View Full Version : My Weight Loss

I figured I would pop in here and share my good news. On 7/5 of this year, I was 6'5" and I weighed 342 pounds. I decided to do the Take Shape for Life plan. As of 9/5 (2 months) I am down to 290 for a total loss of 52 pounds :banger

I did so well with my weight loss that I was invited to become a health coach with Take Shape for Life. I now have 8 clients under me and they are losing weight as well. It feels great to be able to help others as well. I cannot wait to get to my goal weight. :)

Congrats on your success! A couple years ago I tried the medifast diet on and off for about a year (I'm assuming, based on the web site, that this diet is the same as medifast). I didn't have much success and, for the price, I thought the food was pretty lacking. All they seemed to have at the time were soups , shakes and powdered eggs. Has the food gotten any more tolerable?

I didn't have much success and, for the price, I thought the food was pretty lacking. All they seemed to have at the time were soups , shakes and powdered eggs. Has the food gotten any more tolerable?

The problem is that you did Medifast. I am doing Take Shape for Life which uses Medifast products. With Take Shape for Life you get a free health coach which holds you accountable (I have a coach, and I am currently coaching clients under me). It costs the same as if you would have signed up with Medifast. Medifast improved their products greatly. They also have new foods. I am the pickiest eater in the world and I absolutely love the food. My mom and dad are also on the plan and they love everything. On day 4 and day 10 your taste buds change and you no longer crave salts, fats, sugar, etc.

Also, with Take Shape for Life you get to eat a Lean and Green meal which is delicious! You can eat steaks, chicken, pork, fish, etc.

Here is a link to my website which shows some more of the foods. Click on the shop tab and it will show you all of the products. Let me know if I can help you out :tu http://ohiodan.tsfl.com

Wow great job! Once you’ve reached your target weight, throw out or give away every piece of clothing that doesn’t fit. The idea of having to buy a whole new wardrobe if you gain the weight back will serve as a strong incentive to maintain your new figure. ;)

Update: I am now down to 287, so that makes 55 pounds and I am still going!

Since I have lost 55 pounds, that translates to 220 pounds less on my joints :tu (for each pound you lose, you take 4 pounds of pressure off of your joints)

I am now down 93 pounds! I went from morbidly obese (342 pounds) on 7/5 to obese, and now I am only overweight (249 pounds). :) I was a size 46 waist pant on 7/5, and now I am down to a size 38 waist pant. :) It is so easy to lose weight if you put your mind to it. :)

Ok I was interested because I quit cigarettes in April and for a few months not working now, so I got heavier. I am a little over 6'2" and was at 240. I lost 10 consistent lbs since Xmas, mostly watching the sugars and carbs, and treadmill each day. 227 right now and probably just want to lose about 10 more. That's why I was reading this thread and realized you must be pretty close to where you want to be. Then it's maintenance, right ?

First of all, good job! :tu

The next step will be the transition phase, then maintenance.

First I am going to start eating fruits again and the high starch vegetables that I eliminated during the fat burn period.

This house all the potato chips and candy are gone and fruit is everywhere. LOL I eat like a monkey now. :noon To me any vegetables are good. Raw carrots with lowfat ranch is a good snack. I do have some 100 cal treats, but I found the 2 miles in the morning and a few 10 min exercise breaks are keeping my metabolism upscale.

I just noticed my lifestyle change the last 6 months was going to be trouble after 36 waist for years began to be difficult to get in to so I made some subtle healthy changes. Just better diet and more exercise. You seriously did a great job and had one heck of a battle. :tu

Over here it's good to have the treadmill running again. I blew it up last Saturday. I was mad, but also cracking up because I had just upped my game to the next level when I fried it ! I put a replacement motor and speed controller in it yesterday. Hopefully now it can keep up with old man :LOL

Dan can you please describe what this plan entails? I have to be honest when I first read this thread last year my :bs detector was going off like crazy. You have obviously had excellent results from the program so could you shed some light on how it's supposed to work? I've searched, but the web is so full of fake reviews and scam warnings I'd like to hear it from someone who's done it.

Absolutely... I am a Certified Health Coach with Take Shape for Life so I can definitely answer any questions you have. The program is very simple, it is called the 5&1 Plan. There is no need to count calories, carbs, etc. All you have to do is eat food and you will lose weight (approximately 2-5 lbs a week). You eat 5 meal replacements and 1 Lean and Green meal each day. You eat every 2-3 hours, so you do not go hungry. The program is very cheap because you basically shift your money from the grocery store, fast food restaurants, etc and transfer it to TSFL. I found that I save money by being on the plan.

There are over 70 different meal replacements available (bars, pancakes, shakes, soft bake items, drinks, soups, chilis, stews, cereal, pretzels, puffs, eggs, mac & cheese, ice cream, oatmeal, puddings, etc.) and honestly, they are delicious. I was the worlds pickiest eater before I started this program, and now I love the food. They even have chocolate chip cookies and brownies! You could eat 5 cookies a day if you wanted :dr

The lean and green meal is a meal that you make on your own. Basically, you want 5-7 cooked ounces of lean protein. You can have steak, pork, chicken, turkey, fish, etc and 1.5 cup of vegetables. Normally I eat steak, porkchops, tilapia, salmon, turkey, chicken, green beans, broccoli, salad, cauliflower, etc.

Once you hit day 3 on the program, you enter fat burning mode and you get a ton of energy. I have never had as much energy in my life as I do now.

If you are interested, let me know. I can get you free boxes of meals when you sign up under me, and I will be your personal Certified Health Coach :tu

Sorry. I didn't want the sales pitch, I am actually curious about the How and the Why.

It sounds like a calorie restricted low GI diet.

I know it's unimportant because someone has already done all the work when they prepared the meals, but do you have any idea what the target macro nutrient breakdown should be for the day?

At what point do you transition from the prepackaged meals to your own cooking, and what does TSFL recommend eating at that point?

Once you reach your goal weight and are done with the fat burning state you enter the Transition phase where you start to eat fruit again, as well as the higher starch vegetables that you eliminated in the fat burn phase. You also can start to eat whole grains again. Once transition is done, you enter the maintenance phase where you keep the weight off for good. You might eat just a couple of the meal replacements and the rest of the day you eat healthier meals. This program basically teaches you how to eat properly your entire life. :)

You have done a great job and I really apprciate that. But I think that is not enough. You should take more care about your weight. Mean you have need to cut off more fat from your body.

I think you need to respond to the PM I sent you and the questions others have directed to you.
