact (say a back-up RB for a guy that just broke his leg) and not everyone knows about him yet, or you have done more homework, then you can place your "silent" bid at what you think he is worth.
We can set the waiver priority to 1 day instead of 2 days...and then also, after that period is up, all other players left out there are Free Agents, and anyone can pick them up without having to make a silent bid.
shilala

That's a cool setup, but it's also too much to manage.
Maybe we're talking about 2 different things. I'm really talking about picking up free agents and the pain waivers brings to it.
Take your example about the backup RB, I can just immediately grab him.
If the player I drop would go on waivers, and be subject to waiver priority, that's cool with me.
Problem is, and correct me if I'm wrong, Yahoo places every free agent on waivers when you pick him up. Then everyone and their brother can hop on that same player, all plying on the initial guy's FF smarts and him getting squat for his effort.
Plus it's highly likely it's HIS RB that got his leg broke, and he's trying to stay alive by immediately tying up that team's backup RB. To do that he'd have to drop a good bench player to make space since his broken legged guy already played, and that's the cost of doing business, or the insult added to injury, if you will.
So my contention is this:
If Free Agents were not subject to Waivers in any fashion, I'd be cool with waivers and waiver priority. I'm okay with dropped players being placed on waivers, because they are inherently valuable unless they're injured and out for the season, or something like that.
There is a way to kind of implement the "bidding" process, and that would be to simply limit how many moves a team can make. We can set waiver moves to 10 or 20 per season, or whatever seems reasonable. I don't think that's necessary either, but if I shorten the number of players on teams, there are likely to be a lot more waiver moves. But I like that. It's playing the game, and a very fun part of FF strategy.
I'm trying to change my mind, but it's kinda like trying to stick a wet noodle up a wildcat's ass. I'm getting nowhere fast and it's painful. :)
Oh, I just caught your highlighted thing...
I think both my idea and yours are available options. The TE/WR/RB, and the TE/WR/RB/QB. I just double checked, and they both are, yes.
With the way we changed things, QB is going to be less valuable than a 1st string RB, WR, or top 3 TE. WR being shaky unless there are a few monsters this year. But that's debatable.
I think the TE/WR/RB may be something guys would like. I was just shooting for a real "flex play" by including the QB, but that's not at all necessary. Neither are necessary, really, but it might make things easier as players get hurt.

The waiver wire that we had last year works for me this year...now that i know what it is from the start of the season rather than a few weeks in. I was always used to the 2-day waiting period.
However, I would like us to vote on maybe a waiver "cap" (say 20-25 acquisitions). What do you all think about that?
chaase321
08-01-2013, 09:44 AM
Also, after just now finally looking at the scoring online, I have a couple things that I want to put up for vote...
*NOTE* Scott, maybe we can get all of these things together from this thread in about a week or 2, and send the out to everyone via PM to vote on??
...Can we take away the -1 point for kickers missing a kick over 40+ yards? I hate when a kicker tries a 62 yrd kick right at the half just to see if he can pick up a few points and the miss gets me -1. I think from a kicking standpoint, if you miss inside 40 yrds, then you deserve to have a point deduction, but over 40 is a little worse percentages...I would also be open to 50+ being the only one where you don't get a 1 point deduction. What do you all think?
chaase321
08-01-2013, 09:49 AM
Also (i'm keeping each one of my items separate to help be able to recognize them later), I am all for giving bonuses for people that hit certain milestones in a game.
i.e. QB throwing for 300 yrds in a game gets 2 bonus points...400+ yards get 5 bonus points.
RB running for 100 yrds in a game gets 3 bonus points...150 yrds gets 5 bonus points.
Same thing for WRs
With the QB touchdowns only worth 4 points, the QBs are going to be seriously devalued this year...adding a bonus would help and would reward someone who drafts an excellent QB in the first couple of rounds.
Again...up for discussion and vote.
Mattso3000
08-01-2013, 10:00 AM
I was thinking that as well, Cole. A 50+ field goal shouldn't have a penalty for a miss.
That was a lot of reading for the waiver rules... I like the idea of the auction, we do that in another league I'm in and it works well. If yahoo does not have functionality for it though, Scott is right and it would be way too much work. I'm also not a fan of waivers in general as it gives certain teams an advantage when diligence should be its own reward. We could move back the time on FA availability to tues. afternoon or wed. morning to allow more of a chance for everyone to take a look at the pool instead of just opening it up at 8 AM. Just an idea.
shilala
08-01-2013, 10:03 AM
Cole, I don't think any of those tweaks require a discussion or a vote. They're just minor compared to how drastically we overhauled the scoring, and they are all excellent ideas that I'm sure nobody will be upset about.
I think you can make all those changes yourself, I gave you Co-Commissioner access. I wanted to make us both commissioners but it wouldn't let me. I have no idea if there's any access restrictions for co-commisioners, but this would be a great time for you to check it out.
So far as the waiver cap goes, let's start high, see how it works out, and decrease it after we say how it plays in? I'm thinking 2 a week is more than reasonable, so how about 35?
I know Weeze's league gets 10, but they can get an unlimited amount if they pay for them. That'd be an awesome way to get troop cigars, but we don't have that ability in Yahoo, I don't believe. Meaning I don't think we can add waiver moves to individual teams at will.
But we COULD set waivers at unlimited because it shows how many moves guys make. After ten we could charge 5 or 10 troop smokes for each waiver move. Something like that would need to be put up for a vote, though.
So why don't we start at 30ish, then see what the guys say if we ever get everyone signed up and involved?
shilala

