Has anyone tried out the new Ditka cigars? Apparently, there are three types and they are in neat little coffins. My buddy said he tried them all today and they were all in the $8.50-$10 price range. He said they were pretty stellar smokes for the price.

Cigar. com has them for sale.

Ah, sorry then!

Sarcasm is our first language. English is second. ;)

You'll find most inquiries about smokes are met with, "pick a couple and let us know what you think." :D

Sometimes I read zero reviews, just buy a couple and make up my own mind. If I bought cigars based on reviews, I would have a humidor full of Tatuajes. ;)

Smoked a few of the old blend Ditka cigars....they were crap. :2

Ah, sorry then!

No nee to be sorry. You just have to understand the undercurrent and dynamic going on. It takes some people a while. Icehog is not a big fan of Tatuaje (if you hadn't noticed) and a number of other non-Cuban cigars.

He (and most of us) believe that people need to make their own opinion about what cigars they like.

Most of us have a few others who have similar tastes to ours whom we trust. When one of those friends says that they like a cigar, that will tend to be enough to get us to try one and make our own opinion about a particular cigar.

I have a couple guys on this board whose tastes are similar to mine, if they speak positively about a new cigar they enjoy, I will seriously considering trying it. There are a few others who, when they like a new cigar, I will ask what it is they like about it - their tastes have some things in common with mine, and other things that are not.

Of course, when certain other people rave about a cigar, I am very reluctant to try it --- AND --- if they pan a cigar, that might be just enough incentive to get me TO try it.

When all that I have written above is said and done though, ultimately, everybody's palate is unique. Each of us has to smoke what keeps us happy. And the only way to know that is to try different cigars and go from there.

This is good insight from Todd....over time, you will find a couple of these people who seem to have a palate very close to yours, and you will put a bit more credence into their recommendations over others'. :tu

Actually, this below is often more true than some people realize. There are a couple guys on this board, when they say they didn't really like a cigar, I am very tempted to go out and get a couple just to try.

Of course, when certain other people rave about a cigar, I am very reluctant to try it --- AND --- if they pan a cigar, that might be just enough incentive to get me TO try it.

Sitting with the Queen having tea,
She asked, "Do you fart when you pee?"
I thought for a bit,
And asked, "Do you belch when you sh!t?".
And thought that was quite clever of me.
