View Full Version : How long would your stash last?

sevans105

So, in evaluating my pile, I realized that I have more than a couple cigars. So, I was trying to figure out how long my stash would last if I never bought another cigar and I smoked at the same rate.

Rough guess....16 1/2 years. Kinda ridiculous.

How about you? Weeks? Months? Years? To the third and fourth generation?

If it was just me smoking, well over 10 years or more.

Problem is, I like to gift lots of cigars to my friends.

About 2 or 3 weeks here... Envious of your stockpile Scott... :tu

If I didn't gift any, and smoked at my present rate, a little over three years.

Eeek!

Not if you knew the quality...I got way too carried away on cbid a couple years ago and bought everything I could under 2 bucks. I've farmed a bunch of them out in troop support, but I need to send a couple hundred more. But then I'd have empty shelves, and empty humidor shelves are sad humidor shelves...and I can't afford to re-fill then with the good stuff yet. ;)

Probably about a year now that winter is here and my sessions are farther apart.

I smoke 2-3 per week during the summer and almost none during the winter. Mine would last til I'm about 88 or 40 years.

Now that I have cut back to an average of 2 a day, my stash would last just over 2 years if I didn't give any away (not gonna happen:ss).

Maybe a year. I guess I'm fixing to find out. I've frozen purchases for awhile (yeah, right, says the devil on my shoulder).

At the rate I smoke and with winters, mine would last 3-5 years.

jkim05

I have more cigars than I will ever smoke in my lifetime, possibly even multiple lifetimes unless I start drastically increasing my intake.

I'm gonna guess about 2 years. Just depends how cold the winters are here.

Maybe 1.5 years if I cut back a bit.

I was at about 20 years but I've sold off many of my extra boxes so I would say I'm down to about 6 years.

Like Tom, I like to gift cigars.
I don't smoke a lot. 1-2 days a week. 2-5 cigars a week.

A few years for me.

Sat down and did the math on this a few weeks ago...as the little missus was telling me I had enough sticks to last me for 20 years. Actual count, at smoking 5-7 a week came out to 11.5 years. I'd better get to buying some more. :D

may outlive my stash if i stop buying now...not gonna happen tho...buying cigars is almost as much fun as smoking.

Probably about 3 years based on my 2-4/week. Coming to 1 year in the habit/collecting I don't know whether that statistic is encouraging or depressing...

I don't what to look back and think about how much I've spent this year.

I mean invested :D

Well hey if you got some keepers to offload, send me a pm haha ;-)

Personally, if I don't restock before the Election, I'll be smoking my "Don't smoke these, let them age" stash. So that's what.. 11 days and counting? Jesus, ticking time bomb!

This is really eye opening, I didn't know some of you had THAT many.

If I smoked one a day, mine would last... 20 days. Money isn't wrong, but it's not right enough to spend a lot of money of what my Wife considers a hobby (She's coming around since she started smoking), and my consideration of a life style. Jesus, I feel like a whipped puppy.

It was eye opening for me too. I knew I had quite a few, but it really opened my eyes to just how many. Saying I have a couple hundred or even a thousand (two?) cigars is one thing. Calculating the time involved is another.

I think the biggest thing is the realization that I can be more free with my cigars. I will never smoke all of these. I know that I will buy more, therefore the only ones I really need to hang on to are ones that I really enjoy. No need to have a tray full of Gurkas or the tray of low end Rocky Patels. No reason to hang on to the house brands I never reach for. Time to thin the herd and get down to the good stuff.

Yep following these rules (1/day most of the year) probably 15-17 years at my rate. Even more if I have the usual 2 per week instead of 5...

I'm looking at about 2-3 years in my stockpile. I do gift some smokes, but my friends also sponsor me some smokes as well.
I smoke 2-3 per week, a little more in the summer but that is a good average.

Chip, sorry to hear you might be stepping away for awhile, hope you stay active on the site.

I would have to guess around 12 to 15 years. Sometimes I chain smoke for days but then
there are times when I won't touch one for a week or two.

Glad to see that there are many more around that have been planning for the future, LOL

I smoke a lot more during the cool months here since I don't have to go anywhere to smoke.

So figure 8 a week during the winter and 5 during the summer. I'd say I have a good 5 years at current rate. But if I knew I couldn't buy any more I'd slow it down.

At my current unemployed rate of 1 a day, my stash would last about 3 months. At my usual rate, it'd be about twice that long.
However, since I have CCs destined to age, this could not happen.

Why quit completely? It doesn't take hardly any effort to maintain a small humidor, and it's not like cigars go "bad" sitting around. I probably smoke less often than almost anyone here, hence the length of time my cigars will last, but I still keep my cigars around. Unless I'm forced to quit forever for some as of now unknown situation, I'll keep my cigars around, no matter how rarely I smoke.

If it was just me smoking my cigars, I'd never finish them before I met my Maker.
I don't smoke a lot, I gift a lot more than I smoke. I seldom meet a guy who doesn't smile at their first cuban cigar, and I love throwing guys down the slope by sending them off with a gob of smokes.
Conversely, it never gets old being on the other end of that scenario, watching how happy it makes other guys to share, or being gifted a cigar I've been excited about.
I can't imagine being without cigars even if I never smoked another one. I'd miss it.

Not long. I probably only smoke 3-5 per month in the winter and 10 per month in the summer. Priorities have changed. I used to keep 200-300 cigars on hand, or at least try to.

Not to get overly personal but I've become more active in my local church. Shortly thereafter I learned that the pastor was going without pay at times. His salary is minimal to begin with, so I know this had to be a burden. Yet, he never let on. I found out from one of the deacons. Anyway, God laid it on my heart that I should be doing my share. Since I started to, money has been tight but we're doing fine. I've never been happier in my life all things considered. Good news is, I got a raise at work today. Hopefully it'll make things a little easier and will put some cigar purchases back into the mix.

I smoke 2 - 4 a day. About 25 days. Probably less since EPIC's coming up and that's basically 48 hours of almost non-stop smoking. But I've never kept a lot of sticks around.

Jamie.... I'm wounded to the core:r

Ok, maybe I have more than a weeks worth. After all, I'm not smoking anything until my gums heal from the extraction. So it could be as much as three or four weeks. Especially if I send a few extras to people that need some extras:banger

When I get home Sunday, I'll pull out a few to put in the troop auction, them for sure, I'll be down a week or two.

Probably 20 years. And I don't have a lot of cigars. The problem is finding time to smoke them. This is also after slimming down my selection greatly. My humidor is mostly smokes that I like, not smokes that I haven't tried.