I do think that we may have the functionality to halt FA pickups till Tuesday morning. I'd have to check that, and that's something that I'd accept as a compromise in lieu of the whole crappy waivers setup.
Halt moves till Tuesday and put a cap on the amount of moves and maybe charge for extra waiver moves..
That's a very nice compromise. I can't believe you guys talked me into it. :D
I don't think that needs a vote, either. It's all for the good of the troops, and that's what we're about. We could set the waiver cap at 10 and charge 5 troop sticks each for any waiver moves over that.
shilala
08-01-2013, 10:14 AM
Cole, can you put all those things we want to do in one post?
If you and Matt and I are in agreement on all the points, that'll make it easy for you or me to change all the stuff at Yahoo.
I can easily do it, but I'd like you to at least try, just to see if you have access. If you don't have time for either, I'll get it. I'm just guessing you have time, but if you're banging this out at lunch I'll just do this crap till your life slows down a bit. I've got plenty of time right now.

Sorry...that was a lot of talk about waivers!! lol.
I am cool with these three waiver options:
1.) a cap of 30 (as Scott suggested) and anything over results in troop sticks
2.) Not allowing waiver pickups until 2 days after the games are played (so Tuesday morning)...then have it be a free for all like in the past
3.) The auction process of buying guys on waivers.

I checked the site, I can make changes, and basically by you giving me co-commish rights, I can change all settings...the only thing I cannot do is "give" commish rights to anyone else, that's only you...but we should be good.
I'll make the scoring changes here soon on the site to do what we think about the bonuses and missed FGs. If anyone has any problems or reservations about those changes, it is a simple fix to change them back :tu

Excellent on the access and making changes. That's awesome.
1.) a cap of 30 (as Scott suggested) and anything over results in troop sticks
2.) Not allowing waiver pickups until 2 days after the games are played (so Tuesday morning)...then have it be a free for all like in the past
3.) The auction process of buying guys on waivers.
On 1, let's consider cutting that cap back.
My thinking is that we raised far fewer troop smokes than we should have last year. About 150 short of the previous year. That sucks ass. If this little dealio can pull in even 50-100 smokes that would be awesome. At 30 moves it may never come into play.
I decreased the team size, so there will be good FA's all the time. That should make for lots of waiver moves and lots of troop cigars.
If we do that, a cap of 15-20 is good.
I do like the auction process. It's just too much work to do and you'd be stuck with it, and you're already gonna be overworked. The "pay for waivers" is easy to follow and guys can self-report, or we just look at the league page.
I'm fine with #2. That's exactly what I was thinking. Open moves Tuesday morning at 8:00 (or 11:00 if we end up with any left coasters playing).
On 3, I covered that.
So we're really, really close. :tu

Everything is possible Scott. I can take care of it!!! :D
Here are the changes that were in question:
1. Kickers will no longer incur a -1 point deduction for missed FGs over 50 yards
2. The TE position will now be a QB/RB/WR/TE position
3. QBs that throw for 300-399 yards in a game will earn a 3pt bonus
4. QBs that throw for 400+ yards in a game will earn a 5pt bonus (NOTE, this IS an on top bonus...so if they throw for 400+ yards, they will earn 8 total bonus points)
5. RBs/WRs that run/receive for 100 yards in a game will earn a 3 pt bonus
6. RBs/WRs that run/receive for 150 yards in a game will earn a 5 pt bonus (Same ON TOP bonus as above)
7. The waiver wire:
- Waivers will not be allowed to be chosen until 8:00am CST (9am EST) on the TUESDAY after each weekend. This allows time for all managers to look at their teams.
- You will be limited to 15 waiver pick ups in the season for free...each waiver pick up after you use your 10 will result in you OWING 5 troop sticks PER WAIVER pick up.

That waiver pickup rule needs to hit the rule book, and we need to make guys aware later.
We don't want everybody to smoke through their waivers and be mad when they're out.
Everything else they can see on Yahoo, we'll just let them know to check all the scoring and positions pre-draft so they draft accordingly.

I liked the way you did the consolation bracket last year, and I'm good with a 4 team, 2 week playoff. 4 teams is plenty in a 10 team league. The 6th place guy may not even have a winning record, ya know?
I'll see if I can wrangle that waivers thing.

Aww, dammit. I can't do the waivers like we want. Any waivers at all causes a continual rolling list.

