I'm trying to stock up on boxes so I can justify starting a coolidor (already have two 150 counts humidors) and I always see box after box of Torano cigars selling on the devil site for cheap. I don't know much about them which lines are worth looking into?

I think Toranos taste like dirt (not earthy.....dirt). But someone must like 'em if they keep selling.

Well, I think I'll try and find something better. Just snagged a box of Perdomo 10th Anny Maduros for a good price so that's a good start.

I would say you are MUCH better off with some Perdomo. :tu
Exodus '59 Gold is like smoking a dark chocolate bar.
Virtuoso is good, but odd. The flavor profile is dominated by oak. Yeah, oak.
Noventa '90, been a long time since I've had one of these, but opus x-ish comes to mind.
Can't comment too much on the others, a few I've had, some I haven't, don't really remember all of them at this point.

The first Torano cigar, a Virtuoso, traumatized me and not tried one since.

Buying boxes based upon other's opinions and to justify buying a cooler is just plain silly. :bh
Buy singles or fivers to try. And then formulate your own opinions. :sh
If you continue to buy boxes in this manner you will end up with a lot of sale threads or cigars for the troops. :2

Ha! Looks like I made the right choice. I've had a few of those Perdomo 10th anny maduros I got and liked them a lot and couldn't beat the price. Thanks for the info on the Toranos though fellas!

I'm mostly buying boxes of cigars I've already had and liked a lot to increase my collection/habit. Just was wondering about the Toranos because they're always so cheap. Thanks for your concern though.

The Exodus 89 is a good medium smoke. Buy a sampler and try several different ones!

Great, now I need to try an Exodus '59 Gold. Thanks a lot, Adam. :r

I cannot concur more heartily with a post. This is absolutely true. When you buy a box, make sure it is a cigar you know that you like.

You're going to end up with a pile of boxes in a few months. You're right its your money. But tastes will change and without a doubt a cigar you like today will be sitting in your cooler gathering dust in a year. But no doubt the troop supporters will be very happy. :2

So basically you're just against buying boxes in general?:sh

I really like the exodus 59 gold. The Signature is good too with nice coffee note. Try a fiver of each they're relatively cheap. And if you Iike to have a cheap cigar for friends who want to try a cigar for the first time the casa torano natural is mild and creamy and won't hurt them like something stronger might.

The Exodus 1959 is a good smoke. The Novento is pretty decent. Signatures smoked pretty well, too. Not much to toot about with he other.

I think what Bob is trying to say is that you should buy boxes based on what you like, not blindly based on what someone else likes or recommends. If someone likes and recommends a cigar, and it sounds interesting to you, don't buy a box, start with a few singles at your B&M or a 5'er. Blindly committing to a whole box could easily leave you with a lot of cigars that you don't like enough to keep.

Not at all. I have 75-100 boxes in my coolers and Vinotemps. What I said was buying boxes based upon another smokers tastes or to fill a cooler is not a good idea. You will find countless threads here from people whose tastes have changed over the course of a year or so and have boxes to sell.
If you've only been back in the "game" for six months after taking five years off, there are hundreds of new blends to try. :2

I understand what he is trying to say. In my response, I said I have been buying boxes of cigars I've tried and liked. I was curious about the Toranos because they are always selling for so cheap and just wanted to opinions. Not trying to ruffle any feathers.....

Exactly. Conversely, I would also not give up on a cigar based upon someone else's opinion or a single smoke. We all have different palates, that is why there are thousands of cigars out there. :sh

Then why did you ask?

Bob, I honestly appreciate what you said, I was just trying to explain that my plan wasn't to just go buy random boxes.....My post did come off sounding that way. I just wanted some opinions.

Right when I first started (just over a year ago) I bought a bunch of these silver and gold Exodus because I like the couple I sampled from the devil site. Now I don't like the taste as much or the draw. They are great cigars to give to people new to cigars though. I give these to buddies for poker nights and they go over great.:2

I got some Torano samplers when I first started smoking, I never had one good enough to buy again. I felt the same way about Alec Bradley until recently when my wife bought me one I liked. I've also never found a Rocky Patel I enjoyed very much, but I'm sure one is out there, I just gave up after 4 or 5.
I don't think it's a terrible idea to buy a box of reasonably well reviewed cigars you haven't tried if you are familiar with the brand and can get them on the cheap, but probably not Toranos.

Only one I've had is the Exodus 59 and I really liked it.
Exodus 1959 50 years are tasty. Make sure it's the 50 year though!
I'm with oooo35980. Cbid routinely has Torano samplers that go for less than 3 bucks per. No harm trying them. I went through a number of Torano samplers a few years ago. Never had a bad Torano. Never had a memorable one, either. Certainly never considered buying a box of any one.
