I've been looking at lots of cigar signs, logos, old cigar art, etc.
I'm trying to find something I like for my first cigar sign making project.
I kind of like this old Partagas sign (http://www.absolutecigars.com/partagas-cigar-sign.html), but I'm not at all married to that idea.
I wanted to get some input from you guys to see what you might like. Anything will help, beit pictures, ideas, or just adding to someone else's idea.
That is a cool pic. I do like the "Old School" looking style. Maybe something classic.

Scott,
you may have already done this but if not, search cigar signs on E #ay....lot of cool looking signs. Or hell just let that wild imagination of yours loose and see what happens :D

I've got some ideas for some simple stuff, Joe. Some not-so-simple stuff, too. It's not likely I'll hang anything right now, so I want to make stuff you guys would like. :)

I have always been a fan of Ralph Steadman's artwork... If you made any signs that were similar to his style and are reasonably priced, I'd by them for my man cave... :tu

Roxy.....that would be cool. I really like that Partagas sign too. Ideas, ideas. Something to do during the long winter. Time to buy a router!

Thanks for the help, Gentlemen!!!
I can certainly use some more input.
Here's my router, Scott. It makes making things easy, it's the software that's mental torture. :D

Scott, probably sure it's not very cigar themed and more on the complicated side, but I'd love to see something Art Nevou style. I'd hang that any day

SWEEEEET! I know I would have ZERO ability to run that thing, but I'm still jealous. I'm all excited because a guy has a Shopsmith up for sale for 150 bucks. It's an older one, but I've been dying to get a lathe. Having the other capabilities would be pure gravy. I'm second in line..if the other buyer backs out, I'll have it tonight!
The software might be a pain, but the ability to reproduce - perfectly - is fantastic.

If you make a good looking sign let us see and I might have to talk you into making another for my cave... :tu

I modeled a Partagas sign. I'm going to make one to see how it turns out. The model is real small, 11" x 6" on 3/4" stock. If I'm happy with it, I might make a big one.
I don't paint, it's not in my arsenal, so I figured I'd do the sign in cherry or oak or whatever looks nice and then stain and poly it.
Anyways, here's the model...

I made the sign with inspiration from this pic. I had to wing the border, but I think it's pretty close. I used a font that would lend itself to routing a little better than the original, but it's almost exactly the same.