I'll look into this more, but it doesn't look promising.

:tu
Rotisserie baseball, not football my friend.:tu

However, I would like us to vote on maybe a waiver "cap" (say 20-25 acquisitions). What do you all think about that?
Not a fan. Several of us play defense/kicker roulette, and that would completely submarine that strategy.
Stephen
08-03-2013, 03:16 PM
:tu
I actually liked the starting lineup we could field (QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/TE/FLEX/K/DEF). Gave a team a lot of options for drafting/waiver purposes. I believe we had 9 starters and 5 bench players.

Hey kids, unfortunately Stephen just can't play this year. Work is going to be filling up his time and it'll just be too much.
I asked Stephen if we could call on him next year in case we need a replacement, and he said that'd be great.
I'm sorry to see him go, I really enjoyed kicking his ass on a regular basis.
Cole and I are going to begin looking for a replacement. We have a number of guys who have asked about our FF league and a bunch more that we think would be a good addition to our league.
Despite that, if anyone has a suggestion for someone we should consider, please pm Cole and/or myself.

Maybe if it was higher...I think the original idea was 35 moves. That would give you cushion and still allow for troop stick penalties if anyone goes over.

I agree here. In a 10 team league there is plenty of depth to field this. There is plenty of depth at TE to keep it and eliminating the d doesn't help depth and takes out some of the fun.

Mike, you got it exactly right.
The reason there's a rule book now is because there's problems. Cole and I spend hours chasing people simply because they don't take time to read, follow the league thread to check on developments, don't make arrangements to move the pass along, don't report the winners and losers of bets, don't send their entry smokes, the list goes on and on.
The entire goal, and the reason we're taking the time to put together a short, clear, and concise set of rules is to fix those things that are broke so that he and I can also enjoy the league rather than being mired in suck, trying to keep things ironed out.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Fantasy Football, you guys, and raising smokes for the troops. This league has been a lot of fun at times.
But for lots of reasons, last year sucked. Had Cole not helped me, and not agreed to help this year, I wouldn't have started this league again.
Now that I know this year will be more of the same, I'm not going to bother.
I don't have time to reprimand anyone for breaking the rules, especially when it's caused by not having time to read a page of simple rules.
If someone would please take over the Commisioner duties, that'd be great. I'm retiring. I'll send the pass on to whoever is willing to take care of that. Tony posted that he'd like to play, he can have my spot.
Thanks for having me, gentlemen!!!

Scott, my rant was in no way to get you to quit. And by reading your reply, the problem is people not communicating. As commissioner and cocommissioner you and Cole, should just say to the people that couldn't follow the very simple rules, that they are not welcome back.
And tell the people that are in communication is the key. If they know there will be weeks at a time that they can't send an email or worse the pass this league isn't for them.
I am sorry you have had so many problems in the past. I did not realize that many people did not follow a simply rule of doing the right thing and communicating.
Thanks for all your hard work

Scott, the league wouldn't be the same without you. If you would like, I can take over with Cole as co-commissioner to help with the league so you could just play and not have to worry about any of the other mess. I could probably do another coolidor for the entry sticks. My only issue would probably be the troop sticks...there is no way I would have room for them and I also have no connections to get them where they need to go.

Ok gents,
Before anyone jumps ship (anyone other than Stephen who just can't do it this year), I wanted to say a couple things...
This has been a great league over the years, and I was fortunate enough to jump in last year, so I am very excited to either be in charge this year, or help the person that is in charge. That said, I sent an email to Scott to see if I can beg him back into the league. Mike, I don't think your post was intended to make people mad...but the previous talks with Scott has allowed me to see that this is somewhat of a difficult league to run because people do not stay vested and being the "azzhole" who has to track someone down because they didn't pay up their bets, their entries, or they are stalling on the pass makes it a pain and a lot of work for someone who just wants to have a fun league that brings sticks to the troops.
That said, I don't think that the actual "rules" of the fantasy league are changing much this year. I think we should go back to the free for all waivers set up, and the rest of the rules that have changed slightly (biggest being the QB scoring) won't really require anyone to read the rules.
I think what the big concern is here is that people:
1.) Get their entry sticks in BEFORE the season starts
2.) Pay up on their bets
3.) Don't hold up, lose, destroy, or otherwise hurt the pass that is worth $400+ and a VERY COOL part of this league.
That said, we all know Scott is a generous brother, and doesn't like to upset others. I also am generous and kind...however, I think we need to be strict about the above listed rules 1-3. If you can't get your sh!t together, then we may just ask that you are not in the league the next year. We all want to have fun, and it sucks if 1 or 2 people aren't as committed to the next guy in line, or to the troops.
I think we will still have a full league this year, and hopefully everyone comes back. I will give this post about 3-5 days for comment and then I will finalize everything in the league and get everyone the results of the rule updates and pass rules. Then...we can actually have fun talking crap and playing football...and smoking some d@mn fine cigars in the process!!
Also, since Stephen is out, I would like Tony Jarvis to take his place. I can vouch for Tony, so I will send him a PM letting him know some of the "important" things.
Finally, I assure you guys that I can keep everything in order for this league. I don't have room to store sticks, but dagnabit, if I have to, I'll go get a cooler and some beads to make sure everything is taken care of :D
Stephen
08-07-2013, 01:56 PM
Guys, I do feel bad about not being able to participate this season, but unfortunately circumstances simply will not permit me to be a dedicated member of this league, which frankly, it deserves.
Scott, you're the heart and soul of this league. If you leave, it ceases to exist. In short, get the sand out of your vajayjay.:D
Cole, thank you for stepping up and help shoulder the burden of running a far-flung league and no doubt headache filled league. An easy fix to deadbeats is until their league entry is paid, they don't get an invite email to register their team. Set a hard deadline, and if payment isn't received by that date, actively seek to replace them. Sucks, but sometimes you have to do sucky things to weed out deadbeat owners.:2

