Love or Hate?
For me as I delve deeper into the hobby I find more and more I like thinner ring gauges. Right now I am waiting for some Mi Dominicana Lanceros , Oliva Serie V lanceros , and some Padron Lanceros to come in. I got 2 boxes of each.
Had the Serie V before.
Anything Padron is good with me so I am almost 100% postitive I will love the lanceros.
The Mi Dominicana is going to be new to me but based on indie reviews im sure I will like them.
So tell me about your good / bad experiences with the Lancero Size?

Most of the best NCs I have smoked in the last few years have been lanceros.
Love the CC ones as well.
Just had a Cohiba Lancero last night. Like a little slice of heaven :tu

The Cain F lancero and the Cain Daytona lancero are amazing cigars. I've had 3-4 padrons and I was really impressed. The Tats are amazing as well.

When I smoked NCs I used to seek out Lanceros before any other vitola.
With CCs I love lanceros but there are far less to choose from (Current production) and they are typically expensive, but I do love them.

Love 'em...just have to slow down with them though. They can get hot really quick. Take your time with them.

I'll go against the grain a bit and say while I prefer a smaller ring gauge I like the corona size more... :lr
Lanceros are good... Coronas are good... Smoke what ya like... :tu more importantly... like what you smoke... :tu

Don't get why these things aren't more popular in the production sense. I know lots of us here love them so I could only imagine the rest of the smokers do, too. Used to be some fantastic CC lanceros, but they're slowly fading...
Had a Room 101 Daruma Mutante last night that was out of this world.

This is particularly a problem if you are used to smoking larger ring gauges.
If I remember to slow down then a lancero is a great cigar. However, since I suffer CRS sometimes I forget to slow down...

The further along I get in this trip, the smaller the ring gauge gets as my favorites. Lanceros figure prominently in the mix.

I have that problem. When I first started smoking I thought bigger must be better so I was always smoking the bigger ring gauges. So even though that was years ago I still have to tell myself to slow the heck down when smoking a lancero or corona.
As to the question of the thread, I'm with Rob: I do like lanceros but prefer a corona.

I just started getting into them more, especially since Scotty set me up :tu
I dig them but tend to smoke them too fast. Need to treat them like my pipes I guess.

And what lanceros do you all recommend I try then?
I also have a couple boxes of the Cain F lanceros sleeping in the bottom of my humi , I have one every once in awhile to see how they are doing. But im gonna have to get some more if I keep doing that. But at 5.50 a stick I don't care. They are some of my faves for sure.
Cain F Lanceros are amazing. I am partial to the Room 101 Daruma Lancero and I just picked up some Kristoff Maduro Lancero's to try.

Illusione Holy Lances were one of my favorites, but for some reason I haven't smoked one in a while. Time to remedy that situation tonight!

One of my first lanceros/thin ring gauge cigars were a la Gloria MDO 3 and a hoyo du gourmet. Both were amazing cigars! Since then I have really loved that size of cigar. Although in my heart, corona is the best size for me personally.

I also love the Lancero size. I had an Oliva Serie V Maduro Lancero that was excellent, and I also had a Casa Torano Maduro Lancero that really impressed me. I’m always on the lookout for this size, especially in a Maduro wrapper :dr

I started getting into Lanceros after I started to get into smoking petite cigars. I used to be a big ring junkie, but found it took too long to smoke. So I switched to petite coronas and such. Later on I noticed that I liked my favorite cigars even more in the smaller size so I started experimenting with Lanceros and just fell in love.
In my opinion, smaller ring is almost always better.

I've started buying them any time I see them. This price point on such a good cigar is hard to find. I need to see if I can find some more.

Agreed... I would also say the Daytona Lancero would be good to mix in with em so you have some variance of taste...

I've been finding that myths around draw issues seem to be mostly just that. Myths.
Sure once in awhile I find the odd one that doesn't draw well. But that's the same with any hand rolled cigar. More and more I find the Quality Control on NC's seems to be far superior to that of CC's.
What's your experience guys?

Lanceros generally smoke better compared to thicker ring gauge cigars. Perhaps it's the rollers are better than tend to the Lanceros.

Very hard to draw a definitive conclusion. I might agree with "superior". But far superior. Nope.

They are and they are fantabulous. The blue lanceros made for Puff N Stuff in '07 are out of this world right now.

In my experience, I would say QC is just slightly better on the nc side. Depends on the brand.

That's not the ideal cigar to renew one's faith in CC's, if that's what you are after...

Lanceros suck. I love Coronas. Lanceros require too much caution and babysitting. I like to enjoy my cigar not worry that it will go out or get hot in the blink of an eye. Plus men look like sissies smoking them. Just my opinions.

This past week I discovered the LFD Air Bender Villano. This is one lancero worth searching for. In the past I have tried the Oliva V Lancero but was disappointed in it having a bitter taste. I definitely prefer the smaller ring gauges over the big stinkies.

Tatuaje Especiales are highly recommended. La Flor's LG Lanceros are also quite nice. I'm partial to the Lancero in the Davidoff Millenium Blend as well. Enjoyed the LADC's and the San Cristobal from the sampler 10 pack too.
While the Cohiba Lancero, Trinidad Fundadore and Monte Especiale can all be very good, the Partagas Serie du Connaisseur No. 1, while more accurately a delicados or long panatela, is one of my favorite non-domestics in this style, shame they've been discontinued.
All in all it seems there are many more marcas available in this vitola lately than in years past. Highly recommend trying a few if you haven't...

As far as ccs, hands down it would have to be ERM GDE. Like a few has mentioned, Partagas SdC #1 are damn good too.

I've been smoking a lot of those the past few months. I've tried some of the other sizes, but the lances are by far the best of that line IMO.
