Whether a fan or a hater, this is neat to see when an almost impossible record is close to being broken.
This team is on all cylinders right now, just a few games away from the playoffs.

6 to tie it, 7 to break it.
Who thinks they will pull it off?

They have a couple of though ones coming up. I wouldn't be surprised either way. They are definitely the best team in the NBA. By far.

Well, they are all that. A real dream team. I don't think my Celtics have a chance.

Celtics should have beat them and that's with a depleted team, I'm not impressed when the highest paid players in history "win", they have no excuse not to win ... ever considering their salaries. The only thing larger is their egos.

Hi. Most "professional athletes" are overpaid. I'm rooting for the Tigers

If they beat the Spurs, I think they have a shot. I do know one thing, I'm sick of hearing about it on ESPN non stop. :bh :bh

Some say changing the channel could reduce stress.

@ San Antonio is the only game that should challenge them. If they win that, they'll get the record. That won't be easy. They'd probably win out, given the schedule, if they don't start resting players for the playoffs, which I expect they'll do. I just looked at the schedule and am amazed at how many bad teams there are in the NBA this year. You can obviously only play the games on the schedule, but I'm with those that say that the now-standing record is more impressive than anything these guys have done based on the quality of the competition back then.

THe worst team in any league can beat the best team on a given day, that's why they play the games.

I am hoping they don't beat the record, because the early 70's Lakers were my favorite NBA team, and because, as Carlos would say I am a "hater". :D

Won't beat the spurs

And Lebron. That dude is massive.

Better than Tebow mania with Skip Bayless

March Madness anyone?
I hope they don't get it. I'm not a big Basketball fan, but I hate teams that are winning Championships with Money... Like the Yankees, etc. I'm glad the Lakers are struggling, too.

if so many people hate basketball, then why post in a basketball thread? lol

anywho.. if the Heat can get by the bulls (in Chi) and the spurs (in SA), id say they will be golden... has anybody watched them play lately? ive watched mostly all of their games this streak and they play with as much cohesion as the 80's Lakers.. They are just pounding teams.. id say they have ZERO shot of NOT winning another ring this year unless LeBron gets hurt bad.. This team is deep, motivated, and the most skillful in the league.. its rediculous how they are capable of turning it on at any given time..

i was just speaking in generalities.. nobody specific.. i am a huge basketball fan, but people seem to write off basketball lately.. I hate soccer, but i dont go downplay soccer in soccer threads.. lol

I got ya Ron. I didn't mean to come across like that, if I did. I meant I don't like Basketball all that much, so I don't know much about it. If ESPN didn't report the Heat were possibly gonna break a record, I wouldn't have known. lol

NeuRon

lol.. its all good.. at least you admit it, hehe...

i guess its because i grew up watching my father play basketball and was always trying to be like him, and then play him, and then beat him.. now i gotta let him win.. lol

i actually have been reinvigorated by the game in the past few years watching players like lebron and durant, etc.. the game has changed so much... centers are basically nonexistent

I love the "they bought the championship" discussion.
If a team has money and wants to spend it for the best players, what's wrong with that? The ones that don't are generally not very successful. That is just the nature if the beast.
This argument reminds me of a motto to live by:
"It's not wether you win or lose, it's how you played the game".
That was said by the loser. The winner was celebrating.

Winning teams will always be hated by masses outside the market they play in.
Add the Heat to:
NY Yankees
Chicago Bulls
LA Lakers
Boston Celtics
New England Patriots
And the list goes on.

As Tom said, any team can beat them on the right night, under the right situation. This record is by far not a done deal but as a South Florida resident, sure is fun to watch.

Agreed. Add the dodgers to that list too. They have the money and are now spending it

Ron...that doesn't always work. Take my Mets for example...the spend tons of money...just not wisely. :bh :bh

No doubt doesn't always work.
Look at the top three spenders in baseball last year (Yankees, Phillies and Boston).
However, while spending a lot doesn't guarantee wins, definitely NOT spending it has a higher probability of losing.

I think the problem is... well most people just hate Lebron :r

Hell I was born in Miami Beach and grew up / lived in Florida till I was 17 and I still can't even pretend to like them.

(go celtics *cough*)

I actually see alot of people turning the corner on LeBron now. You gotta respect the guy. He is just a marvel of modern athletics.

Heat are a second half team. Let's see if Chicago can shut them down in the second half.