I think I should be able to store everything. I have a 48qt cooler that is empty, and about 7-10 boveda packs that are all 70%, so I should be able to store all the sticks this year in that.
I am really busy at work today, but tomorrow I should be able to focus on getting everything straightened out for this and I will make a post about everything, AND send a PM with the exact same info as the post that way everyone gets all the info.

ATTENTION: THE DRAFT WILL BE HELD FRIDAY AUGUST 30TH at 8:00PM EST. Please let me know if this doesn’t work, we can still change this.
LEAGUE MEMBERS, Here are the changes (for the better) this season, We have had some discussion online about these, and people have had time to express their opinions. Ultimately, a decision has to be made, and being the new Commissioner, I think these changes are for the better and these are the ones I will implement this year:
***First, the biggest change: QB’s will NO LONGER receive 1 point per completion, last year we had QBs that were basically beating whole teams! Also, QB’s will only receive 4 points per TD, not 6. This should help keep QB rankings in line with RB’s and WR’s.
***Again, this is the only change this year that could have a negative impact on your draft if you think QBs are still the big scorers…THEY ARE NOT!
And now, the rest of the minor changes:
1. Kickers will no longer incur a -1 point deduction for missed FGs over 50 yards
2. The TE position will now be a “Flex” (QB/RB/WR/TE) position, we will start 8 players now. (QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, FLEX, D, Kicker), 6 bench players, and 2 IR spots
I decided to keep the Waiver Wire the same FREE FOR ALL as it has been in the past. Why change it if it has been working…which means (if you are new to the league) you can pick up Waiver’s at ANYTIME during the week after a game has been completed…you don’t have to wait until Tuesday to pick someone up, and there is no 2 day waiting period because there is no order to pick someone up…(i.e. if you want to pick up 5 guys at one time and you are the first one to click “add” on them, you get all 5 guys). SO STAY ON TOP OF IT!
Also, I decided to keep the Defensive position. Again, why change something that works.
Basically everything else is the same…which means, these changes are pretty close to being “set in stone” unless there are huge gripes from someone. This will be sent in a PM to everyone as well as being posted on the thread, so there should be NO REASON someone doesn’t know about the changes.
Thanks guys! :tu
Remember....ITS FOR THE TROOPS!!!

Whatever works the best for the most people...the draft is more fun with everybody there. That being said, we're getting down to the wire so we need feedback on it quick. Sat or Sun the last weekend in Aug. would be the best for me but I can work around whatever.

Alright, to be fair (and because we still have enough time to figure this out....
Here are the Draft dates: PLEASE POST YOUR ANSWER!!!
A.) Sunday August 25th at 8:00PM EST (note, there is still a preseason game for each team after this date.
B.) Friday August 31st at 8:30 PM EST
C.) Tuesday September 3rd at 8:30 PM EST
D.) Wednesday September 4th at 8:30 PM EST
This will not impart on anyone's Labor day plans, and will give everyone a fair shot at trying to get their allotted time slot. (Well, at least I hope it's fair! :tu )

