View Full Version : Preferred Humidity Level In Wineador?

Have my new wineador up and running like a champ and am in the process of tweaking the humidity level up to the desired level. At present, have it at 63% / 66 deg., which is pretty good for here in hot & humid Central, FL. I kept my wooden humidors at 65-68%, but liked the cigars closer to the 65.
What does everyone here prefer to keep their sticks at (humidity-wise) in their wineadors?

I don't have a wineador, but my coolidor is kept between 62-65%. I seem to get the best burn (IMHO) with those levels.

Preferred humidity is independent of the storage medium. Doesn't matter if it's a wineador, coolerdor, desk top, end table, cabinet, tower etc.
I prefer 60-63%

61/62 RH & 68 degrees (CCs only in the wineador)
I prefer 63-65%
That is my preferred level as well. I do have a smaller hard plastic suitcase like one that holds 35-50 that I keep closer to 68% - 70% as when I buy some sticks across the border in WI they have a tendency to be on the dryer side so it brings them back a little quicker.

Yeah, I liked the way my cigars smoked but decided to say WTF and just let the Rh settle. :sh

To me, all cigar humidity is relative.

Being a noob, I had a small desktop humi and used 72% bole packets, after reading through a lot of threads here and seeing quite a few respected and very knowledgeable people (peter and tom to start with) posting that their preferred humidity was about 61 - 62%.
I decided to go with that and as I didn't have very many cigars to start with, the change wasn't a concern but as the collection has grown I went with the beads and keep them right at about 62% and I'll be the first to admit they smoke much better.
To me, all cigar humidity is relative.

Moved all of my sticks into the new home...humidity settled at 67% at 66 deg. after 24 hours. Will wait and see how all goes after a week or so. Very pleased with how well this set-up has come out.

For me, 72% at 60 degrees F and all Nicaraguan cigars. I think they taste best at that humidity and I also think they burn best. At lower humidity, I get wrappers to unravel or just be plain fragile. It is important to note this is at 60 degrees F. Since humidity is relative humidity (RH), as the temperature drops, the RH drops as well. I find that I need it more humid at the lower temperatures in order to not have dry cigar problems.
I disagree that humidity is the same in all circumstances since it's relative to temperature. If you have a room temperature humidor and your ambient temperature is 75 degrees F, you should keep it at a lower RH like 65%.
That's my two cents.
