My son is studying meteorology at IU and has been an amateur storm chaser since high school days. I used to be his driver and saw some cool stuff. Anyway, he's tracking some stuff that shows a very good chance of tornados in Southern IL this afternoon. Assuming his equipment works well, he will be streaming his chase around 3:30PM CT this afternoon. Here's the link if you want to follow the chase:

I think that would be an awesome job....a bit dangerous, but you would get to see some really cool events. I'm a bit jealous of your son today, Scott.

Tell Nate to stay safe. I hope he has a great time and gets some great data and footage. But tell him that safety is paramount.

I am a little worried as I have always been his driver. Since he's leaving out of Bloomington and I have work to do today, he has a friend driving for him. I do know when we chased in years past, he always had escape routes planned out and even told me which way to park the car. He's pretty cautious about his chasing, so I think he'll stay safe.

Well, I guess it's better to chase storms than to have storms chase you. :D

Best of luck to him, in all ways.

Scott, I can't get it up.
Seriously.:D

Do you know any app for iPad that will stream it?
Tried Safari, Puffin and Skyfire with no luck.

Nate's website is having issues due to the traffic.

You can go to the link below and find his feed in IL:

http://tvnweather.com/live

He says he will be getting into some severe stuff in about a half hour.

Not quite on the ground but Nate did get this:

He'll have better pics on his real camera. I'll post when he gets them online.

That takes some balls. You would never see me anywhere near a funnel cloud or an actual tornado, unless it was accidental. I did see a waterspout once over the Gulf of Mexico once when I was near Fort Pickens, Gulf Islands Nat. Seashore in the FL Panhandle. I just about pi**ed my pants.... :r