BASIC RULES FOR THE CIGAR PASS:
• First simple rule…Put in more than you take, the pass is intended to seed future passes, and future leagues.
• Get it to the next guy immediately…let us know if you can’t receive the pass, we will jump you to the end if need be, we want this thing MOVING!
• Value for value on smokes. Nothing under $8.00
HARD RULES FOR THE CIGAR PASS
1.) You MUST purchase insurance when shipping the pass box. The box is to go between recipients via Priority Mail, Insured for $499. If insurance is not purchased, and the pass is lost, the sender will be held responsible for replacement cost of the pass contents.
It costs roughly $18.00-$20.00 to ship the box, insured. If anything ever happens that causes someone to find themselves short shipping fees on their week, please let me or one of the group know so we can cover you.
2.) So far as Puts and Takes go...
• If you take a cc, put a cc. If you take an nc, put an nc.
• If a pass participant wishes to forego the nc/nc, cc/cc rule, they may do so, in either direction, but it will require of them a premium. Their replacement stick in a cc for nc or nc for cc trade must be a cigar valued significantly higher than that which he is taking. Another option is that the replacement cigar be a Rare/HTF stick, widely considered more valuable than the take.
• The goal here is for us to create and carry on an absolutely top-notch pass. Please respect that, and replace cigars with premium cigars. That's not to say there's not a place in our lives for lower notch cigars, just please, not in this pass. It's special, and when it arrives on your weekend, it should completely blow your mind (I know it did this in the past).
• In the spirit of part c, it will be considered perfectly acceptable for someone to take more than one cigar to make up the value of their put.
• As with all passes, the value of your puts should always be greater than that of your takes.
• Every time a member receives the pass box, he agrees to add a couple extra premium cigars, above and beyond his puts/takes, to seed this pass for years to come.
• Please post your puts and takes in the Fantasy Football thread so a couple guys can okay them before you ship to the next participant. Your description must be very accurate. (The League Commissioner tracks all puts and takes just in case) If you have time for pics, that'd be best. Being as time is of the essence and our schedule is so aggressive, pics are NOT mandated, but highly encouraged.
• You can take up to seven (7) cigars. If you have a situation where a take equals 2 cigars, you may take more, so long as your put for the 2 cigars is of sufficient value.
3.) If at any point you have a question concerning this pass or its rules please contact one of the Commissioners.
4.) Once the package is received, you MUST get it on it's way within 2 business days. We will not hunt you down and torture you for non-compliance, but know you're letting down a good brother who's really excited.
5.) If your schedule isn't going to work and you're afraid you won't be able to get the pass out immediately when you receive it, just let the guy ahead of you know and he can pass you up. Then let me know and we'll fit you back in when it works and I'll get a new schedule to all the guys. Doing this is not a problem at all, it's my pleasure. If we have to change your spot 20 times, still not a problem. Letting down your brothers is.
6.) Once mailed, please post the shipped date (if it's different from your posting date) & delivery confirmation or tracking number. Let us know what courier you used if not USPS, and DO NOT FORGET INSURANCE!!!
7.) If at some point this pass overfills the box, let me know and we'll figure out what to do. (i.e. Get a bigger box, or remove some of the sticks that seeded the pass…From Scott Shilala last year when the pass was started)
8.) In the box will be single finger bags. Please make sure all cigars are placed in single finger bags and marked with the cigar’s name and year made (if known). There are also other supplies in there, please use them as necessary.
9.) The person (i.e. Cole “The Commissioner) who is keeping track of the pass must be notified of puts/takes. Posting in the Fantasy Football thread is considered notification. A pm to the keeper with a link to your post would be a helpful reminder to him.
10.) The pass will start once all teams are signed on and will run until the end of February, or whatever time makes itself obvious as suitable.
11.) Each round of the pass, I will notify all participants (which is why emails and phone numbers are required if we cannot get a hold of you on CA) that the pass will go around again. You are the ability to “opt” out of any pass round if you so choose, just let me know before we start the round.
12.) The pass will run in the most basic geographic order, starting with Scott Shilala in Streetsboro, Ohio.
chaase321
08-14-2013, 04:34 PM
League Rules (that aren't stated in Yahoo):
• All the player’s names, phone numbers (for contact), email addresses (for contact, if needed only), mailing addresses (for pass purposes) and CA names need to be PM'ed to Mattso300 and me. We need these immediately to start the pass.
• Teams who fold will immediately have manager replaced.
• Don’t be a fool!!!! Dropping a STUD on a bye week will be looked upon with stern dissatisfaction (i.e. future league consideration), reason being, another team could pick them up for nothing, and you just lost your stud and gave another team ANOTHER stud!
• ALL PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED ONLY AFTER ALL ENTRIES ARE PAID!!!! hate to punish the winner, but it's only fair.
Playoff Rules: (i.e. things not stated on Yahoo!)
• The winner (1) of the Loser’s bracket (6 teams) will get a 10’er of sticks from either myself, or sticks from the pass that are duplicates/or not “on par” with the other “choice” sticks (or combination of both).
o I will track the Loser’s bracket on here (as I can't on Yahoo) and let each team know in advance who they play for the two weeks of playoffs. (NOTE: 3 teams will play the final week for the Loser’s championship, that’s just how it works with 6 teams playing in 2 weeks).

Travis, you are not the only one that my screw up is hurting, so I am trying to figure something out that makes it good for all of us.
Scott mentioned that usually around the actual draft date more times open up, so I am going to look into that, and also look into a couple other options.
If I end up being able to get 8 EST (5 PDT) would that be good with you?
I'm also looking into doing an Offline draft, where I do everything manually, but we still participate together (i.e. having a conference call where everyone tracks players picked and I keep track of all the picks for who and what rounds).
I just want to make it fair for everyone. :tu

Also, I wanted everyone to know that I received the pass from Scott this past weekend when I stopped by his place after the Shack herf. I am going to go through the pass most likely on Wednesday and:
-organize it
-check all the sticks to ensure they are not damaged in anyway as they shouldn't be
-take out sticks that Scott used last year to seed the pass (other than the CCs) and send them back to him
-document all the sticks into my handy dandy spreadsheet so everything is tracked
I would like to get the pass order worked out logistically by then as well, so make sure you get me your addresses this week. Hopefully I can get the pass in the mail by Friday/Saturday this week to the first lucky recipient :D

Hey Guys, just wanted to remind everyone that the Draft is coming up this SUNDAY (Aug 25th) at 8:00 PM EST (5:00 PM PST).
Also, not to be that di<k but this was in Scott's first post, and is still the rule:
Buy in will be six premiums ($60.00 minimum value, NC and/or CC) and a sixer (minimum) for the troops, due prior to the first week's kickoff. You all know the drill on sending betting smokes along with your buy-in to save money. Feel free to handle that however you like.
As of today's mail:
I have received:
Mine (Entry and Troops)
Scott Shilala (Entry and Troops)
Scott Sizer (Entry and Troops)
Mark (Entry and Troops)
Travis (Entry and Troops, UPS dropping off 8/23)
Leaves to be paid yet:
Tony
John

I know it's not the first week's kickoff yet, but I just wanted to get the reminder out...I don't want to have to be the AZZ that has to send out the nasty reminders. Also, I actually am really chill, so if you want to make other arraignments (like Coach "Mike" did) that's totally cool with me, just let me know. Communication is the key here :tu

Here's my puts and takes for the pass.
I added a couple extras like we did last year, I read the pass rules just now and I guess we aren't observing that anymore? It doesn't matter, I wanted to get some more cc's in there.
I took the couple liberty caskets only because they take up a lot of space in the box. I had no idea of the value of them. If i should have added a couple more expensive smokes, I'll add them next go-around or put the caskets back. :tu

Did I read right 1 qb, 2rb, 2wr and on QB,RB, WR, or TE? So we can play to QB's?
chaase321
08-25-2013, 05:35 PM
See below Coach. You read correctly, you can essentially start two QBs...just make sure you read what was posted below.

BASIC RULES FOR THE CIGAR PASS:
• First simple rule…Put in more than you take, the pass is intended to seed future passes, and future leagues.
It appears that this rule may not have been as clear as I had thought.
The whole point of this pass is to make each year's fantasy football pass even better...so the rule is that you put in more than you take. Last year, this was interpreted as...put in at least two (2) more premiums than you take. (i.e. if you take 5 sticks, you must put 7 back in)
Thanks gents...and good luck in the draft!

Hey Cole, I second Scott's request. He and I usually hand the pass off in person. It gives us a real good excuse to get together and hang out.
I don't remember if he was before me or after me last year, but that worked great. Actually, he just told me he was before me.
Also, your puts and takes look good to me. Very generous, my man!!! :tu
I never did get any input on my puts and takes, and I'm concerned about the value of those coffins I took. It's very important to me that I put in sticks of equal or higher value, and I'm not sure that I did. Will you guys please let me know? I can easily send a few sticks ahead of the pass to get them in there, or just put them in when it gets back to me. Whatever. Someone just let me know so I can quit fussing about it!!!

FYI, I wanted to let everyone know the specs of the box...
-Today's weight was 6 lbs (5.3 to be exact, but she bumped it to 6 for some reason)
-The box measures 15" long x 11" wide x 11" tall
-It cost me $23 (and some odd cents) to ship it insured from DC to Minnesota on UPS Ground
Just wanted to give everyone the heads up on what you are looking at. If you want to print your labels on USPS, I would use those dimensions and put your weight at 6-6.5 lbs just to be safe. (again, its at 5.3 today)

Make sure you bet through all those sticks you sent in (and more hopefully :D ). Matt and I will keep a running total on the thread for you all so you know where you stand with bets and what has been paid/is owed for the troops.

Soo....what was different about the touchdown that Victor Cruz just caught and the Calvin Johnson incompletion earlier today??? Just thought that, even though it helped my fantasy team and the Vikings, it was a terrible call. The rule makes sense that you have to control the ball to the ground on a touchdown catch...but if you catch the ball then dive towards the end zone and cross the plane that's a touchdown. Rant complete.

I saw the Cruz catch. I just hunted up the Megatron catch.
Cruz had full control of the ball, made a "football move", crossed the plane, and the ground kicked the ball out.
Since he had control the whole time, it was a td when he broke the plane.
Now, in the Calvin video, they said he didn't have control. If you don't have control all the way to the ground, and ALSO retain control once you hit the ground, it's not a td.
At full speed it sure looked like Megatron had all kinds of control, but I'm looking at a grainy video with no replay.
The issue between the two plays is control and what constitutes it.
Cruz definitely had control, Megatron supposedly didn't.
Now, there's sort of a second part to this rule. Or maybe another way of looking at part of it.
A wide receiver must complete the catch after breaking the goal line for a touchdown to count, but a running back doesn't have to complete the run for it to count as a score. He just needs to break the plane.
That goes a step further.
Once a WR has made the catch in the field of play, he's now a runner, and for all intents and purposes (regarding this rule), a running back.
Same thing here. Cruz had control in the field of play, turned into a runner, crossed the plane, play done, td. The ground doesn't come in play.
Calvin just plain didn't have control all the way to and including the ground (again, supposedly cause I can't see it), so his catch isn't affected by this part of the rule at all. It's just an incomplete pass.
Lots of words for an incomplete pass, eh? :)
Hope that helps, Matt!!! :tu

I agree with Matt on this one. Watching it in slow mo, Calvin caught the ball with both hands and dove for the end zone. Pretty much exactly the same as Cruz. The ball bobbled a bit upon touching the ground (after crossing the goal line), but remained in his possession, whereas Cruz completely lost possession of the ball upon contact with ground. As a Vikes fan, I was happy to accept it as an incomplete pass at the time. As a fan of football in general, it was a terrible call. Especially given that the same exact situation was called the opposite way later in the day.

Mike vs. Matt- Mike owes 5
Mike vs. Mark- Mike owes 5
Mike vs. Shilala- Mike owes 5
Mike vs. Scott- Mike owes 5
Mike vs. Cole- Cole owes 5
Mark vs. Tony- Mark owes 5

That's what I come up with too Matt.
And here are the betting balances to date:
Shilala has 125 sticks betting balance
Cole owes 9 sticks
Sofaman has 24 sticks betting balance
Matt has 69 sticks betting balance
Mark has 9 sticks betting balance
Malakai has 35 sticks betting balance
Tony has 21 sticks betting balance
Travis has 2 sticks betting balance
Coach owes 20 sticks
Jarrod has 0 betting balance
Still need entry sticks from:
Matt (Prize entry only)
Jarrod (Prize and Troops)
Coach (Prize and Troops)
Just so everyone knows...when you sent me your entry smokes, I deducted 6 troops sticks from however many you sent to denote as "troops entry" and then used your balance as "betting sticks" So that is how I came up with the above.
Note* Matt, just so you remember, you owed 25 from last year, so that's why your's is at 69 and not 94.
I have an excel spreadsheet if anyone wants to audit me :D :tu

Alright Shilala...looks like we may need to talk this over :D
My bet said "your BEST QB and WR combined score, against my BEST QB and WR combined score"
Well...that means this could go two ways:
1. Your Best Starters
QB (Wilson) 10.98 + WR (Jackson) 42.30 = 53.28
1. My Best Starters
QB (Vick) 41.22 + WR (Jackson) 12.7 = 53.92
I win scenario #1 by the hair on my chinny chin chin
2. You Best Overall (including bench)
QB (Cutler, Bench) 18.50 + WR (Jackson) = 60.8
2. My Best Overall (including bench)
QB (Vick) 41.22 + WR (Decker, bench) 17.70 = 58.92
You win scenario #2 by a few hairs on your chinny chin chin
So...since I didn't clarify as to starters or not when saying "best"...I would have to say, I lost to you yet again :sl

I'll take all comers, bet-wise.
Mark, I'll bet you 10 sticks and spot you 11 points. That's roughly the difference in the week's projection, so we'll have an even slate. Anyone who wouldn't cover that bet needs to rush in for a mammogram.
On other bets, I really dig bizarre stuff. Cole's bet last week was cool. Heck, we could pick any two kickers in the league and highest combined score wins. Anything, and I mean, ANYTHING is cool with me. The more bizarre the better. :D

I sure hope he won't leave it without a signature, not with insurance on it.
That'd be a crazy silly risk for Tony to take.
On the other hand, they'll deliver it to a neighbor that's home. I did UPS for awhile and we delivered Dell computers every single day. They all needed signature release. We left lots and lots at the old lady's house next door and left a note with the folks that bought it.
Leaving them outside for any reason, even a pre-sign, was not an option, even though UPS allows you to presign.
There's only 3 things we couldn't leave that over-rode the presign. Jewelry, Guns, and computers. Crazy, huh?

Deal. :tu
Never saw it, Mark. Send me a pm, will ya?
I haven't made a bet one over there, so I'll probably say no, but I'll take your bet here.
Edit:
I looked for your bet at the Yahoo league page and didn't find anything.
Then I looked for our FB thread here and couldn't find the thread.
I have now given up. Go ahead and send me a pm, will ya? You do realize you're kicking my ass royally, right? :lr
Ok, next time I'll PM you instead of bumping a thread from 5 months ago:r
I wouldn't expect you to take the bet now with the :sl you're getting. There's plenty of time left for a comeback though.

Everything looks great with the exception of the mow puro. Not sure if it meets the pass criteria. I love those things but iirc they are only about 4 bucks a pop.

Thanks for the heads up Matt.
Guys, I told Tony last night, because no one had responded yet, that his puts and takes were good to go. He is heading to drop the package off now, and then leaving town on a flight this morning and won't be back until Sunday evening.
He wanted to be proactive and get the pass into the mail for the next person, so when I looked at it, I thought it looked good...so that being said, I'll take the MOW puro (one of his extra sticks) when the pass comes to me and replace it with a different stick. But the rest looks good to me if it's cool with everyone else.

I think that he met our criteria with the other 2 extras Cole. You shouldn't have to replace the MOW with a premium. Perhaps you should just nab it when the box gets to you as a bonus for running the league.

Scott, I'll bet you this week....here's the bet:
10 Troop Sticks
-I bet that the NFC will throw more interceptions this week than the AFC throws this week.
Even when I try to favor myself in a bet...it seems I still have a chance to lose! :r :r Prior to week 3, the NFC had 35 int's thrown, AFC had 25.
Here is where the bet stands before tonight's game between Denver and Oakland (both AFC teams):
-NFC teams have thrown 16 int's this week...no games left
-AFC teams have thrown 14 int's this week...2 teams play tonight
So I need this game to have 1 total int or less for me to finally win a legit bet against you!!! I'm pretty sure I'll be paying up yet again :gary

Matt, check this...
Here is what I have for current Troops Sticks balances based on what was sent in and what has been bet so far:
Shilala, balance of 95 sticks (after entry had 125 sticks for betting)
Chaase321, owes 9 sticks (after entry had 6 sticks for betting)
Sofaman, balance of 24 sticks (after entry had 24 sticks for betting)
Mattso3000, balance of 59 sticks (after entry and prior year bal had 69 sticks for betting)
mkarnold1, owes 1 stick (after entry had 14 sticks for betting)
malakai, balance of 35 sticks (after entry had 35 sticks for betting)
Tjarv, balance of 21 sticks (after entry had 21 sticks for betting)
Beeradvocate, balance of 2 sticks (after entry had 2 sticks for betting)
Coach_Deg, owes 20 sticks (also owes 6 entry)
JenksAnejo, balance of 0 sticks (also owes 6 entry)
So based on me taking out the required 6 entry troop sticks from what everyone sent in, their original betting balance is in " ( ) " and based on what I have been following from the bets in the thread, these should be the betting balances left. Just so everyone knows where they stand! :D
by the way....get to betting people!!! Scott is always up for a bet, and as you can see...Goliath can be taken down by David! :r I don't want to send anyone sticks back, so get through your betting balances...and preferably, bet more so you can send me more! We need to make this a record year, and get to like 600 sticks for the troops! :D :tu

I'll take TJarv and chaase
Scott: Stabbingcactii, Tjarv, chaase
Matt: Sofaman, TDsandbeer
I think I only get one pick here, if it's gonna work out so I get last pick. So I'll still take Tjarv. If you don't want chaase with your pick, that'll be my next pick.

Okay, I think I figured out exactly what you meant now, brother.
Scott: Stabbingcactii, Tjarv
Matt: Sofaman, TDsandbeer
To make this easier yet, here's my draft priority order so you can finish this up next time you see it.
chaase
SmokinJenks
Tampa torpedoes
Grain Belt
I'm also assuming we can't pick our own teams, cause I'd have picked me or you first.
If you want, we can add our teams to our list of teams. Or I can take you and you can take my team. Or whatever. Just so all 10 teams are represented in our two teams, ya know? Or not, that's fine, too.

If someone wants to bet a fiver of cc's on a personal bet, I'm all about that. :tu
Being this is for the troops, let's say we each have to donate a fiver of troop sticks in order to play.
I'm thinking we can each make up a 4 player team for the week and go head to head. QB/WR/RB/TE. No draft, just pick your players, all are available. If both of us pick the same player for a position, it'll be a wash, so it doesn't matter.
The odds of us picking the same 4 players is almost nil, so I'm not concerned about that.
I think that'd be a pretty badass game right there.

Other than that, my records match yours. :tu
Great job betting guys!!!! Oh, and Shilala, Let's do the bet this week...my goodies from the island got here on Saturday! :D
So the bet is, the best 4 player team: QB, WR, RB, TE for a 5'er of CCs, and we each donate a 5'er to the troops.
I'll get my players picked this week.
Mattso3000

Throwing a new twist in this week...
Betting the field again. 5 troop sticks against everyone, only this time you all can buy points. If you want to "take" the bet (everyone is in for 0 sticks straight up already) every stick you bet buys you a point. i.e. if you bet a troop fiver, you get 5 points. So if you put 15 troop sticks on the line and I win by 12...I still lose. Who wants in?

Not sure if I see anything that would be a fair trade for the Behike, other than that it looks great. Last I checked that is about a $40 cigar. I would say it would take a higher end cigar with some decent age on it to warrant that take. Just my opinion, hopefully others will chime in here.
